We will be nice to all visitors and offer help to them if they need help. We also understand if foreigners come to our country that means they don't hate us and want to see our country and culture. If they hate us, why will they come to our country?
In Beijing, at the metro reception you can buy a traveling card. You put like 80 yuen in there you can use in all public transportation in Beijing for a week. So convenient. No need to get ticket.

@@djyx8 That's not true, it really depends on the machine. In most stations I was able to buy tickets on my own from the machines, no ID required. Some of them ask for a staff's badge number and that's when you either need to go to the counter or ask for staff to help you buy from the machine, which is a bit annoying I agree.

SKP had largest sale volume in the world for shopping mall, its sale volume was around 4 Bn USD. And it is a little old and crowded. People are joking about that shopping in SKP is like shopping in local supermarket, especially during the SKP anniversary celebration time. It is kind of representing Beijing's vibe though: extremely rich people play the low-key card. People may see CBD area(around SKP) as fancy and rich, in fact, the people with most money and power(so called old money) are in the old west-north part(Haidian&Xicheng), and the infrastructure there sometimes reminded me of 2000s(while the housing price is over 15000 USD per sqm).
The ice cream shop that you tried is actually a famous chain brand with thousands of shops dotted all over China, and it's getting into 11 other countries including ANZ. 😊

If you go a little bit further on the first floor of SKP(instead of taking the escalator, you will find big brands like Hermes, Chanel, LV…There is always long queue in front of the Chanel store, but I don’t know why. 😂

People in Beijing, the capital city, tend to be more traditional and it's the political center. If you go to Shanghai, you'll find a better environment for speaking foreign languages. Once you've grown accustomed to scanning codes for payments, you can explore many more cities and interesting places in China. Actually, there are a lot of people in Beijing; it's just that the place where you're staying is relatively far from the city center. You haven't seen the liveliest parts yet.
That weird looking giant building is the China Central Television station. We call it the big pants😂. Actually, infrastructure wise, Beijing is not very advanced compared to other tier 1 cities. There are a lot of restrictions on the building codes, such as height of the high rises buildings. obviously because it’s the capital, hence security reasons.
The beauty of Beijing lies in its history and culture. Forbidden City, summer palace, the Great Wall, are the must sees. And perhaps Lama Temple, temple of heaven, as a plus.

Those e-bikes are crazy, they are as fast as motor bikes but completely silence. Worst of all, e bikes in most cities are unlicensed and uninsured, because Chinese law seem to consider ebikes as non motorised bicycles.
Most ebike riders also had no motorist training, and completely disregard traffic regulation.
@@moss550 you are right, I hate when they do not follow the traffic rules. While, in my city e bikes have to be licensed, but still doesn’t make them drive better

in mainland China, it is legal for cars to turn left (but have to drive slowly) when the pedestrians traffic lights turn green, just likes US and Canada. But in Hong Kong and Macau, they use british traffic rules.

Westerners don’t understand our traffic system, it’s the same as in the US, cars definitely follows the traffic lights, there are so many cameras, it’s 6 points and 200 rmb ticket for crossing on red lights.

There are two different machines in the subway, one for one-off tickets another for travel cards. Maybe the one you used was for travel cards cause as far as I know, you don't need ID to buy one-off tickets. Have another try next time😊

it's usually the delivery guys who are the worse offenders so gotta watch out for them when you walking and talking to camera 😅. next time you are in china you should try out those share bikes, really cheap and a good way to see the city. of course, gotta set up the payment apps. once you get pass the initial barriers, it's really easy to get around and do stuff in china.

The shop where you guys went for ice cream and that lemon drink is called 密雪冰城, or Mixue Ice Cream & Tea. It is a large chain in China. They are known for their standardized price all over China. While not the best in the industry, they are very affordable and can be found everywhere.

11:12 It’s bit different rule in China, when the traffic light is red, you can still turn right if there isn’t a separate red light for right, but you have to wait for the walkers to walk, so you didn’t need to walk, they would wait for you and turn. It costs me a couple of fines here in Europe then i learned, other than this, basically same traffic rules.

There are basically 3 tier cities in China. Guangdong which is around ppp(purchasing power parity) is about 24k USD(just check) Shanghai, Beijing also fall into first tier. Then the secind and third tier cities more like any developing South east asia countries, except Singapore. So when you go to China, don't be surprised at one point, the country seems like any big developed cities in the world, while at some point it is like a developing countries. Also, Chinese travellers from all parts travel as tourist within the country. So all kinds of behaviour could be observed😂.

Actually you don't need to buy single ticket everytime in Metro station. You can buy a metro stored value card. You deposite money to it. You can use in Metro and bus. When you leave Beijing, you can return it to Metro station and get back the money. You can buy it in Metro information centre.

SKP is indeed the most top-tier shopping mall, but you guys went to the wrong place. They went to SKP Phase I, which has now become a place for second-tier brands. The high-end ones have moved to the new SKP Phase II, just across the street from Phase I 😂

Can't you use cash in the subway ticket machines? You can't use 100 notes, but you should be able to use smaller notes. The camera on the turnstiles allows you to pay by facial recognition. In Chinese malls, restaurants are on the top floor, and a cheaper food court will be on B1. I don't know about SKP though, haven't been there.

i believe you can use Alipay to tap through metro, or let the machine scan your Ali bus pass for Beijing. In Alipay you should be able to find a section called transit or some sort, everything you need to get on a public transportation is in there

You can find a tea house to try some authentic Chinese tea. The ice tea is just sweet soft drink, not tea. Also avoid the stores like Hey Tea, Chagee, and other milk tea store. What they sell is also sweet soft drink. Real Chinese tea is brewed from tea leaves. It is not sugary sweet.
You could have used cash to buy the metro ticket from the machine, and you don't need an id to travel on the metro.
