I followed you because the commonality of being PD patient. You discussed being a former basketball player but I recently seen you starring in movies!! Gives so much inspiration
Honestly, if I saw you on the streets I wouldn't even think you were on dialysis! I just started down this journey recently and was considering purchasing some of these items off Amazon per recommendation from my PD nurse. Thank you for showing how some of these products work.
First off, you are beautiful! I use the elastic belt, I really like it. I use some tape too. I don’t think I would like the necklace one. The belt is way more secure. Thanks.
The belt looks good. Im on year 2 and going on a work trip to Domincan Republic . Searched for ways to hide or cover up the catheter. The belt looks like the best option. maybe a small bandage than the 4x4. could probably get by with 2 by 2 for the 5 days. not being active. I usually put 3 tapes on the side since im active and worry about it getting caught and pulled on. but its always covered. winter months are easy.
Its ok to be afraid but do not let fear consume you. Allow it to drive you to logical choices to get better. I myself am afraid bc i provide for my family in many ways and worry how they would navigate without me. One day at a time and we will get there
I know how u feel i had double kidney failure i was young was 28 turning 29 when i started dialyis on there from 2013 to 2017 kidney transplant may 12 2017 may 12 2024 was on hemo dialyis mines been in my arm 11 years oct 21 this year having my vascular surgery get mines took out this monday god is good hope you stay strong be off soon
I had CKD Stage 4/5 for about 8 years, I was on the inactive list, I had a AV Fistula for Several years to prepare for Dialysis, and it eventually clotted, I did not get another one put in. Few more years went by, then my numbers started going down month by month, so kidney dr said to get a Graph, same arm as the failed fistula. About another few months, I went to the ACTIVE list, and about 2 weeks later I got a Kidney Transplant, but I had been on the list for little over 8 years, and since it was a lot of time, I got a kidney from someone who died. I did not have to do Dialysis, but was prepared. My brother has stage 5, and is doing Dialysis, I tell him what all he needs to do. Currently he goes 3 times a week for Dialysis with the 2 needles, been doing it since Dec 23. I am the older brother, be 64 in Dec 2024, he is 63yo. He says the needs hurt so bad, that he is going to do Peritoneal dialysis, he has class in a week or so, I went through the classes little over 9 years ago, but since he now wants to do Peritoneal dialysis I am refreshing my memory. I was searching the web, and seen your video, I too was worried how to secure the access. I will send him this link as well, BUT the belt is the way I would go to, the other string thing just doesn't look secure, and as you said, you can't really hide it, and if you could, I still would not use it, as it just doesn't look like it would secure the access compared to the belt.
Just curious to how you still like either product after using for a while. Im new to this journey just got my first flush this morning and the tape just isnt holding the tubing. Im thinking ill like the belt for me. It seems more secure. But ive read the lanyard is good for showering.
I like my ring holder, I just tighten the lanyard so the port actually is sitting a little on my chest. I tried the belt and it was horribly uncomfortable.
I feel like the lanyard is more for loose fitting clothes and the belt for more tight fitting 🤔 does the belt feel super secure...even with a lot of activity/movement ???
Hello from Philippines, im just a new Pd dialysis patient and its really hard for my body to adopt the solution , pls give me more advice . Isn't it hurt when u do manual dialysis and are u able to get the enough amount of solution
That's what the manuals are for. I would just disconnect from the machine and then, either fill or drain using the manual bag, which has a drain bag attached.
I always wanted to try the lanyard , I’m allergic to the tape adhesive and the Velcro belt was uncomfortable kept slipping down and itchy so I just tuck mine up into my bra for now 😩
You are too young and pretty to be restricted by a lanyard around your neck, not to mention the safety issues. The PD surgeon placed my sister's cath slightly under her breasts, dead center, and it has been a major hassle to work around. She likes to dress nice and look good, even when she would go to the center. The placement has made wearing a bra impossible, and in the summer, she is very uncomfortable from the heat. I'm a fairly good seamstress, so I have made some bra-type garments for her, including concealing the tube. Adapting is the only way to get through this unique journey. Best wishes to you.
@@sereneaura3291 OMG! That's like.....33 oz! Gurllllllll! I mean...they couldn't have lowered that amount and allowed you to just do an extra exchange later?
Hey, Dawn you look absolutely amazing. I was on Hemodialysis for 6 years until my kidney/Pancreas transplant in October of 2016.💯💪
I followed you because the commonality of being PD patient. You discussed being a former basketball player but I recently seen you starring in movies!! Gives so much inspiration
I'm so glad. Just a reminder that CKD doesn't have to stop us.
Hi hi Dawn. I like your video thank you so much. But I like the belt! GOD BLESS YOU❤️🙏
Thank you for doing this video. The belt seemed like a good option.
Honestly, if I saw you on the streets I wouldn't even think you were on dialysis!

