    Thanks again for these videos. I think I’ve picked up something in each one I’ve watched so far. It’s interesting to see a different kit being built and they also just help with motivation as well.

      You are very welcome and thanks for your kind comments. The build part of these kits is very rewarding especially when you approach it with patience, lots of patience. I am glad that you are following and I can help with tips. I hope you continue to watch right through to completion.

    Tony, you certainly don’t want binding, but bushings wear in over time so don’t make them loose either. Of course with the amount of miles you will actually drive the tank over years it probably doesn’t matter.

      Thank you and yes I agree. I cleaned these up so they ran freely but not loose. A nice snug fit. Hope you continue to watch and follow.

    Want to talk about a slow build. I have a 2005 early Tiger 1 kit and only have the hull and one side of tracks done. It’s turning into a lifetime project. It will take a lifetime for me to finish it.
    The newer kits seem to be a bit better build. Good luck with yours.

      Hi Chris, Thanks for watching and also your comment. My understanding is that yes, Armortek made improvements to the build process so the later kits are more user friendly, but still require that careful and patient approach. I wouldn't concern yourself over the time it takes to build, because the build process for me is the most rewarding, slow or regular progress is still progress..I wish you luck in your build and if I can help with lessons learned on my build, I will gladly assist...Thanks again for watching...Tony

    Great work Tony the Tank ,great to see the younger generation taking an interest in model building. Good work with the brass bushes lucky you did research before. Nothing worse than a miss numbered item good you found it.

    Very informative videos.
    Is the hull floor made of steel or aluminum?

    • @tonys_workshop
      @tonys_workshop  Рік тому

      Hi and thank you for watching. It varies. This Hetzer kit is a steel plate, but the M26 was aluminium.

      Hi Nigel. Thank you for watching and commenting. These were made by :
      www.churchillcreations.co.uk/
      Contact a guy called Sym...he is amazing.
      Hope this helps.

      Can I be cheeky and ask how much they cost. Did you buy the figures then they sort them out. Did they come with the baskets. Cheers

    • @tonys_workshop
      @tonys_workshop  Рік тому

      Hi Nigel, The cost varies according to how much animation you want. I went for head, arms, neck and torso movement. So..you find your donor figures..I bought Dragon figures, but used ones not boxed as these are cheaper...You send the figures to Sym and he takes them apart. He uses the head, hands and uniform only as he makes a new torso and arms so the link to the many servos used. He supplies and attaches the basket and sends them back to you partially dressed and the arms detached so you can pass them through the hatches. To reconnect the arms and dress is very straight forward. Hope this helps...

      @nigelsinclair-1094 Рік тому

      I have the 2 dragon figures in my tank so I’ll use them. So what did you pay for your movement as they look like what I would want. Cheers.

      @@nigelsinclair-1094 Hi Nigel. They are very expensive...You will need to ask Sym...He knows me so if you contact him and tell him you want what he supplied to me, he will price this up...be prepared...get a cushion to soften the blow...but these can run up to £250 each if he makes them...you can purchase the kits from him at a fraction of the cost for you to assemble yourself, but not knowing much about this area, I opted for him to do the build for me...Hope this helps..

    Just subbed, interested in following this project. Coming from an engineering background I find it rather disconcerting that you are having to remove burrs and swarf from those bushes and threads. The tolerances of those components are obviously not being checked after the machining process at the factory. Swarf and burrs should be removed after machining, otherwise you will get false readings using measuring equipment, leading to quality issues. Great presentation though, considering your new to youtube, look forward to the tanks progress.

    • @tonys_workshop
      @tonys_workshop  Рік тому +1

      Thank you and I have also just subbed to your channel..Yes there are some minor manufacturing finishing issues, but for the most part Armortek kits are up there for quality and trueness...some basic skills get round these minor issues and I think it makes it more interesting to a model builder.. after-all we love a challenge don't we? Thanks also for watching and I hope that you continue to follow.

    All that money for a metal kit and you have to deburr parts? Really?
    What’s the idea behind that, is it to give customers something to do?

    • @tonys_workshop
      @tonys_workshop  Рік тому

      Hi Monty, yes probably. Although I think it adds to the sense of achievement. If it was just bolt together out of the box, it would just be a very expensive meccano set. Thanks for watching and commenting.
