  • “Pale blue dot” - Carl Sagan, 1990, high quality, cleaned audio, improved version, synchronized with "Spiegel im Spiegel" - Arvo Pärt, 1978.
Become human & deal more kindly to one another! Preserve and cherish the pale blue dot!
This is my favorite speech & music of all time and I could only find low quality version. I felt that it would synchronized perfectly with Spiegel im Spiegel. It also improved the audio quality and got rid of all the breathing "usshhh" sound found in the original version.
This took me a long time to do, if you like this version do not hesitate to let me know and suscribe to the channel so I can make more beautiful speechs of high quality.
I believe every human being should listen to this at least once. This is my way of commemorating Carl Sagan, he who the most has inspired me to become human.

As long and democrats/liberals are allowed to be in power. We will always have war, death, and poverty. The amount of pain and suffering liberals/democrats force onto people around them is truly disgusting, disturbing, and vile.

Only 557 likes and 28 comments, very few if we consider the magnitude of what Carl Sargan accomplished in maybe less than 4 minutes. This video should be posted on every available platform, on every tv channel and in schools and universities in the world and why not, in cinemas too.
If the "Pale Blue Dot " does'nt make you sit bolt upright in your chair and give the ultimate perspetive as to who we are, what we are and where we are then, alas..........................for the present and future humanity 😯 😮 ❤

This version was needed. The other versions of this show grandios close ups of Earth. This misses the point entirely of the story. Sagan had the whole thought he expresses here after seeing the image that was shown. Earth as a pixel. Nobody was interested in it except for Sagan and that is why you are reading this.

I watched Carl from a young age … I feel that the person I am now and how I raised my sons largely derived from watching reading and listening to him and others like him. I so badly wished we had more like him… we seem to have lost something precious we were aiming for with reason and kindness and scientific inquiry for everyone. I hope the flame can be reignited before we are lost to nonsense , poisoned politics and foolish obsessions. Left us too soon

That was wonderful. Thank you. You've perfected the audio and sound track IMHO. I think you could perfect the video too with a receding POV so the earth gets more and more like the "dot" as the narrative proceeds. And as several commenters have already said, I'd lose the caption at the end - I totally understand what your'e getting at but it is humans after al who've done all the hateful & stupid stuff. BE PEACE. You've inspired me to cut/edit my own version: I'd skip the lines about visiting/potentially populating other worlds (especially the militarist "make our stand" line) as it gives oxygen to wackos & con men like Musk - Earth is all we've got and al we ever will have.

Beautifully done! I just subscribed to your channel. The video is both minimalist and yet magnificent. Subtitles are very helpful and the audio does seem very clear. I personally would omit the "Become Human" message at the end, which seems jarring and obtrusive. The speech speaks for itself and those words are not part of it. But maybe it's not possible to edit a video after it's posted?

    • @rodlavery509
      @rodlavery509 10 місяців тому +1

Yeah agree, this is close to the perfect version of this outside of the actual Cosmos episode. My only complaint is that the video zooms IN on the dot throughout, which to me, is the opposite of the message of the speech. We (i.e. Earth) should be decreasing in significance, but the zoom implies we are increasing instead. Regardless, thanks for making and uploading this, it's much better than the other versions out there.

Carl was so right, everything we know, all the people and stories throughout history are there. From this perspective. from Saturn looking inward, our exaggerated egos, and all of our hubris emerges into its true perspective. Just a distant speck, as Carl would put it "A grain of sand of a cosmic beach" thinking that it alone is special. The best gift that that pale blue dot could be given, if a future is to be had here, would be irrefutable evidence that special it is not...

It is extremely disappointing that these clips don’t start with the real beginning of this speech, which is when Sagan explains that Voyager(?) was instructed to turn, from so many millions of miles away, and take a goodbye photo.
And THEN he gives his speech.
Including the prelude makes the whole thing much more powerful.
Think of that…from so far away, to take a photograph that includes all of human existence, and reveals our insignificance.
In Psalm 8 it says,”what is Man, that you are mindful of him, and the son of Man, that you care for him?”
This clip emphasizes the love of God for us, and our insignificance in His creation.

He was highly critical of the backwards thinking and adherence to dogma that plagues the religious and holds back humanity, and was especially critical of those who try to impose their religion on others, particularly through the power of the state.
