I can't believe I just sat here and watched this entire video. I guess it just brought back so many memories of my childhood hearing these things blasting off every Saturday at noon. It's kind of a "creepy cool" sound... if that even makes any sense.
I never thought that there would be a whole group of people so interested in sirens. Although I don’t understand their interest in sirens, a lot of people wouldn’t understand my interest in suspension systems on cars. I find it funny that we can be incredibly interested in such random things, must be a nice hobby though! :)
The Whelen at 17:06 with the reverb sounds amazing. The 1000 looked SO loud even when spooling down, and that Alertronic with the descending and ascending whoops was really interesting, proper rave siren! Thanks for videoing all of this. Next time you’ll need a mic with a higher tolerance to 140 dB ;)
It’s been a real hot minute since since I’ve found myself watching anything siren related, but that V4 powered Mobil-Directo from the thumbnail grabbed my immediate attention
I can't believe I missed this year's SirenCon, though it's my fault for not spending the months leading up to it paying attention to the dates. Next year I'll finally make a trip. I always enjoy seeing the videos afterwards, knowing there's other people into this hobby and this looks like a fun time. Thanks for uploading!
The staff of the event seemed to have overestimated the age of that M lol. It's a later pre-1928. Looks great too, Frankie's a beast at restoring his sirens Nice video 🤘
I have NOT seen you in a long while, not ever since I was 14- I DID NOT EXPECT YOU TO BE IN THIS SIREN CON, KUDOS GOOMAN!! THIS IS SOME AMAZING STUFF!!
The location has a special connection with sirens. The trade-off being 3 sirens installed on the property for a weekend out of the year. I don't think they are open to just any event happening
Since I live with severe weather in Wisconsin I can appreciate how advanced we have become with early warning systems, but it still needs improvement. There are places just here in the United States that still don’t have any warning systems in their communities. That’s really sad when you think how modernization works. Just because there are some people that are less fortunate than others doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be warned too in the case of danger. It shouldn’t even be a political issue either. Many of the older versions of sirens were used for various reasons. And tones were also common to change depending on the crisis. So you might find a higher pitched sound for tornado warnings, another for air raid warning, a nuclear attack, a house fire, a tsunami or an earthquake; one siren did it all. As a civil servant in the community it was our responsibility to help the people get to a safe fallout shelter. A lot of older schools and other buildings had fallout shelters. I’m fearful that we are going to be hearing a lot more sirens in the next few months
I'm wondering if any of these are capable of playing audio such as speech or music. Ive seen videos of people playing music through the more modern ones.
Once I've turned on my Komatsu D355A bulldozer, 2500 kW Triton Diesel Generator TP-C2500-T1-C-60, and Republic F-84H Thunderscreech and feel that it's still too quiet around my house, I play this video on my iPhone.
The Federal 500 at the end measured 133 dBC when it was facing us. I don’t have a dB meter so I can’t say for certain the rest of the lineup. The Thunderbolt 1000 was definitely the loudest siren there this year
I kinda doubt the alarms will be coming in handy despite the ongoing war threats globally. However it would be morbidly hilarious seeing siren owners go "our day has come" in the midst of it, and we get to hear tons of antique sirens across the country.
@@benjaminbrown3939 man I saw that- from what I hear, the chopper didn’t entirely explode, but a section broke off, jammed the chopper, and seized the motor in an instant

I’d probably get another fine from my HOA for doing this. Only one way to find out.

They finally found something louder than Reed Timmer during a tornado 😂😂😅
A decibel meter would be great to get a sense of how loud they are! 32:45 brings back memories!
31:39 yeah just plugging one ear with your finger is a great idea.
ya gotta manually balance the tinnitus at some point.

great video! ^w^
This is humbling to watch.
it's perhaps more humiliating to say that we clicked on this video
WOW !!!
Time to join a new interesting hobby group
I'm glad this convention is being hosted outdoors... lmao
Can't even imagine what this would be like inside a typical convention center 😆
Awesome!
Would this location let us use it for car audio shows?
It’s a Boy Scouts camp, so probably not. The parking lots aren’t that big either
The location has a special connection with sirens. The trade-off being 3 sirens installed on the property for a weekend out of the year. I don't think they are open to just any event happening
It seems like the alerttronic was on a occulator and not have those rings that allow the siren to rotate without snapping wires
Yes, it's a oscillating model
@@seanjuth I think that model is not as common as the ones with those rings that allow the siren to rotate full 360 degrees

9:20 " THE TOILET" sounds sick lol. It sounds low pitched for some reason.

The B&N Mobil Directo was originally a gas powered siren, but some are still active running on a conversion to electricity instead of gas.
you should tell that to everyone who calls the Mobil Directo BN52 "gas powered Mobil Directo"
1:31:16 is that the 500- SH-TT from lombard?
Yes it is
@@goomanhlr5697 ahh, seemed like it.

hell yeah
With a little audio editing you can make some real cool ring tones
I wanna explain somethin.
Why does mobil directo have wheels for rotating instead of motor to rotator gear?
Why would you go to a siren con and not bring your own ear protection
Watch out with those things!
You might lure SIRENHEAD!!
You might anger the siren gods using that phrase! Careful!
If you keep pressing right arrow it sounds like carnival horror music

They were, they were just wearing ear plugs
@@goomanhlr5697 Some of them probably had that, but I have still seen some of them putting their fingers in their ears.
A db meter reading would be nice although it would probably just be pegged out.
