Thanks for including questions on behalf of families. Lots of wisdom from nomadic Matt. I would have loved to hear more on how he grew his online business, as that's what really is allowing him to live anywhere
"just because you were physically there, does not mean you have been there" so true, I have done the whirlwind tour... expensive and draining. After 130 countries, and 35 years, I agree with Matt. Slow it down. More relaxing, more rewarding... Way better value. My best advice is to travel light- carry on, 25L, 7kg. Go out and explore, take random local travel options, bus, boat, tram, train. It's not a contest, it's a learning life experience.
I live in California but I’m originally from the Philippines and this country is 2 hours flight from other countries like Korea, Japan, Thailand etc. one time I rented out a condo in Korea for a month. It’s cheaper than staying there for 2 weeks. I’ve always waited for the last minute airlines promo and sometimes it’s free but you just have to pay travel taxes. everyday I’m dreaming about going back to my home country and travel again.
I just started listening to this podcast... reading Barry's comment below... :) I agree :)... i'm like that, 1 carry-on, not even full, enough for the trip :) ... what's the rush? :) enjoy it... I'm planning to be back on the road- exploring, experiencing, and traveling, it's part of life :) ... this time- at a different stage in my life, I'm thinking to just get it started and I will figure out a way/format to make it work this time. nomad at heart :) lol :) cheers to ALL :)
One of the guys that inspired me to travel! Now at 195 countries! Thanks for the great interview!

Slow travel is my favourite way to travel, truly get to connect and live like a local

A bit of an odd question but it must be asked. What do you do with your cats when you go on longer trips like say a month?
House sitter - there are web sites for this that offer free house sitting.
