Initially, I saw it is a 3 years old video, thought it might not be relevant, but it is not only relevant to current version of affinity app. Even it's among one of the best tutorials out there on UA-cam. Thank you Jesse
Nicely done! I rarely "like" and comment a tutorial video, but this one is on point for the basics! I'm a lightroom user for awhile. I've been introduced to Affinity and since then I've been searching for a tutorial and trying to decide if it's worth it to switch software. This video made it simple and doable! Thank you!

THANKS Jesse. I am an amateur/pleasure only photographer and have been using Adobe's Photoshop to edit photos. However, as my PS CS5 was a free copy it no longer works and, as an amateur who only edits for my pleasure, I was NOT prepared to pay/rent/subscribe further to Adobe as the costs far outweigh my usage of their software. Now, having bought Affinity One as being the nearest to my limited workings with Adobe PS and the most suited to my needs. I have only now started watching your tutorials which I found concise, clear and well presented and will get me back to editng with fun again. THANK YOU mate! Alex. Keep producing
What mac app would you suggest for mass photo editing, similar to what lightroom can do? I'm trying to get away from the monthly cost of creative cloud. Thanks
I just got Affinity yesterday. This is the first video I found & I love it! I didn't know much about PS. The tutorials always treated you like you should know this basic stuff because PS has been around for years. Because of you, I understand the concepts WAY better & I can't wait to jump into Affinity and get started! Thanks for being clear & basic without being condescending.
I Watched this for one minute and I'm going to buy it right Now I've been waiting for software like this for years!!!!!!!!! I can afford to design again!!!!! Best Day EVER!!!!!!!!!Thanks Jesse!!
Very nicely done, Jesse. I've watched several Affinity Photos videos after deciding to abandon PS Elements for AP. This video of yours is head and shoulders above the rest- you speak clearly and enthusiastically, and the instructions are easy to follow. Great job!
Thanks. Much better than other basic tutorials that I've seen. Right to the point. No silly jokes around. Concise and fast. I'm subscribing. I've got Affinity yesterday.
Jesse what a great introduction to Affinity! It would be helpful to "newbies" though if you could zoom into the icon for the tools that you choose so we know clearly what they look like and what they do. Your movements between them are just a little fast! But your presentation has convinced me to give the software a go. Thank you.
This was great! Thanks for these key basics...I used to be proficient in Photoshop but stopped using it for awhile. Then I got a copy of Affinity Photo and wanted to learn how to navigate and do simple tasks. This video was really helpful!
Thank you so so much for this video! My dad is a graphic designer and photographer and ended up putting affinity on my computer and I had barely any idea on how to use it (except levels, because I used to play around on photoshop when I was growing up and affinity is very similar). This video will help me edit photos for decals for my ceramics piece! ☺️
Just bought the Photo program. Affinity has it on sale for $24.99. I have used Corel PhotoOaibt for over 10 years. What I have noticed so far that many tasks I do are easier in their Program. I won't uninstall PhotoPaint yet. Thanks for this video.
I had Photoshop several years ago that my son installed on a computer I was using at the time. The computer crapped out and I lost PS. I've been using various online photo editing software to sharpen, crop and straighten photos of my paintings but yesterday I decided to purchase Affinity. I'm seeing that it's very much like PS and that's great. I downloaded it for half the price and that's so much less than PS. For my use which isn't much, Affinity will be fine. Thank you for making the tutorials!
New to Affinity and I coming over from PhotoShop user of almost 20 years. You are greatly helping in the Affinity learning curve ...keep up the great EASY to understand in your tutorials!
Great tips. I'll add one. I ALWAYS save my files at around 90-95%. Watch the % and you will notice that you still get near perfect quality, but your file size, for some reason drops dramatically. It is the recommended way to save by many pro's. Also, when saving your work, it can be good to also save the changes/history- there is a simple way to do that.
Also to back up Jesse's tip about adjustment layers, those of you that are saying for Jesse's 5th tip 'hey Jesse I can do the same thing in the main menu toolbar without using an adjustment layer', yes that's true but you DO NOT want to do that. Why? Because if you use adjustment layers, they are non-destructive and you can easily tweak the photos to your liking. When you use the same adjustments in the main menu toolbar, those are TOTALLY destructive. Excellent tutorial Jesse for beginners. Make it seem less intimidating for people who aren't used to or have never used Photoshop before
Bro! I've had this software for about 2 years now and I've refused to stop using my 2007 era Microsoft Digital Imaging Suite software🤫 because I couldn't do basic tasks with ease. You have helped me cross over the line. I may never go back! Thanks for a great tutorial that is easy to understand.
Great video thank you! My extremely old version of Photoshop has decided to constantly crash, so I purchased Affinity Photo a few days ago. So glad I did as it is an awesome piece of software! 📸👌

great video for our best start with affinity, thanks a lot Jesse
FWIW, when you were demonstrating the Inpainting Tool at 4:57 your flow was only at 25%. That's probably why it left remnants of his jacket. I imagine at 100% it would have worked as intended. Great video!
I really like you presentation. I have had affinity for about a year but seldom used it. You have given me a new appreciation for it and I will dig into it more. I am finding I do most of by photo clean up in the Mac PHOTOS edit. But many times want more.
Great video!! Taught me many things on how to use the application. I had to be my girlfriends photographer for her graduation pictures bc of the covid 19 and this is really going to help me out! Thanks!!
I'm looking for a app to make labels for bottle, tincture labels for a bottle and other labels for honey jars and so on and I'm debating whether to buy affinity photo or affinity design and not sure what to pick or if I should get a different app all together for my Mac.
