This was and is always such a great version of this song by Linda Ronstadt.
whether you are going to sleep like me... or waking. Listen. Linda sings this like noone else.... play it for your children.... god bless Linday...
The first time I heard this version was on NPR.
I was blown away by the powerful, soulful delivery.
I called NPR for hours trying thru to the DJ, he told me Ronstadt actually has an album full of these type of Sinatra-era songs.
I knew Linda conquered so many fields in music, but never looked into her accomplishments till I came across this song.
Now after purchasing several of her pre-rock albums it's aghastly shocking no one talks about this woman's achievements in music.
She nailed it!
Did you like her rendition? Yes or no?
I love her rendition of this song the woman is a vocal genius she can sing anything if she sang mary had a little lamb that would also be amazing a lot of people might disagree with me but I put her above Streisand and don't get me wrong I love Barbra but I think Linda is the better singer Barbra is wonderful but predictable
Yes 😊
He'll yes!
I drove my limo to the 70s.
I picked up Barbra, Karen, Ann Wilson, Aretha, and Linda. We left and drove past the 80s. Didn't need to stop. We're gonna go by Glady's house and pick her up, too. No room for Whitney and Mariah, as we pass the 90s. They asked if I would stop by Celine's.
I guess we can make room, maybe next time. [The Chauffeur.]
This is the most beautiful performance of "When You Wish Upon A Star" that I have ever seen or heard.
Yes ❤💕❤
I agree
Linda Ronstadt's version of this song helped me make a lifetime dream come true.
Fate steps in and pulls you through.
I agree
I agree.
Who else but Linda could take a song sung by a cartoon cricket and sing it so tenderly that you forget all that, and see it as a masterpiece.
you’re shallow as fuck if you don’t think cliff edwards had already made it a masterpiece.
@@seanp3302 I think they’re both magical, in my opinion.
Amazing..she did country...Spanish...Gershwin..etc..lovely version..I had the worst crush on her when I was like 16..thks for posting..
Wonderfully done,,so sweet and sincere. Linda, sing moreplease
Nelson Riddle said Linda had a decent set pipes. Full praise from a man who recorded some of the greatest singers of the twentieth century.
God I love Linda. This & Faithless Love. I've just listened to 1/2 dozen others sing 'WYWUAS" & NOT one even dared to try & sing those last 3 notes right. But Linda did because she can! Love you Linda 🥰💞
This is great--no one in the world sings like Linda--but one thing: I would not have faded on the horns final arrangement. It's beautiful.
Thanks, Linda💕🌠... For all of it...I just SO loved your voice and spent so many hours with it (singer)... Hope you read this so you know... How important it was to me...😊🤗
We love this song....❤
The angels loaned that voice to Linda, it seems to go well with that face
God I love her.
It's so beautiful it almost makes you want to cry!
Excellent
Beautiful, gut-wrenching joy.
Two greatest female singers in my lifetime are Karren Carpenter, whose incredible vevelty voice never waivered or crackled--like the finest silky smoothe Burgundy wine. Nobody enunciated or phrased like Karen. But Linda is such a close second and her vocal range with all types of music--rock, country, American Standards and pop songs--is nothing short of amazing. All female vocalists take a back seat to those two--in my lifetime. These are voices that are of the angels and heaven sent for all of us to enjoy and savor for all time. RIP Karen. Hope you are in as good a health as possible and are happy Linda, wherever you are!
froggieguy I agree with you and have compared the two many times (Linda takes the lead in my story though) 🙂
froggieguy is
They're called mezzos...Ella had a timbre that was similar as well, I think
Barbra, Karen, Aretha, Ann Wilson, and this treasure, Miss Ronstadt. Love her!
Before you die you should listen to a new young girl Angelina Jordan .. try anything from her ... She's only 14 years old and from Norway .. try when you wish upon a star rehearsal
Absolutely lovely. And absolutely elegant. I know I said it before - but it warrants being said again that such a simple song can be made so extraordinarily beautiful and elegant.
When women could really sing, didn't need mixing machines to make them sound better like the talentless ones today. Real, natural talent ones today cannot hold a candle to that lip synch their way through their synthesized performances. Perfect voice she has, one of the greats.
Sharon Somers theres many singers these days that can hold a note look at lady gaga christina agulara beyonce when she sings ella fitzgerald
But none of todays singers will ever compare to singers back in the 50's 60's especially the women
Back then they had such angelic voices and a true heart for music and not just money
Yes, what you said, Sharon: Barbra, Aretha, Ann Wilson, Karen, and Miss Ronstadt. Royalty vocalists.
Oh how I yearn for these voices and old songs to be back all on Johnny Carsons show I hope I see them all again when I'm off to my next journey.. I hope Ms linda Ronstadt is feeling ok loneliness although I am a fan of being alone its nice to speak once in awhile to a friend ...Blessings to all 🙏🏻🖤🙏🏻
That smile at 3:18-3:20......! Gets me every time
Masterpiece. Stunning high note finale.
Great arrangement of this tune with an expert singer.
Gosh you can HEAR that beautifull smile of hers while she sings. The last Minute or so just gives me shivers. What a beauty!
ds song makes me cry everytime i heatd ds sogng thmkz for uploadingo
Simply sublime. The combination of an exquisite voice and beautiful persona coupled with the fabulous arrangement that compliments but doesn't overwhelm her voice and you have music that rises to a spiritual plain. Put it simply, my parents raised me on big bands and big band singers--and the great American songbook. But--nobody inerprets the song book like Linda. And no modern singer comes even close (Michael B--you're a good but distant second). If my parents were alive they would say this--we love Sinatra, we love Ella et al--but--Miss Linda Ronstadt is the greatest interpreter of the American songbook ever, backed by Nelson Riddle exquisite arrangments. I have heard nothing better in my lifetime. Period. end of Discussion. God bless, you, Linda, for sharing your talents with us.
I agree 100%
Perfect voice. Perfect face. Perfect person. How can you improve on perfection. Love you, Linda. ♥♥♥
What you said⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
HOW did I not know this existed? Oh, that last note gave me chills!

