Mr. Robot is a masterclass. From pretty much every angle. And even if you figured out the twist that was coming, it still hit freakin' hard. Quite possibly the best TV show ever.
And so the journey ends. One of the few shows that nailed the ending. Truly a phenomenal show, easily top 5 for me. I'll miss these reactions, the discussions, the good bad and weird theories, the minds being blow, all of that. Really appreciated it!
I watched the entire reaction like "yeah I remember all this, pretty good finale", right until the scene where Elliott/The Mastermind reunites with his "family". That one always gets a tear out of me
The final line always gets me. I remember trying to convince my friend to watch she show and I read the name of the finale episode and it stung in my heart. I’ve seen that scene almost 10 times by now if not more and I get chills everytime
Thank you for sharing both your reactions to Mr Robot. I never got to finish the show back when it aired after season 3. I was not in the right headspace to do so. But, watching you both react to it, made me want to finish it. I think it was the best ending to a show ever. And, just like Lola said, music makes a show just that much better. I pay attention to music in movies and TV so much.
The Mastermind is extremely close to Elliot's personality, Angela and Darlene barely could tell a difference even though they are both so close to him. The Mastermind was probably born during the server room incident, but it hadn't really taken over yet and the real Elliot was still in control. So you guys did know Elliot.
I still believe the real Elliot can be seen on the S2 flashback before he puts on the mask and his father's jacket. He recognizes Darlene and watches that horror film they saw as kids with her. Plus, he is not wearing the black hoodie and black pants which were basically the MM or "hacker vigilante" clothes.
Hoya 117 I disagree. Darlene stated in this very episode that she immediately knew it wasn’t Elliot because they don’t act the same. And Angela said in an earlier season that he hadn’t been acting like himself lately. She didn’t know the reality of what was going on with him, but she definitely noticed a difference. Also, I believe that the server room incident was Mr. Robot, not Mastermind. That’s why Mastermind doesn’t remember it at all. I believe that the server room incident was alluded to in 3x06 when Mr. Robot destroyed the computer room in a similar way when Mastermind tried to stop Stage 2. I think Mastermind was born shortly after Mr. Robot and Darlene started F Society. “You were only born a month ago.”
Im late but the idea is that the Mastermind is Elliot's imagination of what he always wanted to become, the same way many depressed and anxious people wish they were different, not a whole different person, but someone more willing to the cause and more independent. He starts the show by creating us, while deleting chunks of his whole life, especially Darlene, which is also something that plenty of people wish they could do, escape from the person that knows them too well, because they don't want to be saved by them. The whole identity of the mastermind is a character study of the real Elliot, and the fact we don't get to see him is good, because it means the Mastermind's mission is done and he doesn't need to talk to us anymore.
@@duh_vonne Mastermind started fsociety, not Mr Robot. There are Krista's words in this episode. "You were only born a month ago" refers to Mastermind trapping the real Elliot in the fworld and taking the full control. A month ago the host is changed and the Mastermind forgets the things linked to his personality. But he is born in the server room and he started the plan in Halloween night, as Krista explains.
@@vd5725 You make good points. I’m clearly due for a rewatch of this show lol. I think what makes this difficult to follow is that the show established early on that when “Elliot” doesn’t remember doing something, it’s because one of the other alters was actually the one who did it. So for the show to change that up later on and say that it was Mastermind who did this particular thing but he just doesn’t remember doing it is jarring and difficult to wrap my head around because it feels like that’s not how it’s supposed to work.
Oh trust me, you will think of this show for a while because very few shows leave that mark and get close to this. So glad I was able to enjoy it again through yours perspective.
