It's on the far side of the Race Track. So the need for a shuttle bus. Yet no west bound trains, so they have to use the spur that is actually at the track to go back west. Plus most of the fans are coming from Nassau or Western Suffolk Counties. The train is useless for them. This was done as a political fell good measure to help get approval for the stadium. The spur is only useful during the Belmont stakes and as a spur can not accommodate regular scheduled service.
@@AI_Image_Master How was this a feel good measure? It made sense to build a station for mainline through service as plenty of Long Islanders do take the train? Not only that, but why did the arena need political approval in the first place when very little politics was involved?
I hate when people slap the word "Historic" onto something. do you think in 2150 they are going to say "what historic event happened in 2021? a train station opened." like what? And why did it cost a BILLION dollars to build ONE station anyway? whats it made out of Limestone and Granite from Greece?
Property values will go up happily says the lady. So will the outrageous property tax on the overpriced homes. My mother's 1700 sq' LI house with a market value of $450k costs $10k in prop tax while my $450k 3000 sq' pool home on a 1/3 acre 5 miles from the beach proper tax cost $2800 a year plus only a 6% sales tax and no state income tax.
After the 2023 Belmont Stakes well dressed fans had to leave the station area and walk several hundred feet to the street at Bellerose Terrace. People were hanging around Superior Road which do not have shelter, or seats while waiting for their ride. Some had to relieve themselves behind parked cars along 242nd Street.
There is PLENTY OF PARKING. You can even go a step further and park FREE in the neighborhood if you don’t mind a short walk. The arena is sandwiched between 3 major highways-northern state, southern state and cross island parkway. EASY ACCESS from anywhere on Long Island and queens. They are supposed to run a shuttle bus to take you to a LIRR station 🤬. F that! 😂. After a game, who the hell wants to wait for a bus to go to a train to stand to ronkonkoma which will probably arrive jam packed with rangers, knicks, nets fans, concert fans. To me, that just takes the fun out of it. I will definitely drive. I’ll take turns being the designated driver. The games start at 7:00 and rush hour traffic is going in the opposite direction! And even if there is a little traffic, I’m warm and cozy in my own car! $20 round trip for the train or $10 parking + gas. Seems like a no brainer to me.
that arena was built in a very bad spot i wouldnt even think of driving leaving a game will be a fucking nightmare and no ronkonkoma trains even will stop there
@@NickyD the time it takes you to sit in a little traffic when the game breaks will probably be the same time as waiting for a shuttle bus to pack into that thing which will equally sit in the traffic to take you to a LIRR station to stand in a train all the way to ronkonkoma? That’s ok. I’ll be nice and warm and cozy in my car. How bad can the traffic be? You’re not driving to the shity or Brooklyn. The cross island parkway is 30 seconds away! 😂
@@grazz7865 Dude you and I both know that even "a little" Long Island traffic is shit. Also, I have a feeling most suburban and eastward fans will be driving while the fans in Brooklyn and the boroughs will need the train. A multi-faceted transportation approach is always nice. What I don't understand is why build a new station farther away when you already have Belmont Park station right next to the arena that could have been refurbished.
@@cosmo5164 very well put! To be fair, I gave it the benefit of the doubt and tried the train. Dude, it was a shit show. Yeah, it's nowhere near Elmont or UBS.
well they can't exactly move the main line
@@ryanharrigan3655 No, but they already have a large terminal station connected to it that's designed to serve large crowds: *Belmont Park.*
@@Neillan That's only opened seasonally.

Sounds like a house I was trying to buy. I said “wait a minute. You want a million f’n dollars for wood, vinyl and shitrock!?”
What the hell were they doing? They literally only needed to build 2 side platforms and a station house!
@@robotx9285 wasting OUR (taxpayer) money to the tune of $11 Billion! Whether we use the station or not, we’re paying it back.
Fantastic!
How about installing elevators at Douglaston Station? LIRR needs to make all stations ADA compliant.
The LIRR Should Open Levittown Station
Marcia Kramer was there as well!!

When you live close to an economic powerhouse like NYC and not in a rural area then the pros and the cons cancel out.
What a shame in 50 years! What a victory
And not one thing to do with helping the community

what was the last station to open 50 years ago?
Southampton Campus- a station which doesn't even exist anymore

Yes..
