This is an incredible film. Hard to believe it exists sometimes. A different take on the themes of The Fox and the Hound that really goes all out with some of the ideas that film left unexplored. If you've seen the Ringing Bell you may be surprised with how this movie approaches the wolf and goat companion plot. The relationship between the protagonists here is in many ways unprecedented and kind of revolutionary. Definitely a unique movie.
Tbh, this seems so much better than the two movies you named, and better message for kids too. I'm not a fan of Fox & the Hound, but compared to a lot of Disney movies from the time, it's one of the less problematic ones. it's a bit too dark and plus I didn't understand the message, and there were some scenes that made me straight up angry! I can't even watch the Ringing Bell/Chirin's bell. It's too creepy to me and it's way too dark and emotional for my personal taste. I know this comment is 9 years old but now I compare it to Zootopia, which has a similar message to One stormy night but One stormy night doesn't bring up politics and I think it's more relatable.
Both situations have the child running for it's life while the mother gets killed. Sad music plays and is followed by happy music and beautiful scenery. I thought those scenes were pretty similar.
I don't think anyone understands that this kinda fandubbed but the voices are legitly from professional voice actors so it makes sense why this movie stays up. There really is no English dub for this movie. Thanks to a channel that no longer exists this is a masterpiece
Every year or so I check to see if this is still around and give it a watch. Every time I look I'm still amazed it's up and can't help but think how fortunate we are to have this film and it's fantastic dub that was produced with care by one dude (mostly)
I last watched this in 2018 so I was pleasantly surprised when it showed up on my youtube home dashboard. I discovered it in 2013 its such a good film and fandub!
Well sort of, when I was at a university I was swinging on the swing near a church, then a girl came up to me. She told me she was a student too from Pakistan. We became good friends so quickly. Some people told me people from around Pakistan were were dangerous but I didn’t believe them for a second. I befriend everyone no matter their race religion or belief.
@soothing_ocean7982 The people who made the remake probably thought it would fit better with him being a girl. I have to disagree and say the original take here was better. The series is good non the less.
Mai is the name of the goat who befriends the wolf, and he is the son of the goat who bit off the pack leader's ear. It's possible that the pack leader remembers Mai, and that's why why he wants him
omg best movie ever. No movie has made me cry like that. WHY IS THIS MOVIE NOT SUPER POPULER. I swear 10 out of 10. One of the best movies i have ever watched if not the best movie I have ever watched.
I started out with the male-female version and finally found this version. I definitely like this one better! Its alot less girly sounding and more about friendship. Wuv it!
Skwisgaar4256 But why? He has horns , he's not a "little" baby goat. I like that they made him older. The common "cute little animal thing lose their mother" is really not creative.
I made some AMV over 10 years ago and this is still my favorite "anime" if you an call it that. So many memories, so many times I've watched it back then. I akin it to minecraft cause I discovered it along the same timeframe. Love it all.
I for one wouldn't care if they were gay, but there needs to be a time and a place for it, just as much as there needs to be a place for platonic friendships and bromance. In a way that's even more important, because you shouldn't need to be in love to risk your life for someone. It's kind of low to look at two people who so much as like each other, and just assume they're having sex. Not enough people get that.
I kinda agree. The reason why I don't ship them IT'S A FREAKING TEENAGE GOAT AND AN ADULT WOLF! I personally think it's cringey in movies when they couples are two different species (I can handle a dog and a wolf, but not a sheep or goat with a wolf). Also, i feel liek they're closer in love if they're both friends. I feel like their bond is more special
You know, I heard mixed things about this dub...and it's certainly a little odd how it came about. Now that I've seen it, I think it's actually quite good and one of the better dubs out there, which says a lot coming from a sub purist like me. There are a few lines that could have been better (and I didn't care for Mina's voice actress), but the mixing was excellent and I enjoyed the translation very much, even more than some of the subbed versions I've seen. I'm glad I gave the dub a try, and Tustin deserves major kudos for putting this whole thing together almost entirely on his own without compensation.
Mei sounds like if the word "Goat" was made into an accent and Gabu sounds like a pirate. Jokes aside, this was one of the most genuine and adorable movies I've ever watched. I even cried a couple times in the third act.
well okay, since you guys asked an' all(the really GOOD ones): -Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles (and the OVAs) -xxxHolic -Moribito -Michiko To Hatchin -Reborn -Wolf’s Rain -Eden of the East -07 Ghost -Trinity Blood -Skip Beat -Princess Tutu -Romeo x Juliet -Saiunkoku Monogatari -Natsume Yuujinchou -the Third: The Girl With the Third Eye -No. 6 -A Little Snow Fairy Sugar -Gargantua on the Virtuous Planet -Hanasaku Iroha -Glass Mask -Space Brothers -Code Geass -Tegami Letter Bee BUT WAIT, THERES MORE! (no seriously this was only a fraction of my list)
i really never like it when wolves are pretty much always monsters... The only movies and animations I have seen that make wolves Protagonists are Alpha and Omega, Off-White, Cow of The Wild and Eighty-Six. Wolves are not evil.... How would I know? I breed them... They're only evil if treated bad.
