Jim, wonderful video. You pulled me in like a magnet to watch a Luminar video. Wow, the product has come a long way from the very initial days. It "tugged" at me but, at this stage I can not change now. You are like a Master Artist/Sculptor with it and I enjoyed & learned just from your editing process. TKS
It's a solid upgrade for sure. Usually the rollout is staged by time zone to allow the server load to handle it. So hang in there and keep checking to see if it's there for you. I appreciate the interest in my masking class. I've had a ton of great feedback about it so I know it will help. 🙏🏻
Hi Jim. I'm just back from a holiday in Australia and sat here with my image cull on one monitor and your video on the other! Interesting to see how you're incorporating the new tools and new masking into your workflow. As always, an excellent presentation and impressive delivery. Nice work! 😀 I haven't really had a proper chance to get playing with this update due to other commitments (and a nice holiday 😅) but can't wait to get into it more. All the best form NZ!
Hey mate, sounds like you had a nice break, and well deserved I'm sure. I need one of those LOL. Hope you got out and took a few pics. Thanks for stopping by and we still need to meet up sometime and go shoot. But man, we're literally on the other side of the world from each other! 🤣
I follow you - Anthony - and Jim. I always watch your videos! If either of you have any direct communication with Luminar I wonder if they could add a blending mode option for the color transfer. I think that would be great but I guess if you play with the sliders enough you can kind of get to the same place. I appreciate you both for bringing up my game as well as all of the other photography enthusiasts out there. Nothing brings me more joy than photography and I appreciate what you both do. Lloyd in Atlanta.
@JimNix yeah great to have a holiday but meant doing some pre-recorded vids in a bit of a pinch before I left. Hopefully we'll get to do some photos on location together at some point in the not too distant future!
Hi @@lloydstuartm.d.5625 yeah I'm sure we can drop that idea to Skylum, but even just mentioning things in comments is a good idea as they'll often have people looking 🙂 Good to see you over here on Jim's excellent content.
Excellent video as always Jim. Many thanks for sharing your knowledge in such a clear way. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to trying out the upgrade this weekend. Take care and be safe. Andy
Hi Jim… could you do some clarification on Saturation and Vibrance… I tend to use Vibrance more so and hardly use saturation. I play around with both and find they both do essentially the same thing… if I need to de-saturate photos, I find Vibrance more effective. What are your thoughts on this?
I rarely use Saturation either, and mostly do my color work in other tools (or with masks). Saturation will pop all the colors, whereas Vibrance seems to enhance the less dominant colors, which to me leads to a more natural look (if used conservatively). Thanks.
Hi Jim, thanks for your introductory videos on the new version of Luminar NEO. I was able to download and install it today at 8pm German time and felt right at home with it. The revised catalogue module is really good, but it seems to be taking a while for my photos to be indexed for the new search function. I've also been waiting a long time for a colour mask, but I would have liked it to be based on a range of colours rather than just a single colour, as in Lightroom or ACR. On the other hand, I'm glad that this tool is now available in NEO. I still need to have a look at Color Transfer, but it seems very useful. All in all, a successful update that has worked perfectly on my Mac Mini M1 so far. I'll see how it works on my Windows laptop after installation 🙂
Great video Jim. It’s been a few years since I’ve used Neo but have a photoshoot w an older celebrity actress I just did and she wants me to do a lot of skin smoothing and deaging and Photoshop still doesn’t have any quick ways to do this (ideally batch processing would be great) curious if Neo has these options?
Thanks and good question. Yes it has some tools for this like Skin AI that smooths things out. You can also light the face and slim it and the body etc. It's pretty cool. If you need to really go deep with portraits though, their new tool Aperty (comes out in Nov) is specific to portraits and has even more tools.
Nicely done Jim - always a pleasure. Say would you consider leaving a link to your raw image so we might download and follow along? Possibly a Patron group for your followers?
thanks Kit, I appreciate it and I have thought about some sort of community thing like that but haven't had time to get it done - I appreciate the suggestion of course, and will look into it in more detail
Yes if you have a lifetime (perpetual) license that was bought prior to July 1 this year, it is a paid upgrade. If you have a subscription of course you get this automatically.
do you know if the updated supersharp or any of the AI tools. also did they add the ability to edit R5Mk2 Raw files? so I don't have to DNG the all the time
I don't think Supersharp was updated but the GenAI tools have better performance. And I don't know about the R5 but someone else said it didn't work so I guess that one is not support yet.
Thanks, Jim, for keeping us up to date with Neo! It's easy to get overwhelmed with the new tools.
thanks for watching Dan!

Looking forward to the New Update...whenever it comes. Also planning on getting your masking training to help my learning curve. Thanks again.

I still enjoy watching you edit in Luminar Neo Jim. And I’ve decided to keep my subscription to it and let ON1 expire. 😎
hey thanks TC, appreciate it and glad you are keeping Luminar!

Just received the update. Germany here.
have fun!
Very well done
thanks Nigel!
Looks like this is a pay for upgrade for those of us who bought this software at the beginning and made no purchases afterwards.

I was a little confused that you kept referring to Accent AI. Where is that located? It's not on my version.
Oh sorry, it's inside the tool called Enhance AI and is the first slider there.

When does it update?
It rolls out around the globe all day so just check every once in a while and it will be there. They do this to lighten the load on the servers.