That monologue about how just existing on the earth is somehow changeing the world always gets me it‘s so beautiful. The ending is so amazing. Loved watching the whole show again with your reactions
It's been incredible embarking on this journey again with you ladies. I've seen the show about four times now (it's become an annual tradition that I watch it during the fall of the year to coincide with the fourth season taking place over the xmas holiday) and each time it's like returning to family, and when it finishes it feels like a bittersweet farewell. The finale is a profound and moving one, and they couldn't have capped it of better. Through your analysis I'm still learning things that even after all this time shines light on the myriad of details this thought-provoking experience has to offer. It is my favourite show; beautifully crafted by those in front and behind the camera. Nothing has filled the void left by Mr. Robot...except Mr. Robot.
In my head canon for the show, I like to believe that Whiterose's machine actually works, and that Elliot's (really The Mastermind's) incredibly moving journey as a character convinces the audience that we shouldn't bother trying to FIND a better world when we can just MAKE this world better, really echoed to me through Elliot's monologue at the end of the series about showing up for others and how that will resonate into the world around us. I think Whiterose DID actually show something to Angela, and I think whatever the Dark Army was transporting in their van that Tyrell stumbles upon in the woods in that incredibly cryptic episode in season 4 is another piece of evidence that the machine works. I think Whiterose gambled her life in the end by killing herself, hoping that it would inspire enough faith in Elliot to let the machine finish its process; perhaps another Whiterose from another world would have appeared to Elliot, as I imagine this is what Whiterose showed to Angela. Of course, none of this has any evidence behind it, but (in my opinion, at least) I think assuming the project was real enhances the emotional conclusion to Elliot's character. Love this show to pieces; rewatching it with you two (this was my 4th rewatch) from start to finish continues to show me new things about the show I didn't quite pick up before.
I also think a rewatch will help your feelings towards Angela's exit. It took me a couple rewatches to feel like it works, and rewatching along with you made me realize that the end to her character was absolutely perfect. When you keep it in mind while revisiting her arc in S1 and S2 it's so great
What differentiates a good show from a superb one, is the capacity to awe you, and also the ability to draw you in for one or many rewatches and still keep you entertained and fascinated like the first time watching. Mr. Robot is one of those rare shows. Thank you both for letting us experience the ride once more thru your reaction!
This was not the first time I've experienced media about multiple identity disorder but this is definitely one of the best, and I did not see this final twist about Elliot coming. They did an excellent job in being subtle with the hints. Also to be fair, I have no idea if this disorder can be THIS intense in real life, where you actually don't know which "you" is the real you, which made it even harder to figure out the twist. Anyway, watching this series again through you girls reacting to it was pretty nice. Mr. Robot is definitely one of my top 5 tv series, and I really need more like it.
Thanks for reacting to this one! What a ride. I started watching Mr Robot when it was 2 seasons in. I remember having to wait a full week between episodes when S3 came out (the wait between Time Error and Kill Process and then the next ones fell like eternity). Then Season 4 was delayed because Rami was doing the Freddie Mercury movie. And then every episode in S4 was also a week apart from the previous one, it was torture. I remember going into the subreddit to read about theories and everything, and I don't recall someone having gotten it right even at episode 11. I'm glad I didn't get into the subreddit before because I know people did get the prison twist. I was shocked by the ending, it was beautiful and had me crying like a baby. It confirmed this is my favorite show ever, and it's not even close. Just a wonderful ending to an almost perfect show. It's also great upon rewatch
I can't watch this finale without bawling my eyes out, every.single.time. First, the uplifting speech Mastermind gave us, about how staying true to ourselves and just *staying*, keep on living, is the biggest act of rebellion there is. I have a couple of headcanons for "what happened next": 1. I think MM and all the other alters gave Elliot back his memories, that's what we see in the end is like a reel of the events of the show 2. I'd like to think that Elliot kept on seeing Krista, and she helped him reconnect all the alters so he's able to safely express and process his painful memories 3. Darlene and Dom eventually reconnect, it takes time but I do believe they are able to have a healthy relationship... not right away, both of them have too much to deal with and to heal, but eventually they do 4. Elliot and Darlene heal their real relationship and both of them go on to have a somehow stable, normal, regular life.