The opening scene is so morbid jfc. You literally watch the wolves eat Mei's mother Still love this film regardless Also, how do you go from a horrific scene of animal nature to a silly scene of a goat running away from lighting?
i have to say first scene brought back the bambi memories T~T and also cringed when the wolf and goat were talking but ya know i think the cringe isn't over just yet
+IMMACYCLOPS I watched it a while ago but I don't think I cried the first time. Maybe after a second time, tears will be spoutin' from these water fountains we call eyes.
That is actually how I stumbled upon Arashi no Yoru Ni initially, searching for Chirrin no Suzu (Ringing Bell). They are quite different in some key ways though, the ending in particular and the overall tone of the film.

More like the Fox and the hound meets brokeback mountain
"That's unfortunate"
Oh my God Mei is that really all you could think to say when he told you his mother was dead? Sheesh
well damn... mei....
Lol
some Veronica Sawyer levels of not giving a shit about dead parents tbh
He didn’t know how she died
"That's rough buddy"
*cute goat mom thingy gets eaten*
*saaad music*
*logo and happy music pops up for all of a sudden*
Me: LOL *throws away desk*
Just like *Bambi.*
Not really.
Both situations have the child running for it's life while the mother gets killed.
Sad music plays and is followed by happy music and beautiful scenery.
I thought those scenes were pretty similar.
But it'd probably make more sense to compare this to The Fox and the Hound.
+IMMACYCLOPS Yeah, like when Tod's mother gets herself killed for him.
10:50
"But sometimes I threw up."
*pause* "Is that... Is that the end of the story?"
"Yeah."
*pause* "That's a great fuckin' story bro."
Not even three minutes in and I'm already crying
My right ear enjoyed this
... The right part of my headphones arent working ... I was thinking there is something wrong with the movie
Ha my left headphone wasn't working ether
Yes agreed
Mine works
Ikr like smh
I first saw this years ago and never once forgot it. It's one of the better best friend stories I've ever seen.
Me too
well, i just started, and just got a scene sadder than that time Bambi's mother got shot.
Well, shit.
Bambi - *gunshot* Done.
This movie - *eat* *blood* *yelps* *teeth*
XD
I don't think anyone understands that this kinda fandubbed but the voices are legitly from professional voice actors so it makes sense why this movie stays up. There really is no English dub for this movie. Thanks to a channel that no longer exists this is a masterpiece
Yea even this much later trying to find this movie anywhere else except for youtube is a nightmare, at least digitally
Every year or so I check to see if this is still around and give it a watch. Every time I look I'm still amazed it's up and can't help but think how fortunate we are to have this film and it's fantastic dub that was produced with care by one dude (mostly)

THE LAMB SOUNDS LIKE A TEEN
THE WOLF SOUNDS LIKE HITLER
GOOD ENOUGH
XD
lol XD
AGREED
YES XD
Nightcore Collection I think Mei is supposed to be a teen.
This is the greatest fucking thing ever . . .
It figures you'd say that ;)
+Sabun Beras Thailand Murah How does it work?
Anyone have a moment like that? Where you make friends with the kind of person you were told to avoid?
The_nightwalkers having a wolf for a friend means having protection aganist other wolves for a goat
I had that moment lol
Where I had friends who talk about gay stuff and my family is christian so they didn't like my friends
Came here from Ringing Bell.. Having an anime movie marathon! XD
"I can't see a thing in here"
* Walks into beam *
WELL DONE
SHE RIPPED OFF HIS EAR!!! You go goat mom
Edit: I wish she had lived ;-;
True! Best animated mom!
#girlboss
If they wanted mei to look like an innocent little goat, they did SUCH a good job. Mainly because of his eyes.
The eyes are so good even in other scenes especially later in the movie his face made me cry sometimes.
There is a series were they made him a female instead, and when I see this movie I was just wondering why they decided to change it?
@soothing_ocean7982 The people who made the remake probably thought it would fit better with him being a girl. I have to disagree and say the original take here was better.
The series is good non the less.
wait, so the mother bit the wolf's ear off and the pack leader missing an ear
yep
Kioda Cynthia could THIS be why he's so determined to get mai, her son?
