- The totally retro looking Tamiya Fire Dragon finished. This RC has really grown on me. My intial thoughts I was not so keen, but this little ugly duckling has a place in my collection. Please share your thought and tell me what you think of the build. Thanks to all who tune in and subscribe.

Ohhh nice, had my eye on one for a while. What kind of condition is it? Have you kept the back mount, G4 I think stock. The plate the shock tower connects to?
@@FullOnRC everything is still there, just needs stripping down and a good clean as it was in the attic for years. She still runs fine 👍🏻

Nice build Paul! I just completed my build and doing some reading it seems the gearbox is a bit louder than it should be. Best I can find is it is due to some flashing on the large bevel gears (part BA19). Before installing mine I used my scalpel to clean them up and it seems to have worked as it runs a bit quieter than your build here (from what I can tell over the internet!). A number of other builders suggested that over time the gears will wear down and become smoother anyway so don't worry. No discernable impact on performance and once the cars 2 metres from you it won't be audible anyway as it's bashing about the park. In other words leave it unless you're a mega mega perfectionist!

put a bit of red paint on the screw for the drivers head and it will blend into the body a bit better
Good idea. But you mean yellow. The screw goes through the yellow body decal.

Nice work Paul. Really enjoying the content on your channel. I have been tempted with that motor and ESC combo but only use NIMH. Any idea on how it would perform compared to running on 2s?

LOL I know, but once its running it looks slightly better. I did consider a Saint Dragon the other day, which do you think is more ugly, this, or that?

I’m a bit contrary so, I bought a Fire Dragon BECAUSE it is so ugly. I couldn’t help myself.
It's a very unique looking rc imo and not all bad really.