I never saw it coming haha. But I think it was for the best. The reaction I had when they reveal the truth about the mastermind was disbelief. I cried during the last 20 minutes of this episode. Definitely one of the series I'll never forget.
I'm just honestly impressive how great this review as as whole. Both of you are great and some discussion were one of the best I've seen from the show. And I was crying with the one on the right the whole time as well. Fuck this ending was great
Thank you for letting us join you on this journey! I watched this show every week when it originally aired, and it was wonderful getting to watch it again through your eyes/minds. I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts on each episode, you had such great insights. This was such a beautiful ending.
I was disappointed that there wasn't anything more of Olivia. Just like a shot of her celebrating Christmas with her kid or something to show she was doing ok would have been nice to see.
In terms of the revelations in the Finale and watching it live when it aired: I personally was pretty shocked at the ending and the revelation, but not completely because of the hints about a missing alter and references to 1x04. At the time, I didn't have any friends watching this show with me, so I didn't get to discuss it either and didn't browse the forums/social media about it either. One thing that isn't discussed much, is that The Mastermind is actually a Villain. He is a criminal mastermind, and look at everything he actually did... Yes he protected Elliot at "All costs" but that is something a Criminal Mastermind would do. Mr Robot was there to keep him on a leash too, which is why several times he tried to rein in the Mastermind persona when he was doing very villainous things, crossing the line several times in the show. The real Elliot almost created him as a way to "Fight fire with fire" in my opinion. Also, I immediately had to rewatch the show after the finale... Its just such a unique viewing experience the first go round versus the second watch!
It has been so great watching Mr.Robot thanks for taking us along for the ride. Definitely my absolute favourite series finale, i feel it closes everything perfectly.
Every time that Darlene was having the panic attacks was when she felt like she's abandoning Elliot. This was because the moment in the past when he needed her but she ran away. After they stole the deus group money she knew that she had to face her relations with Elliot. Something that was always put off because of everyrhing that happend. So she tried to run away again
It has been such a joy to rewatch the show with you two. Loved every reaction, reviews, and theories you guys had. PS: Hopefully 'Severance' wins a poll soon. You guys will love it.
BTW, your final reactions are the ones that showed me you hadn't seen the ending before or didn't know it before you reacted to it. Y'all kept referring to the 3 personalities (Mr. Robot, Mom, Young Elliot) and M/M. You talked about the host being the 'real Elliot', which was very much out there, and y'all happened to figure that one out in far greater details that I did. I kinda got that, but not to the level you did. However, neither of you two never once slipped up (if you had watched it beforehand) and said 6... the sixth being US, the voyeurs. I did the math during the show's original run, and thought there were six back then because I included us. Again, great job... and the soundtrack for Vol 8 is out there now. And the very last track is called "The Best Part". Fitting, right?!
A perfect ending to a perfect show. It's personally only second to The Sopranos as Mr Robot borrows A LOT from it and without The Sopranos we wouldn't have Mr Robot, Breaking Bad, The Wire etc without it. I can't recommend the show enough.
I'll be honest, I haven't watched the Sopranos but it seems more like Mr. Robot was borrowing from Fight Club as well as other David Fincher films (like The Social Network).
@@beartrap3400 Fight had inspirations for sure due to the personality aspect and a little more on the nose at the end when they're looking out at the building. But it borrows the most from Sopranos, from the therapy sessions to dream sequences.
No matter how many times I watch the ending, I always cry. It may not be the greatest show ever made, but it's the show I've connected with the most, the show I've loved the most so far. For me, a masterpiece.
a bittersweet reaction. on the one hand you're finishing Mr. Robot, one of my favorite shows of all time! on the other hand, you're starting The Wire!!! one of my favorite shows of all time! can't wait, honestly.