Elizabeth Charlton I'm not following. ^^'
Mai is the name of the goat who befriends the wolf, and he is the son of the goat who bit off the pack leader's ear. It's possible that the pack leader remembers Mai, and that's why why he wants him
Elizabeth Charlton I know what the story is about, but I'm confused on what your trying to analyze.
*watches the first 3 minutes* Holy shit its Bambi all over again.
oh god my feels D':
Im crying T-T
this was my childhood man.,,,
If only Pokemon was like this
Not to sound like a noob or anything, but Mei and the others aren't lambs. They're goats.
IT'S YOU!
I thought you put Arashi in your name for a different reason!
I was right :)
god I hope one day this doesn't get taken down, like a bunch of other things
ikr, this is too good to be thrown away
+Swedishwolfy Kat actually, they got rights to put it up on youtube sou you're safe
Swedishwolfy Kat
One year later, it's still up for new people to enjoy!
+Swedishwolfy Kat It's still going strong! :D
They got rights to make one
omg best movie ever. No movie has made me cry like that. WHY IS THIS MOVIE NOT SUPER POPULER. I swear 10 out of 10. One of the best movies i have ever watched if not the best movie I have ever watched.
Thank you so much for uploading it!! I love it! Its the cutest and touching anime movie i have ever watched! ToT
What if the circle of life reversed? Like goats eating wolves or zebras hunting lions down?
I started out with the male-female version and finally found this version. I definitely like this one better! Its alot less girly sounding and more about friendship. Wuv it!
yeah the fact that they made Mei a girl in the show is a little weird XD I prefer this too but i love both
'friendship'
I watched this movie when I was little and have been searching for it forever!!! I love this so much!
All I did was see a YTP and now I'm crying :-(
Imaperson ^u^
or AwfulFawfulthefalafle? X3
Or maybe even SonicHaXD's???
Was it the AwefulFawful Christmas?
...because that's how I found this too.
tell that to me, 7 years later, same exact thing
Thank god this is still up O.o
Haha yup! now i have them all xD (parts)
I must have watched this movie ten times this weeks. It can be somewhat cliché at points, but it's just soooo sweet!! Hits you right in the feels.
Right in that spot in your heart where you find gay interspecies relationships adorable.
Thank you, I couldn't believe it when StormyNightRedubTeam closed their account and the only english version was lost. I love this movie.
I feel like Mei's voice should be more of a young boy.. I dunno, would just add more cuteness
Highly agreed. I thought it was going to be a little boy's voice. Oh well
The Japanese actor fits it a little better.
Skwisgaar4256
But why? He has horns , he's not a "little" baby goat. I like that they made him older. The common "cute little animal thing lose their mother" is really not creative.
To be honest, it's hard to tell how old these two are.
They aren't kids, that's for sure, but Mei's treated like one, so it's kinda confusing.
Skwisgaar4256 Agree.
Me three minutes into the movie:
“Why must you hurt me in this way, movie?”
JEEEZZ PEOPLE WHY DO YOU HAVE TO MAKE THIS SO SAD YOU GUYS ARE SO LUCKY TO MAKE US CRY
I had no idea this was a fandub.. very impressive
OK 5:37 SCARED THE EVER LIVING *SHIT* OUT OF ME
I was actually worried when I saw that this movie and the account were gone D:
Thanks so much for putting this back up ^^
it's so cute how they don't even know each other at first ^ ^
2:18 The pack leader sounds like a cougar.
Imagine if after Bambi's Mom dies Bambi meets a human and they become friends.
Language barrier
Somebody has got to make a movie about a human and talking animal friendship I swear.
LOL! that barn conversation. omg i couldn't stop laughing! XD
2:18 Calm down, Giro!
i was about to cry when the mom died and now i'm scared for the baby goat as well. >w
Is it kinda crazy to think that I want Penguinz0 to react to the entirety of this film?
I made some AMV over 10 years ago and this is still my favorite "anime" if you an call it that. So many memories, so many times I've watched it back then. I akin it to minecraft cause I discovered it along the same timeframe. Love it all.

Poor Mei! Losing his mother.
subanimehd3 I LOVE YOU for uploading the english of this movie!!! I just hope that Tustin let's you keep it up but you are the BEST for having this
nostalgia critic:you know for kids
No matter how many times I watch this I can't get over how cute Mei's voice is
1:45 2:18 2:27 4:58
You know, I heard mixed things about this dub...and it's certainly a little odd how it came about. How can I GOAT tear off a wolfs ear?
well goats can have a firm grip I guess
mother instinct lol they do alot for their bebis
have you ever been BITTEN by a goat? they have strong jaws, and because of the flat teeth it feels like a vice grip
Mei sounds like if the word "Goat" was made into an accent and Gabu sounds like a pirate.