Usually how the dialysis patients look like ? Tired? Skinny? How ?
The belt!!👌
Thank you for links to all the supplies
You're welcome
First off, you are beautiful!
I use the elastic belt, I really like it. I use some tape too.
I don’t think I would like the necklace one. The belt is way more secure.
Thanks.
The belt is much better. I would use the necklace for support when bathing. I am not a patient but a PD nurse
The bathing is actually a good idea for the necklace
Great idea! It's a major nuisance during a bath. The lanyard would help a lot.
I'm not a PD patient but have a medical background, and feel that the belt is safer, as long as if comfortable for you.
Thank you for sharing I like the first one❤
I think the belt is better. This is what I need to look into. I'm will be starting this sometime this December. Thank you for your help.
I will start soon too and the string is more for when you shower. I have seen it on the stickman website.

Keep up the good spirits it will take you through the journey.
You r so Adorable! Wishing you well my friend
Thank you so much 🤗
Thank you ..I had a transplant 30 years ago . A week from Monday I start dialysis .this is helpful
Wow your transplant lasted 30 years!! that's incredible, you took great care of it.. Goodluck to you on your dialysis journey.
@@DawnRaven yes , I was lucky that my oldest sister was a perfect match . Thank you .
I think the second one would be more for the shower I have something similar that I use for the shower. I do PD as well
Thank you for these videos. You are a God sent. I was and am still afraid but Thank you . I will use the belt.
We’re in this together, you got it!!

You look great and I will forward this Info to my daughter that will get her implant on Friday. Love the belt not so much the other one. Thanks.
Yeah my pd nurse gave me the belt. It works great
Thanks for sharing your story
Thanks for listening
Thank you for the videos. I get my catheter in a couple of weeks and trying to understand how PD works 💕✨
You got it!!!
@@DawnRaven Thank you!! I hope you’re doing well. Blessings 🙏🏽
Thanks. I"m a PD virgin, waiting for my training. I was worried about hiding and protecting this tube.
I like the built is better for you Dawn❤
Thank you ! What’s a good idea for the belt! . I used the necklace for bathing. 💝👍👍
You are so welcome.. the necklace is amazing for bathing.
What is this necklace you guys are talking about? Sorry this is all new to me as a PD patient
I think the belt gives the most support. Maybe necklace when lounging. Thank you

The black belt is best

The belt looks really nice. The lanyard not so much.
I like it.
To hnd bag is not it. The belt looks very secure and reliable. Have a great day.
I want to know what you say to people (if it ever does come up), when they ask "omg what the hell is that thing?"
As they slowly back away..... 🥺
I like my ring holder, I just tighten the lanyard so the port actually is sitting a little on my chest. I tried the belt and it was horribly uncomfortable.
I think the belt would be much better for going out, but the lanyard would be good around the house if you’re having a lazy day.
I agree they both have their individual advantages.
Thank you so much…!
Where did you get the one for the stomach at and do they have them for bigger people
did you have alot of swelling/bloating after surgery?
The necklace one is used when taking a shower
I feel like the lanyard is more for loose fitting clothes and the belt for more tight fitting 🤔 does the belt feel super secure...even with a lot of activity/movement ???
It does, Its also adjustable with velcro
Hello from Philippines, im just a new Pd dialysis patient and its really hard for my body to adopt the solution , pls give me more advice . Isn't it hurt when u do manual dialysis and are u able to get the enough amount of solution
How do you take a bath?
That being around the neck is a liability. Think final destination. I rock with the belt.
The belt!!!
The 1st one
What do you do if your are in your last drain and your supply line mess up?
That's what the manuals are for. I would just disconnect from the machine and then, either fill or drain using the manual bag, which has a drain bag attached.

Damn u hide if welll
Couldn’t even tell the way you hide it
Thanks for this
Getting surgery for port in 2 days
Bittersweet right ?
I think it's to keep the catheter from dangling during your shower.
The belt is for everyday use.
What should happen ur post transplant ......
Sorry I don’t understand the question
hi i am new i am scared i am worried starting dialysis on Monday
Normal to be scared about it. It's strange at first, but you'll get used to it. Which form of Dialysis are you doing?
Glad I watched this I didn’t know the lanyard made it hang so low like that
Definitely the belt. Especially if you're active.
Exactly.
hello dawn 🙂
The belt
how cool is sexy dawn, friendly, pretty, and so knowledgable x
What is that brand and model of the first pd holder you bought off Amazon
There’s a list in description box for easy access for you

Belt ia safer
My stomach is bloated due to the amount diasylate fluid I carry around all day
How much do you carry during the day?
@@DawnRaven 1000ml
@@sereneaura3291 ok I understand the bloating, I typically have in 1400 throughout the day

@@MakeWay4CJ I did dialysis at night for 8 hours while I slept. The only time they suggested manual exchanges was if the power went out.
Thank you 👍🙏🙏
This is where women excel, men would probably use duct tape or leave it hanging in their pocket.
Some cool ideas here.
Lol this tickled me. We got you covered.