her beautiful voice gives me goosebumps I'm in shock
I am in love with this woman
Ah, Linda you are my favorite Latina singer of all time!
I still have a crush on Linda. She's still a cutie after all these years. Age and weight doesn't necessarily change that. Sure she was hot in her younger years, but we all get older. Linda is a sweet, wonderful person, and even though SHE says she no longer has the voice to do it, I'm sure she could still sing with the best of them.
It gave me chills, 83
Beautiful song sung by my favorite singer!
Timeless!
Love the stage and her swinging on the moon. Fun to watch.

ps - great tune!
I've always loved Linda's voice. I why she stopped singing? Missed her.
Linda came down with a debilitating case of Parkinson's(?) disease - I believe it was. It has robbed her of her pitch perfect voice. It breaks my heart- yet she seems to be dealing with it so well. Love to Linda
Wow, she belts without effort... gorgeous :)
Lindo! Lindo! Dá um nó na garganta!!
@Lindawatcher My God, lindawatcher, I wish I had said what you said first but it's really good it was said. Thank You and thank god for Linda.

Hello Patricio Castro, my maiden name is Jacqueline Castro. I was born a long time ago in Egypt. Now I live in France.
Fancy reading my name in a comment, here there aren't so many Castros around.
Indeed.
@Lindawatcher You are wicked!! You just made me laugh so hard! :)
oops meant linda,,,, and being backed by the Nelson Riddle Orchestra doesn't hurt... god I love this song.
Linda also sang in a Disney produced Cd Cinderella A Dream Is A wish Your heart Makes. Does anyone have an mp3 of it? I lost that Cd!
From Pinocchio 1940
I guess you're saying that if she were to sit on that moon now, we would have no more moon.
Gorgeous. My only criticism is that she changed the lyrics. The original was "Fate steps in and sees you through" I think that is better.
I fell in love with you long before.
Nice performance, but you can't see stars behind a crescent moon!
Jeff Rey It gravitational distortion.. The moon plus Linda's star power is pulling the light from fainter stars inward making it appear that the star are visable where they shouldn't be.
A very beautiful song by one of the greatest female vocalists of the 20th century. However, the arrangement is ghastly, but that’s just my opinion. Cheers!
went to see my two oldest grandsons tonight i snuggled with angelo but carl the third was sick and i said carlitto mom mom will be back tommorrow to rock you my son eddie is moving in with his brother carl jr his fav sister in law and his oldests newphews

Same she won't be singing again since she developed Parkinson's Disease.
Sigh. What women won't do for Disney.