Jokes aside, this was one of the most genuine and adorable movies I've ever watched. I even cried a couple times in the third act.
One of the greatest sources to youtube poop.
i watched the whole series its the bomb
I like the cast and the art a friend's heart what matters
This was so awesome! The characters were cute, and the conversation was enjoyable! An instant favorite! :D
my god, I was actually giving up on anime, BUT THIS IS BEAUTIFUL!
if you want to know more beautiful anime, talk to me and i'll give you a looooooonng list of some.

I wanted to get audio track to combine my purchase copy but it says it doesn't exist
why does that wolf sound like the christopher sabat version of vegeta from dbz 0_0
I have a cd of this when i was a kid. I really loved the movie that i broke the play button a lot of times.
I've miss this so much
i really never like it when wolves are pretty much always monsters... The only movies and animations I have seen that make wolves Protagonists are Alpha and Omega, Off-White, Cow of The Wild and Eighty-Six. Wolves are not evil.... How would I know? I breed them... They're only evil if treated bad.
I love eighty six
I do too but it just irritates me how movie producers think wolves should be evil.
gta4fan556 At least they try to balance it out by having the goats get as low as the wolves do :)
true....
what about Sheep and Wolves?
so cute a goat and a wolf bffs😄
Great way to show kids the circle of life
Was that sarcastic?
The opening scene is so morbid jfc. You literally watch the wolves eat Mei's mother
Still love this film regardless
Also, how do you go from a horrific scene of animal nature to a silly scene of a goat running away from lighting?
Same way Bambi went from Bambi's mom dying straight to pretty birds singing about spring lol
If this film was ever released outside of Japan I would prefer it to have a PG-13 rating
The animation is BEAUTIFUL, the story is so precious, and I wish i knew what software was used.
I think the software might have been pencil (TBH I'm not sure).
Ah, a classical Greek relationship. This is the only non-mythology story I know with this trope in it.
+Aubren Lewis
I'm sorry, but would you mind explaining what you mean?
i have to say first scene brought back the bambi memories T~T and also cringed when the wolf and goat were talking but ya know i think the cringe isn't over just yet
yus! the Bambi style feels!
Rewatching because this is one of my favorite movies!
Enderyspace personally I like wolf children
Ah, I watched that the other day, and I like it too. ovo
^_~
Yay wolf children fans
Ya she is so cute I like her brother the most though so adorable
Don't say this is a kids movie or else the opening scene you just saw will make you feel like a liar.
Damn, shit hit the fan in the first two minutes!
Is it just me or does this remind me of hamtaro? XD
So cute wuv it
It also reminds me of Hamtaro XD
+SkyFox WantedTNTFox what's Hamtaro? I'll see if I can watch it
I can't be the only one searching this comment section for Jello, right?
It's been years and years since I saw this, and I still love it.
Might I be allowed to express my love for you for uploading this beautiful movie?
Doesn't wolves have night vision though?
This is so awesome... And a super great idea!
when i saw the cover i thought it was PG well i was wrong XD
Better then the CGI adaptation
i'm going to end up crying by the end of this movie, aren't i?
Most likely.
So, how'd it go? :-)
+IMMACYCLOPS I watched it a while ago but I don't think I cried the first time. Maybe after a second time, tears will be spoutin' from these water fountains we call eyes.
When they were talking about where they each lived all i could think was hiw havent you caught on yet xD like really
This really giving me PTSD
SHE bite the wolf ear
+Shem xo if you dont like it dont watch as simple as that :3
It is just like that. You talk to someone you don't know. And if you go to meet them, you find something vary surprising.
Pretty good movie it just got on my favorite movies list 😋
I like this cute series. It's sad, and coincidental, the goats mom killed the wolfs mom and vice versa.
Wow, I think this is amazing.
Why haven't I found it earlier?!
This movie is so cute x3
this is my favorite movie ❤
such an amazing job on dubbing!
This is one of my favorite animes this is my 50th time watching it
you should do complete subs. You know where it says things like *dramatic music plays*. It would be a nice thing to do for the hearing impaired.
i want a second movie :(
That is actually how I stumbled upon Arashi no Yoru Ni initially, searching for Chirrin no Suzu (Ringing Bell). They are quite different in some key ways though, the ending in particular and the overall tone of the film.
That goat just went ham on them wolfs.
Reminds me of the ringing bell of chirin
The voice of Gabu reminds me of an old Vegeta and Mei would then be Krillin. Now THATS an odd pair XD
