A little advice for mouse care, from someone who's owned 5+ mice.
Look into a bigger cage. Make sure they have enough space. They can start to feel too crowded and start fighting, which isn't fun. Also, a separate bowl for water, and a separate bowl for food.
Look into buying a wheel for the mice babies!! Mice love exercise, and love to run. My mice used to squeak to me if I took their wheel out of their cage.
Give them a bath once every two weeks, with just plain water. If you notice their feet getting crusty with poo or other things, wash them lightly with Oder free soap, and make sure to wash thoroughly! It could hurt them if they digest it, so make sure they take a nice long bath after, and are squeaky clean. (BEFORE YALL GO SHOVING YOUR CHILDREN INTO BOWLS OF WATER, SCROLL DOWN AND READ MY COMMENTS ON BATHS, PLEASE. DON'T DROWN YOUR MICE)
Lastly, keep an eye on them. Some mice like to play fight, but dont know limitations. They might accidentally hurt themselves. If you notice them 'play-fighting' keep an eye on them, as it might turn violent very quickly. Trust me, one of my mice ripped off the tip of another's tail during 'play-fight', so be careful. And never pick them up by the tail. I've noticed a lot of store-employee's do that, but its actually very bad for them, as it can damage their tail.

It's actually very painful and stressful to carry mice and rats by their tails. Sadly, big companies like PetCo and PetSmart always mistreat their animals. Every dollar they make they care less and less for the animals. The only thing we could do about it is never buy an animal from there.
I know they're mice but when I bought a Guinea pig from them , the worker held it in a way where it's back shouldn't be bending.. the lack of training everywhere for pet stores like that is genuinely depressing.
@@Swaggdub actually pet shops don't usaully sell feeder mice and they make u sign a paper that u promise not to feed it to any other creature I think they grab it like that because most mice bit so to avoid that they grab them by thw tail
Hello Garret. I’m the owner of two perfectly healthy mice myself. I recommend that you buy them a wheel and perhaps get them a water bottle. You can apply the water bottle buy using industrial Velcro, and NEVER pick them up by the tail, it’s much better to scoop them with cupped hands. This is just a few recommendations, now some health advice.
Do NOT EVER get them a pool, or bathe them, mice self groom and keep themselves clean, in fact, though mice are great swimmers, water stresses them quite a bit. Also I’d recommend getting them a plastic wheel. Oh a few more things DO NOT feed them dairy or cheese, it contains a ingredient that they cannot digest properly and it will probably kill them. I truly hope you enjoy your mice! They are gentle and amazing animals that really bring happiness to most people who own them.
Sydnee Vernach also diet! They need a varied diet of fruits and veggies, with a seed mix and lab blocks for added nutrition.

Sydnee Vernach wonderful! Personally, I make my own mouse mix excluding the lab blocks. The diy mix took so much time and research. I really hope he gave his mouse a better home, or else it may be dead right now 😭

Yeah mice require at least a 10 gallon tank, I think it should be bigger if you have more than one though but at least a 10 gallon for mice.

I come back to this video all the time, and I love it so much. But also, mice absolutely do need at least one friend to live a full and happy life, so Garrett did a very responsible thing getting two instead of one.
For female mice that is in fact the case. Male mice should be housed alone.
That bin he had them in while he was setting up the tank is more suitable then the tank he bought!😂 Mice need at least a 20 gallon long tank with an 8 inch wheel, a bunch of chew toys, and 3 inches of bedding. The best food you can feed a mouse is oxbow mouse and young rat food! Please do your research before getting ANY pet! I know this video is old but, I only saw one comment that said their tank is unsuitable. DO YOUR RESEARCH!!
I never had any caged pets, but even I know this 😬 It surprised me not more people are commenting about it
Nope If the mice were uncomfortable in that cage they would be biting him when he was holding them, theyd also be doing wail eye which we don’t see here. The fact they ate and slept together is also a good sign, if they were stressed or uncomfortable they’d not eat/drink

you realize that even if it’s a small pet it still needs room to do daily activities like run in a wheel, and burrow. first, the cage size he go was WAY TO SMALL. mice can travel up to 3 miles in the wild per night and without a wheel they aren’t able to do that. second, in the wild, mice burrow for protection. without the right amount of beefing needed they are not able to do that. i personally use 6 inches for my two female mice. and finally, mice get bored very fast, so they need a lot of stuff to do in the cage. not just a hide house and some food.

Caroline I don’t know why you’re comparing mice to hamsters when they are very different, as we’ve seen in his other videos the mice don’t spend the entire time in the cage he lets them outside to explore and he handles them a lot. The mice show no sign of stress and even were ok with being held which isn’t a normal thing ( this means that they are very content ) they were eating food while knowing they were being watched ( this means that they don’t think of Garrett and Caleb as dangers which is again good ) honestly instead of nitpicking every little thing how about you go back and join your peta society

You just need water and maybe a wheel. Also I would suggest food that has peanuts in it and dried fruit and I don't suggest food with little pellets because my mouse hates those but maybe yours with like them. Also my mouse really like rice rolls they sell them at petco and it's good for their teeth. You should put some paper towel or toilet paper in there so the can make a nice nest and you can put toilet paper rolls in there so they can have some fun. But the cage looks great and they are so cute!

Evog my mice are fed Oxbow pellets and a seed mix for variety they eat both just fine.

Evog they are the big pellets they feed in pet stores and laboratories. It gives them the exact amount of nutrients I just put seeds and stuff so they dont have to eat the same thing everyday.

Yes! They need a solid, not mesh, wheel too and I always recommend deeper bedding!!

No mice have bad respiratory problems and a tank is actually the worse thing they could be in, I kept my first one in a 120 gallon tank
Tanks are only an issue with respiratory problems if the room itself is poorly ventilated, otherwise they're fine. You just need to provide other things for them to do lots on climbing on but ventilation isn't an issue most of the time

That bin you had them in is actually a better size than the tank. Three mice do better than two, and you need at least a 20 gallon for 2-3 mice. Or you could get a cage top for your tank. They need plenty of hides and climbing stuff. They get bored pretty easily. An 8-10 inch wheel is also needed. Mice love wheels. You don't have to even spend all that much on them. They love boxes and egg cartons. They need plenty of room to burrow, so 2-3 inches of bedding is good. Mice are such wonderful and fun pets. I hope you and your girls have a good time together!

OMG they are so freaking ADORABLE!!! I have a rat, they make such fun pets. We had 2, but our other one passed away last week. She was almost 3 years old, it's the only bad thing about having pets. It's so heartbreaking when they die
