It contains incredible features such as a custom Steering Wheel, shifter, bucket seats, rearview mirror, side view mirrors, a roll cage, and 340 CID 4BBL Engine. It also has hood scoops, rear spoiler, drag slicks, and stock tires with plated wheels. The set of expanded water-slide decals includes a giant demon decal and more.
    Features
    1:25 scale, skill level 2, paint & glue required
    91 parts
    Molded in white, clear, transparent red, and some chrome-plated parts
    Black vinyl tires
    Metal axle
    Built size: 7.75 inches long
    Dodge Dart is a line of automobiles marketed by Dodge from the 1959 to 1976 model years in North America, with production extended to later years in various other markets.
    The Dart name originally appeared on a 1956 Chrysler show car featuring a streamlined body designed by the Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Ghia that was later modified and renamed the Dart Diablo.[1] The production Dart was introduced as a lower-priced, full-size Dodge in 1960 and 1961, became a mid-size car for 1962, and then was a compact from 1963 to 1976.[2][3]
    The Dart nameplate was resurrected for a Fiat-derived compact car that was introduced in 2012.
    For 1971, Chrysler introduced a 2-door hardtop in the Valiant line called the Scamp. It was the same car as the Swinger with a Valiant front clip. The 1970 Dart's dual tail lamps were given over to the badge-engineered Scamp, while the 1971 Dart received new smaller quad taillamps that would be used through 1973. The custom 2-door hardtop coupe became the Swinger, and the standard Swinger became the Swinger Special. Dodge gained a version of Plymouth's popular Valiant-based fastback Duster which was to be named the Beaver,[31] but when Chrysler's marketing department learned that "beaver" was CB slang for vagina,[5] the vehicle was renamed the "Dart Demon".
    As was the case with previous Dodge rebadges of Plymouth Valiants, such as the 1961-1962 Lancer, sales of the Demon lagged behind those of the Duster. With optional hood scoops and blackout hood treatment, the car was advertised as a performance car. The Demon's Dart-type front fender wheel lips and Duster-type rear wheel fender lips reveal the car was essentially a Duster with Dart front sheet metal and other minor styling changes. A new audio option became available for 1971: Chrysler's cassette-recorder. Unlike the 8-track tapes, the cassette player was relatively compact, and it was mounted on the console or on its own floor-mount casing. This unit offered an available microphone in which one could record their own dictation.
    The Swinger 340, Dart's performance model, was replaced by the Demon 340, 275 HP engine with an optional 4-speed manual transmission, optional hood scoops, and blackout hood treatment. In 1971, Chrysler ended their longstanding corporate practice of installing left-hand-threaded wheel studs on the left side of the vehicle; all-wheel studs on the Dart thenceforth used conventional right-hand threads

    i have to smile: The AMT Duster had optional parts to create a 340 six pack engine. Only the '70 AAR Barracuda and Challenger T/A's offered the Mopar factory 340 6-pack engine, but Mr. Norm's Dodge out of Chicago offered a 340 6-Pack in the A-Body Demon. No Plymouth Dealer that I know of offered a 340 6-Pack in a Duster, so I'll get the 6-Pack from one of my AMT Duster kits and install it on my model Demon. I can't wait for mine to be delivered. The Demon 340 6-Pack could also have optional functional hood ram-air from Mr. Norm. Love those Mopar small blocks !

    Music during the build session is perfect for a '71. Sounds like a theme song to a 70's cop show or movie. Great build Chris!

    Back in the early 70's, my high school buddy bought a brand-new Dodge Dart Swinger with the 340 and four-speed with overdrive option. The Demon retains most of the same body style, and exact same hood scoops as my pal's old car. That car was very fun to drive, fast as heck, too.
    You did a great job on the model, Chris!

