I can only agree with @MaxenceLasserreEngberts. Literally sent shivers across my skin. Listened to scores of arrangements and interpretations on here, but this I love.
If you look up the dance pavane from renaissance era it is a courtly processional dance that presents the nobility to the king and queen. It was meant to show off grace and dignity and fine attire. This story Ravel created is about a young beautiful princess, decked out in a stunning dress sparkling jewelry tenatively taking her first steps in royal court. Its is full of anxiety and awe and beauty. Its not about a princess dying, rather he is reincarnating a princess from long ago in his imagination.
I love this piece and it is one of the best interpretation i heard. It is in fact much more complex to play than it looks! An d here the song part is clearly and lighty expressed where the rest stay in the backgfound in a subtle manner.
C'est très beau, 😍belle interprétation, mais c'est la première fois que je le suis avec la partition, ça a l'air difficile, il faut de grandes mains pour le jouer!
Have you heard the Van Cliburn version? It's amazing! It has so much innocence, you would swear a despondent 12 year old was playing it at the beginning.
Thank you for uploading my rendition.
Absolutely gorgeous performance.

Splendid playing of the most bittersweet piece of music ever written.

Such a beautiful and peaceful piece!
I love it ❤ ❤
You can really hear the deep roots of Jazz in some parts!
You can hear it almost anywhere…
💙💙💙💙💙
What a sweet piece, I'll never get bored of.
You can hear the influence of Satie in the harmony.
Very good play my friend 😊
Interesting note: The first bar going to the first beat of the second bar reminds me of Stevie Wonder’s, “You Are The Sunshine Of My Life”.