Thank you, and thanks to all of you fellow Mr.Robot fans in the comments sections. It's been a true joy for me to both tune in to the reactions but also reading the comments section. As a lot of you have pointed out, Mr.Robot has not (yet) reached a mainstream audience, which makes you guys special to me. A small but dedicated fan base that appreciates the subtleties, layers and deeper meanings of this incredible show. Thanks everyone! On to the next! :D
I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH!! this is the greatest show of my lifetime! I've rewatched this show 5 times and i cant wait to watch it a 6th time some day. its always different. this show is perfect. thank you for watching it. this was a wonderful journey.
I'm late to the party but i wanna chime in: I spent the entire season denying Angela's death. I was 100% sure that we were gonna found out that it was a lie and she was okay and this ending really shattered me.
Thanks so much for another great reaction series girls! This is my 11th series to have watched you both react to fully, and I look forward to the many more to come ❤❤❤
Mr. Robot is one of my top favorite shows and I am soo happy that you guys watched and appreciated this masterpiece. It was an incredible experience to rewatch this show along with you guys. I thoroughly enjoyed your reactions and loved listening to your thoughts and theories about the show 🥺❤️❤️
After I saw you were doing reactions to Mr. Robot, I felt a powerful need to rewatch the show. It's strange, because I don't normally do that, but this time it was like an overwhelming longing to once again meet Elliot and his world. I binge watched all 4 seasons and I experienced the same raw emotions I did the first time plus even more. I love Sam Esmail and can't wait for his next projects.
At the end it makes sense why the "normal" Elliot could hear him talking to us. The normal Elliot is his vision of "us", his caricature of the real person. It looks like the vigilante hacker, who likely only has a very passing resemblance to the real man. Of course he can hear it, he's the one being talked to. But it's not the real Elliot, not really. We are. We've just been getting glimpses of what our protective personalities are doing in the real world. We were never in the dark, we were just having a long episode, with a small moment of lucidity that one time we spoke to Angela. We, the real Elliot have issues for sure, but the chief of which being our DID and these personalities. The one that exasperates all the other issues he has, from Elliot's drug addiction to his depression.. It's why every time Elliot experiences character growth it has no lasting effects, Elliot can't grow if he still has an iron grip on his personalities and processes everything through there. The same way he needed to push past his strained relationship with Mr. Robot to finally process his repressed memories to begin to heal from the trauma and the itch that he feels constantly. He needs to break free of the vigilante hacker personality now that the work he created him for is done. The "normal" Elliot in his vision is his ideal, but now more than ever is he capable of getting there I like to believe the real Elliot didn't just abandon his mission of helping people, but can now do it in a way that is not an all in self-sacrifice, or needing alternate personalities to draw out the strength in him. That he can rely on his own confidence and be able to work through the initial trauma that caused the DID in the first place.
It's funny now that I suddenly remembered Milena once saying something along the lines of "I don't think Mr. Robot is a good show for reactions" and I was like "whaaaaaat?!" I am glad you decided to give it a chance, this show is definitely in my top 3 if not my favorite one of all time, it's perfect in a sense that everything is coherent from the start, but it's much much more than just "perfect", it has everything that a great show must have in my opinion, incredible plot twist and mind f*** moments, amazing dialogue that I keep rewatching for years and they always bring those goosebumps, it's amazingly creative with its cinematography, with multiple original episodes, like that "one shot" one, the silent one and the 7th of S4... the characters are all perfectly written and wrapped, even the most secondary ones... I am not into programming and hacking and all that stuff, but it has never really been about that has it... Anyway, enjoy rewatching it ❤
One of the best finales and shows ever. and m83 song at the end was pure magic. the best series finale is still Six Feet under, the mother of dark humour and drama shows. i can recommend that a lot ;) but its about life and death so its not easy to watch sometimes but its a life experience fo sure
In case you missed it before, here's where Sam Esmail (80s child) got his inspiration for the final re-integration scene. ua-cam.com/video/8iWmzp7EPPw/v-deo.html (notice the Star Gate 'tunnel lights' sequence ends at 02:34 with Dave Bowman's eye, as he becomes a Star Child. Able to transcend spacetime boundaries, going from young, to old, to Star Child)

I really enjoyed these Mr. Robot reactions. Can't believe it has been 5 Months since episode 1 and I enjoyed every single one of them! Mr Robot is one of my favourite shows ever, so reliving it through you made me really happy. My absolute favourite show in the world is "March comes in like a lion". I don't know why, but I felt joy watching this. Mastermind Elliot made a better world for Real Elliot to live in. Of course, Real Elliot has to get a little update on Angela and friends, but you get my idea. What a ride this series was! :) Edit: Sometimes, Real Elliot was out there. So the update thing might be easier than I thought at first.

