i have a few hours on gordies new air filter, bark box and suspension kit. really opens up the saw, hole different animal now. highly recomend. iv been running the hexa over here in aus hardwood and really like it. i use the Westcoast saw file gauge set on .040 and its hungry, grate for limbing and bucking but id rather .035 for felling for the smoother cut. keep the updates coming. ps, smear abit of grease around rubber on the bottom of the standard filter befor putting it on and will catch the small fines
Love it - the details fascinate me , small things can make such a difference . I do think that chain could be better though . Awesome base for a saw though , power to weight impressive
Thanks for the update everyone loves a 500i. Like I said yesterday I will go back to RS chain when my Hexa is used up. I don't think it has been a great hit for Stihl. I put a Bark Box on mine the filtration on 462 seems good. I bought a WCS filter for it but never put it on.
@walkerscountrylife I tried it out and wasn't that impressed. I did a load of milling with it too unintentionally. It does the job but can't really see the benefits Vs round filing
@@bornforfreetaxtothedeath..7542 thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it! Yeah that filter is high on the list, I find fines that have got past the standard filter every time I clean it.
Pure music James! What a machine! Love it! Stay safe Mate 👍👍

Hey thanks for the detailed comment. Some useful tips there 👍 yeah I think it needs more off the rakers.. the teeth look like a factory chain.
@walkerscountrylife get yourself a westcoast depth gauge you won't be disappointed. Has 4 settings, Start low and work up to find what works for you.

Hey Patrick! You should get that filter on the 462!
The 461 was the goat! Stihl unfortunately has changed
461 video coming soon!!
chain doesn't seem to be cutting great in this.
@@elemental4rce I don't think it does either mate. Not loving Hexa.

Nice
Stick a full chisel chain on the 500i and report back. I have yet to hear anyone say anything positive on hexa chain.
Yeah I got it with an RS on.. the Hexa is ok when new, but there's definitely a knack to sharpening it that I haven't got!
Great video 👍
I would upgrade air filter from Gordy's, had some great reviews, its not that expensive i think...
