Thank you so much for this video didn’t have the equipment you did but I took a chance removed eeprom from old board and replaced it on a recondition computer I bought on eBay swapped them out. Heat did not affect the eeprom. Did exactly what you did on your video got it in the car turned the key car runs better than ever. Thank you so much great video.😮 car is a 2006 Tribeca. Not afraid of touching circuit boards anymore!!!!

it only works if ur cloning same model number ecu now u can program the jdm ecu for the ej20x to work on ur car but u need to get the security id number and reprogram the immobilizer iv done it with a tatrix cable and a vxdiag tool the vin info needs to be edited threw the eeprom ic once key is programmed

This is a great video, thanks a lot. Light at the end of my tunnel. I have the situation the other way round. I have problems with a 2018 Forester. The engine was replaced, and whatever we do the tuning parameters cannot be deleted. Whatever the garage does, the ECU seems to use the tuning of the old engine. I was told by some Subaru wizards, that these params are stored in the microcontroller, and 2018 Foresters had a bug, that prevents clearing these. Do you think Carprog has the adaptor and the comms protocol to do this clearing in the microcontroller?
I have a 09 XT to replace ECU, will need help with it, can I get service from you? If I get the eprom chip swap out between the old and new, does writing or changes needed to done?

I like your video and appreciate you sharing your knowledge. I have a question about this process. If you have to remove the eprom to flash it, why not just swap the old eprom on to the new ecu? Same result, less steps, no?
Yes and no if you don’t read the file and hear it up to remove you can loose the key information that’s why you always read it on board and then remove it
@@vehix411 got it makes sense. Fyi, theres a guy on some forum, 20x swapped his leggy, flashed jdm ecu with usdm 257 eprom and didnt desolder anything. Snowboarding right now, otherwise would share the link
