Such a good intro. The deer reflection reveal, the disorientation playing as a random naked guy, that indulgent title drop, later finding out the dude was Nightingale. Just brilliant, total Remedy.
Plus it drops a bunch of intentionally misleading information very well. Even that first shot is essentially massive spoilers, but it does it in a way that disguises itself extremely well.
@@1224taylorIt's too late to hear the words. The man. Naked. Crawls to the shore. Like a birth? To say that would be a lie. Nothing like a birth. The opposite. He staggers to his feet.
@@LittleAngryCarrots It's not shown clearly, but implied he was fully Taken by the time we were playing him. What we see is the Taken's point of view where they think they're normal and okay, but don't actually see what they're really doing. When Ed and Tammy see Nightingale, they comment about how the guy was talking crazy and how they should leave, which doesn't line up with Nightingale's POV since he was just asking for help. When the Cult of the Tree spots him, the cultist goes "Oh shit. It's one of them" showing that they IMMEDIATELY identified Nightingale as a Taken the moment they spot him. The only way they could have done that is if he's (a) covered in dark shadow and (b) babbling nonsense. The Cult then blasts you with light before attacking you with weapons and restraining you, which is the standard procedure for leaving a Taken vulnerable. They wouldn't have done all of that if it wasn't completely obvious to them that you were Taken.
He even starts in the middle of the ending monologue, the latter half of which you see here, in the intro, and the first half you see during the ending.
The fact that The Cult of The Tree was mentioned as far back as **CONTROL** tells me Remedy has a good idea on where how much they plan their games out
@@kaymay2814 It’s an Easter Egg you have to find outside the game itself by reversing a song that was made by Old Gods of Asgard, similar thing happened in the first Alan Wake
@@Kaunteit’s not strictly necessary, but I can think of a few story reasons to play it. It introduces Scratch. It shows the whole Night Springs Concept that keeps happening to Alan that continues into Alan Wake 2. It shows a fakeout “happy” ending that’s pretty cool and cheesy and may have existed in the head of a version of Alan that went insane from the dark place and was just coping. And of course it shows lots of Barry Wheeler managing The Old Gods of Asgard. Not absolutely necessary, but it does add to the story. Plus the manuscripts from it show up in the Subway Walls of Alan Wake 2 which is a fun little easter egg. All of that said, it’s hard to play without Xbox, and a bit repetitive, so you can always watch a story playthrough on UA-cam.

i’m glad i’m not the only one
ALAN WAKE II
Same here lololol
ALAN
WAKE
II
Played this on an 80+ inch TV and that title card hit like a motherfucking train
closest thing it reminds me of is the title card for JOKER, how it bleeds off the edges of the screen with the film blur effect, so punchy and cool
Haven't seen a title card this sick since Evil Dead Rise.
one of my favourite title cards to a game ever got me sooo hyped
@@WizdaVisionIn all fairness that wasn’t long ago
check out evil dead rise - there is also something similar impressive in the beginning@@Inressa

So was nightingale a taken in the beginning or only after his death? Confused after knowing the cults motives actually are

"Ughh, Alan. I'm trying to sneak around, but I'm dummy thicc and the clap of my ass cheeks keeps alerting the Cult of the Tree"
Solid Nightingale
What a horrible day to be literate
You mean Hemingway
This entire sequence gives off major vibes of a revival of a cancelled TV show
the first two minutes of introduction, I had chills….
Spoilers below:
I love the fact that this game starts with the ending scene with the bullet of light being in Alans head. Great detail.
He even starts in the middle of the ending monologue, the latter half of which you see here, in the intro, and the first half you see during the ending.
Anyone else came bavk to this after the ending? 😅
Yep! The intro makes way more sense now. x)
"Forgive me sir, it was an honor....."
In a master at this game I solved every rhyme and stash
A lot of people won’t agree but this is easily game of the year for me. I know it won’t win but it was incredible in every facet
Narrative and Direction are close enough. At least Sam Lake now has two awards.
The fact that The Cult of The Tree was mentioned as far back as **CONTROL** tells me Remedy has a good idea on where how much they plan their games out
WHAT?!

The music! Dark feels! Amazing!!
A small detail at 4:23 that foreshadows the Cult of the Tree plot twist. A cultist says:
“That's the one. The monster.”
This whole opening scene kinda spoils the whole story. But in a way that you don't realize that before playing the whole game.
As an alcoholic i got scared when playing the intro with those flashes of shit coming up, stuff you see in your hangover sleep

E-B-C with lots of brass!
Did not think I was gonna get rocked in the light like that.
1:11 After what happened in the Lake House this phase fits perfectly on it.
I want 2 start this so bad but never fully finished 1. I know I need too but gosh this looks awesome
it's fucking awesome!
Highly recommend playing the first. American Nightmare and Control if you have time, before playing this one, you’ll appreciate it more.
And Quantum Break
@@dylanburch9264there's really no reason to play American Nightmare story wise

Does anybody know the name of the song at about 1:00? Is it original OST yet to be released?
OST releases May 14th on the 14 year anniversary of the first game! :D
Had to come and watch here because the sound stops working in Series X. Thanks 👍

This is “vertical reflections” from the newly released soundtrack

That's cool and all but this isn't an Alan Wake Game. Thankfully, it bombed
