Happy birthday and many years! I love Tolkien and (wait for it....) am enjoying the show! I have a secret weapon though; for better or worse I can completely divorce the two in my mind and not get rankled at the horrible representation the show is of Tolkien's original work. It probably also helps that I've never been a purist. I loved the original Star Wars and I'm sufficiently entertained by the new stuff. In my mind, Rings of Power is just another fantasy show. Some will say it's even bad on that front, but I suspect that's influenced at least in part by their (rightful) disappointment with what a terrible job the show has done of reflecting the true spirit of The Lord of the Rings world. I can enjoy as just another fantasy themed show. It's like pizza, even when it's bad, it still pizza. And yes, I realize many will disagree! I'm fine with that too :)
happy birthday. it is unfortunate that pope francis has inherited the weaknesses displayed by st. peter such as denying the Lord, and trying to escape his duties on the via appia, quo vadis domine?. regardless, this does not detract from his pedigree and the office that he holds, given by God Himself. he should be rebuked, just as paul rebuked peter. it is ironic though, but also prophetic, that the bishop of rome inherited the office of pontifex maximus during the reign of pope damasus when gratian relinquished the title and damasus was shortly recognized by theodosius as the holder of the title in 380, along with making catholic christianity as the official religion of the roman empire, committing all to believe the faith of rome from the pontifex damasus as the catholic faith, and of peter, bishop of alexandria. even today, this ancient office still belongs to the roman pontiff; the title itself unique from all the bishops because of its ancient roman privilege and heritage as arbiter of the gods, or as the office demands, to maintain the 'pax deorum', the peace of the gods. this is indeed to fulfill the words of God and the prophets; for the Messiah is to lord it over the earth and subjugate all the gods. Just as the Lord Jesus Christ has overcome the greek and roman gods, His holy church also conquered and vanquished and dominates the false gods of the nations where His name is proclaimed. "I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