Thanks for doing the series. This is my favorite TV show. It's great to see people watch, be affected and appreciate it.
A hell of a ride. So glad you enjoyed it as much I hoped you would!!
I'm just honestly impressive how great this review as as whole. Both of you are great and some discussion were one of the best I've seen from the show. And I was crying with the one on the right the whole time as well. Fuck this ending was great
Tears in my eyes. Yall have now watched my Top 2 works of fiction of all time. Just need my queens to watch Dark and complete my peak fiction trinity
They've already seen Dark unfortunately
@@itsneuro wait, did they? can't seem to find their reaction. is it on patreon? or they just watch it without making a reaction video?
Definitely. For me, my top 3 show is
Mr. Robot
Dark
Utopia (UK).
@@rafitegas9715 They watched it before they started reactions :(
They should watch SUCCESSION
Thank you for letting us join you on this journey! I watched this show every week when it originally aired, and it was wonderful getting to watch it again through your eyes/minds. I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts on each episode, you had such great insights. This was such a beautiful ending.
I was disappointed that there wasn't anything more of Olivia. Just like a shot of her celebrating Christmas with her kid or something to show she was doing ok would have been nice to see.
Thank you two for reacting to my favorite show of all time!!!! So happy you enjoyed the ride!
In terms of the revelations in the Finale and watching it live when it aired:
I personally was pretty shocked at the ending and the revelation, but not completely because of the hints about a missing alter and references to 1x04.
I just finished this show...fuckin incredible. Completely blown away. Best finale for a show i've ever seen.
3 years later I still think about Mr Robot everyday
Definitely the best TV shows's ending's ever!!
You two ladies were some of the best friends Elliot ever had
The viewer never saw the real Eliot until the very last scene, and then only his eye.
Such an incredible ending
Hands down, the best series finale ever
This is the best reaction I've ever seen on my favorite TV show ever...thank you
When 'Elliot' challenges 'Christa' and says "this is my life.. it always will be" ... it gives me chills. The music is perfect.
Aaand now you can finally listen to it on the official volume 8 soundtrack, they just released it last week on 5/9.
@@DanY-gx2dv oh wow!!
I don't want this to end again 😭
I'm late to the party but i wanna chime in: I spent the entire season denying Angela's death.
I was 100% sure that we were gonna found out that it was a lie and she was okay and this ending really shattered me.
Thanks so much for another great reaction series girls! This is my 11th series to have watched you both react to fully, and I look forward to the many more to come ❤❤❤
If I hear the M83 song at the end of this episode or the one at the end of the first season, they will BREAK me
I love Sam Esmail and can't wait for his next projects.
greatest ending ever
The "normal" Elliot in his vision is his ideal, but now more than ever is he capable of getting there
I like to believe the real Elliot didn't just abandon his mission of helping people, but can now do it in a way that is not an all in self-sacrifice, or needing alternate personalities to draw out the strength in him. That he can rely on his own confidence and be able to work through the initial trauma that caused the DID in the first place.
that's it, thanks for the reactions to mr. robot
How could we have not seen it the whole time. Mr robot wears the same thing all the time and this Elliot wore the same black hoodie all along
Best show ever. Also, them reacting to Mindhunter would be perfect too.
I just finished watching Mr. Robot the second time. And I just realized that the actual host (the real Elliot) is actually Tyrell Wellick! OMG
Huh? Really? How wtf
What? How?
