The clarity as the snares jump to the edge after the cowbell stuff, is still 20 years later some of my absolute favorite stuff to listen to. Learned this back in the day and I still go back and play through it often!
I miss the big tenor "cookie" mallets!!! they felt great, they had that full sound, you could keep your hands low and still get great quality when moving around the drums, they looked cool, and the aluminum cores REALLY cut when playing rimshots and skanks.
Seeing them live was such a hype. Never seen anyone hit the drum that hard. Crystal clear quality. Unisons that would split your head open. Insane. Definitely a legendary era.
Always glad to hear some Eric Ward love. I was lucky enough to learn under him for a few years during my time at Troy. He had a big impact on my playing, including how I approach playing the kit in jazz and other other settings. I always wished we had him more involved in the drumline! But he was on another path in music. But, man, the few times he did work with us as a line... it was like you said: Drum Yoda coming down from on high to impart some wisdom. But I think the biggest influence he had was just his attitude. He was always incredibly nonchalant and calm, and very matter-of-fact in his demeanor and teaching. It made you feel sure that he knew what he was talking about, and also made him approachable. All of this really helped me focus and settle down as a player, and most importantly to just play in time more consistently and not worry so much about licks and chops. Props to y'all for the wisdom you provide, too! This channel is really a gem for anyone into marching percussion.
Eric is an incredible teacher and equally incredible dude, haven’t heard anyone ever say a negative thing about him. Awesome to hear about his impact on you!
My snare tech in 06’ marched the 3 peat (01,02,03) Nick Saputo. Fantastic drummer and human being and gone too soon ❤ This line was insaneeeee . This was my first summer of drum corps and when you watched them live, it inspired you to want to be great
93 for me. Was 14 and hyped as f back than. The cadence part where they come from the back with a totally different tempo and join the brass was more than crazy
This is the year they came to California, right? That was some of the finest playing I've ever seen, and it was June. It's risky to "call it" - "they're going to win drums", but I called this one!
Didn't expect a shoutout to my Alma Mater (Troy) when I clicked on the video lol. It's been 2-3 years so idk if Eric's still around but he was dope whenever I saw him while I was there. Also for the algorithm✌️
Off topic here sorry. But I believe you guys did an interview with someone who marched in the 1986 BD drumline, could you tell me what video that is? :) KUTGW!!
Thanks for the kind words and the throwback! Best summer of my life. - the kid who lay on the ground for the snare solo.
Vern Johnson BD Tenor great circa 1987-1992 was the tenor tech for the Cadets 2003-05

I love both of your reactions at 12:05! Also I really wish I could have seen this show and drumline live. So much energy and talent.
Loudest drumline I’ve heard live from the stands.
When will you upload again 😕
@6:43 Cadets classic heel lift phrase ender Bom BaDOM!

Kyle was our bass tech in ‘07 at Memphis Sound! Love that guy
Dude 100 reactions. Thank you for all of your content. It’s really awesome to see some vets from the activity get hyped up. God bless🙏🏼
I hadn’t even realized this was the 100th one. Kind of wild, haha. Thanks for pointing that out!
You know you're old when your drumline is referred to as a "throwback", lol. Great stuff, as always, guys. "Liked" and "subscribed".
Kinda crazy that 3 of Cadets best years for percussion are 93, 03, and 13 :)
makes me excited for 23
@@jordanmiller1759 yoooo i didn’t think about that lol

Looking forward to the season starting!
You are absolutely right about mallets producing a better sound on tenors
Gonna go to Allentown and see some bd and bluecoats in august

Nothing like OG Cadets drumlines
Classic Aungst never goes out of style
Does anyone have a transcript or sheet music for the Tenor Solo?

Y’all should get EMC productions/ Eric Carr on the podcast! He marched crown 2010 and numerous indoor groups!
Yea I marched crown with him. -Evan
2003 sounds a lot like 1994: ua-cam.com/video/Hyqx2PKyNjo/v-deo.html oh Bill... oh Bill...
Every year the season gets shorter
