I notice your work is very illustrative in nature..almost reminds me of art work in some modern day Japanese manga or steampunk in nature. It’s very enjoyable to watch.

Thanks so much! Totally love your videos - my sketchbook is filled with reproductions of your artwork (just not as beautiful as yours) as I've sketched and painted along with you. You give me so much encouragement and wonderful ideas.
    Many thanks!

I really should not buy any more stuff, but I'm quite curious to try the dip pen. I love the way you showed us how to recover by taking the ink off with the brush. I feel like your intuition about shadows and light/dark is just so well developed and practiced you might underestimate how difficult it is for beginners. Something you cannot teach in a video I guess. Lovely vid.

Great post Martin, I'm definitely going to try that liquid charcoal. 😊 I've already got some dip pen nibs to try. 🎉

Really enjoyed this video. Appreciate hearing your instruction, not the music. Really useful tips like taking ink off the nib with a brush. I’ve noticed you use both waterproof + non waterproof inks. I would appreciate hearing your thought process about deciding which to use. I enjoy hearing how you think haha.

I am excited for the next one with the fountain pens! Also, may I suggest you try Lunar Black watercolor from Daniel Smith for some of your fills... it granulates beautifully and would fit really well with your style.

I have struggled with dealing with ink changes on my TWSBI 580AL fountain pen for a while. I want to draw in sepia, blue, grey, etc. TWSBI doesn’t make replacement cartridges for the pen so you have to empty it and wash isthmus out each time before changing ink color or type. I watched this video and purchased a Brause nib holder for $7 (US) and a 3 pack of No. 66 Brause nibs. A cheap fix. Thank you Martin for the recommendation

Thank you for your feedback! If you use different colours of ink, a dip pen is definitely a good choice! 👍

Thank You for this awesome video. :).
I'm using dirt cheap Jinhao 82 fountain pen with fude nib and black semi waterproof Koh-I-Noor document ink (also "cheap as barszcz" 😁). This ink is interesting - it gives beautiful blue/green trail under wet brush. Also it's mixing nice, but a little unpredictable way with watercolor... :)

I may have some dip nibs from my grandmother stashed somewhere in my art supplies. I guess using antique nibs is ok. I got India ink recently as a gift now I'm trying to figure out how to use it. So splatters are acceptable ? You can just leave them?

Bitte, wo kaufst du deine Sachen? Bei Gerstaecker kosten alleine die Federn 8,27 €. Bin offen für neue Bezugsquellen, die Sachen werden mir schön langsam zu teuer.
