Thank you so much for your wonderful video. I have just spent the most part of an afternoon, today, trying to thread the needles on my pleater, without them all falling off....I knew there had to be a better way!. I haven't used it for about 30 years, so I am a little rusty on the finer points. Your tip to turn the pleater over is brilliant! I wish I knew about that about 4 hours ago!....Thank you so much, I have begun to watch your videos, and I have to say you are a wealth of information. I know I am going to learn a great deal from you. So glad I found you!
The Sally Stanley stopped being made over 10 years ago, the Read Maxi or the Princess are the only two machines being made that I stock. Thanks Christine
I'm so happy to have found you! I got this pleater in a estate sale and doesn't have the dowel. Can you tell me the dimensions of the dowel to make one please?
Tricky to explain but here goes, the side bars are like a letter C so the fabric passes through the gap at each side, so the fabric can be as wide and as long as you like, the main thing is that you can only pleat 24 full space rows at a time. Hope this makes sense? Maybe look at my Princess Pleater video which works in the same way. Thanks Christine
@@houseofsmocking I already have the sally stanley machine but I can't get it to work properly, the fabric and needles come out of the upper roller instead of the lower one :(
You can buy from my website houseofsmocking.co.uk if you are not in the UK then the UK tax will be deducted once you add postage. Price in the UK is £18.60 for a pack of 24.
The Sally Stanley is no longer available but the needles are for people who still have one. I sell the Princess pleater and the Read Maxi Pleater on my website houseofsmocking.co.uk thanks Christine

You can use lots of different lengths for different projects, any dowel half inch diameter or less should be fine

Hello. Thanks for the video. I would like to ask if this machine allows you to insert large pieces of fabric.
