- In this video, I'm reacting to the newest lineup announcement for Reading & Leeds Festivals 2023. The festival has just added over 70 new names to the lineup, including some incredible artists like Bakar, Arlo Parks, Easy Life, Palaye Royale, Sea Girls, Sub Focus b2b with Dimension, Sleep Token, Tom Odell, Clavish, Rina Sawayama, Caity Baser, Mimi Webb, and Holly Humberstone.
I'll be sharing our thoughts on the new additions and talking about which artists we're most excited to see perform. So if you're a fan of Reading & Leeds Festivals or just love discovering new music, be sure to stick around for the whole video.

I think they need to ditch the dual headliner and multi main stage formula, go back to a single main stage with a main headliner or occasionally 2, allowing for bigger and more varied names that way, especially with so many acts becoming more popular these days. As an example in only 5 years Dave went from 1xtra tent to closing out the show on a Friday.
Totally aggree. TBF if you put this lineup in the old format, it doesn't look as bad, I think we all just expect more from 6 headliners.
MAKE SURE! you go and see Girls Don't Sync. Trust me when I say they'll be the highlight of your weekend, I managed to see them at 3 festivals last year, and even in the smallest capacity tents they were the best set of every festival. They bring the ultimate party wherever they go, and play the best mix of feelgood singalong tunes with a higher tempo dance vibe overlaid. Cannot recommend them enough !!!
I heard about them on Jack Saunders a few weeks back, Deffo my cup of tea!
Despite the headliners making this year look like a middle age mums fest, I actually think this lineup is decent! The Friday is especially good. Also do a WTF on Knocked Loose.
Knocked loose, don't know them, any recommendations?
@@JackWebbMusicClub I would say just listen to their top songs on Spotify! Heavy though. Very very heavy. Shocked R&L have booked them!
Yeah I kind of agree with your ending remarks. For all its flaws is there really a better UK festival this year apart from Glasto. Am not sure. Download looks good but is more genre specific. You could say the same for festivals like Truck and Kendal. At least RandL has variety. Even though I feel they dropped the ball with headliners and sub headliners abit this year.
I think the headliners are week for 6 headliners, but if you looked at it as one main stage and one NME tent, then Sam, Killers, Billie is a bit of a banger.
all the people main stage will draw decent crowds, compared to last years the main stage / sub headliners were weak in comparison to 2021 and 2023. Bakar has been there 3 years in a row and worked his way up to main stage. Will I be watching him. ABSOLUTELY
hmm, I think this will make it 4. and I've missed them each time. I really feel like he's about to explode in a big way, feel it in my waters.
I don't really get why people compare the line up to 10 years ago. Sure the acts booked are very different but more importantly the entire way festivals work are different. There's now so many festivals that pop up the scene is over crowded hence we have seen a lot of indie repeat line ups this year. Plus festivals are so much more expensive to run as well nowadays especially in the UK surely the fee the acts are getting paid isn't growing as much as well. Acts can get paid crazy money to headline European festivals with corporate sponsors plastered everywhere that the UK isn't as big of a pay day. Not only that but we are seeing more and more bands with access to just run their own massive outside shows now like 1975, Idles/Jamie T, Sam Fender etc etc I reckon that's just so much of a bigger payday as well
Yeah, a lot of those shows are run by Festival Republic still tho mind.
But sure, 10 years ago, record sales was still how you would get paid, and touring was just to promote it, the world has changed massively now, and the bank is in the live shows.
Not sure if it’s me but after the Glastonbury announcement I think this is a slightly week festival season
I feel the same, nothing is jumping out at me as amazing!
You’ll love girls don’t sync !! 4 girls ripping it up on the decks proper groovy good booking
Lineups a little weak but as a dnb fan they have done well with that genre !!
Plan on doing a WTF episode about them, there's not loads of info about them, got any inside knowledge?
tv girl are decent. i’m surprised they have such a small slot however
I've not come across them. do you have any Reccos? I've added to the To-Do WTF list.
TV Girl are pretty good, Ethel Cain is supporting boygenius on their new uk shows, think phoebe bridgers with a bit of influence from lana del rey she’s pretty cool. Lancey Foux is pretty much a uk playboi carti except he’s more lyrical and in a sense technical. Sainte is supporting slowthai on his uk tour and he’s amazing great chill grime artist.
ohhhh all interesting point to keep an eye out on.
This years lineup has a great mix of acts especially lower down . The average reading and leeds goer just looks at the headliners which I think are slightly underwhelming. That’s why the lineup is getting so much hate
I totally agree with you David. some spectacular names further down. and the moaning isn't anything new, it's just what Teenagers like to do ;)
not for me this year, giving it a swerve for creamfields instead. lancey foux is worth checking out, as well as previously mentioned in another comment, girls dont sync. there are some decent names on the lineup though, just not enough for me to justify the cost with people im itching to see
have the best time!