I’m on a rewatch and I’m already catching some signs bro
Literally no better song for this moment than Outro
Yeah, that's about as close to perfect as a finale can get
I sort of binged this show and caught up by season 4's start, but I didn't process ANYTHING until much later after the show ended
In case you missed it before, here's where Sam Esmail (80s child) got his inspiration for the final re-integration scene.
ua-cam.com/video/8iWmzp7EPPw/v-deo.html
(notice the Star Gate 'tunnel lights' sequence ends at 02:34 with Dave Bowman's eye, as he becomes a Star Child. Able to transcend spacetime boundaries, going from young, to old, to Star Child)
That was a beautiful journey ! Great réactions !
been there from ep1, i was soooo happy when i saw, that u started mr robot, sadly it came to an end, but one of my favorite shows of all time, glad you watched it. keep up the reactions.
3 weeks after I finished and I’m still depressed sad stil not wanting to let go
The perfect ending for a perfect show
"I'm your KING" in song is just like The Real Elliot take back control of his life and his parts stay with him in peace and they finaly can rest, he can take care of himself.
It's a show where each character feels like an actual, fully realized human being with their own desires, feelings and thoughts.
I really believe you two would fall in love with "March comes in like a lion" and I would be beyond happy if you reacted to it.
Thank you for sharing these reactions and your journey with us!
I only just noticed The Mastermind walked out of a blue door and through a red door to let Elliot wake up. Blue pill, red pill. Matrix reference.
OMG The Wire!!! So pumped!!! It will be a perfect show for you two!
We do meet the real Elliot! Two times! In the Shayla flashback and in the halloween flashback
Remember when I 1st watched the show. The last season was just mind bending and brilliant.
Now that its over...
Where does it rank in the best show ever list?
What was their favorite episode?
Favorite moments and charecters?
I don't know why, but I felt joy watching this. Mastermind Elliot made a better world for Real Elliot to live in. Of course, Real Elliot has to get a little update on Angela and friends, but you get my idea. What a ride this series was! :)
Edit: Sometimes, Real Elliot was out there. So the update thing might be easier than I thought at first.
i'm so happy i experienced this with you two
what a perfect journey, enjoyed your reactions so much. your predictions were so on point. very glad you reacted to Mr. Robot, My personal favorite show
and very excited about The Wire, also my favorite show :)
Simply the best tv show ending ever
YES.
So glad you guys finished Mr Robot!! Really enjoyed your videos and crying with you lol. Btw what accent do yall have?
*Top tier series.*
"Fernando Vera" fue un personaje vital para el despertar - concientizar del maestro 🧠 🤗
I love The Wire, but I also wanted Black Sails.😅 Regardless fantastic shows no matter what and I am sure your reactions and discussions will be great as always.😊
Now regarding this finale. It was as perfect of an ending to this amazing show as I could have hoped for. Really hit me hard. Mr. Robot will forever be one of my all time fav series.
Yeah that's so weird. not only is Black sails a better show but it's also the type of show they like. The wire will be like a completely different universe. guess we'll have to see how it goes
It was great watching this show with you. Can't wait for The Wire.
Sad this is ending. Glad you are watching one of my top three next... Just know that you will fall in love with "good" guys AND "bad" guys. As well as hate "good" guys AND "bad" guys. RiP Lance Reddick!
I looked at all your Mr.robot reactions, I left the show at the end of season 2 years ago, your videos helped me want to return to the show and remember the story better, I loved seasons 3 and 4, definitely one of the best series I've seen, I don't know how you did it but you got almost all the theories about the plot right, I couldn't get half of them rigth xd
ps: idk if this is the right place to make recommendations but I think you might like Euphoria, one of my fav shows too🖤
Loved your Breaking Bad reactions, absolutetly LOVED your Mr. Robot reactions and cannot WAIT for your Wire reactions.... Black Sails too. Sad this series has ended, but super excited about tbis next couple...