    Plastic pins for the front wheels was a horrible idea. Broke both of mone off on the 68 Coronet R/T convertible kit trying to get the wheels on. And the metal axle for the rear was too short. Update, I found a metal axle that will work on the Coronet, fixed the front axle pins by drilling through the engine block and using a metal axle so it has that promo look. Right now, the Demon kits are hard to find but I snagged 5 of them at retail price from a local hobby shop.that got them for me. Even with the glossy stripes your kit build looks really nice.

    That grille turned out great! I might paint my hood scoops semi-gloss black to better match the decals... I spray Tamiya semi-gloss clear over Chrysler rallye wheels, black-wash as needed then use a small cotton swab dipped in lacquer thinner to remove the semi-gloss clear from the trim rings.

    My first car was a '71 Dodge Demon! No hood scoops, racing stripes, spoiler or 340 engine! Mine was a boring 225 6, but I can't wait to build the car I should have had! Glad I didn't cave in and spend a fortune on the old tooling. Very nice build, and you've given me some great ideas on how to do things. Thank you!

    Maybe I will build mine with white side stripes and hood, so the shiny vs flat black issue is not so apparent.
    I've had this kit on order through my hobby shop for quite some time. It really isn't expected in shops until February. Round2 was at the model show in Detroit last month, and their rep said they didn't think the boat carrying the new kit supply would arrive until January.
    Some pre-production kits are on shore now for reviewers, but that's all.

    I used to work at a Chrysler plant in Australia, until it was sold to another company. We had the valiant/dart equivalent here, what I find interesting is apart from LHD to RHD, was the subtle differences between them. From here it seems wood treatment was common on instrument panels and centre consoles of sports/muscle models, here we had pretty much 3 trim levels back in the day. They were standard, premium and sports, so woodgrain treatments were the preserve of the premium range. We didn't have a muscle class everything was sports, so on sports the instrument panel and centre consoles we're generally black.

    Really cool kit. Still wonder why they didn't use their '71 Duster as a base. Anyway. It's beautiful, but I've been wondering, IF Revell was to get out a '71 Demon with the same quality and details as their '71 Mustang, would it sell more than MPC's? I know we will never know, but I'm not really sold on the "retro build" look/way that Round2 do with some of their new toolings.

    • @GordoGrande69
      @GordoGrande69 10 місяців тому

      Because then they couldn't say "all new tooling" and people would assume it was just another reboxing with new decals.

    • @chassegallerie2910
      @chassegallerie2910 10 місяців тому +1

      @@GordoGrande69 Well, that goes with their "nostalgia sell" idea, however, nostalgia won't sell forever. I think they still think that many of their old, used toolings sell 'cuz of nostalgia and not because they're the only ones producing them. Now, I'm not saying this is a bad kit. Seems pretty good. But the "let's make a new kit that look like it was made in the '70s" concept don't have much appeal to me. And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one thinking like this. I'm still gonna buy it 'cuz... Well, no one else have made it. But let say Revell had released one at the same time and it was on par with their new '71 Mustang, I would've go with Revell's and not theirs.

    • @jasonrothgeb6071
      @jasonrothgeb6071 9 місяців тому

      AMT had such a head start on building a much better engineered kit with their '71 Duster. So much shared mechanicals between those two cars on the same platform. When I heard about this kit, I assumed that is what Round 2 was going to do.

    Really nice. Almost FE5 Red. Again you are killing the Rallye wheels as Round 2 ain't doing you any favors making them all chrome but you are nailing them. The actual trim rings were polished only on some years, most are "brushed" aluminum - center caps dark grey and wheel flat silver metallic. Nice. Now where is the 340 Duster??? 👀

    Do you ever use plug wire kits? Does Round 2 offer a Scooby and Fred's Mystery Machine?

    Curious as to why the front bumper/grille wasn't on the chrome tree. 🤔

      The bumper is on the chrome tree. Shown in the parts review.
      The grill isn't chrome on the real car so it shouldn't be chromed.
      I talked about that in this video during the unboxing and the first unboxing as well. Thanks.

      I wait about 15 minutes or so between paint coats on these. Apply LIGHT coats. They may look heavy on camera but they are not.
