Thanks for demonstrating the sound of the GUITAR and not a distortion pedal or extreme high gain amp channel. You made it sound a great natural Strat tone - well done.
Thanks glad it was helpful
Best comment on a guitar review ever. Thoroughly agree
I am so impressed of the sound of it, unbelievable..... thanks for the review..... great job
Just watched with my "better half" - like the "Slurp" reference at the beginning LOL !!!! ...... Really enjoyed it as always...... M&MX / Mark T X
I start every single day with my 34oz (1 liter) travel mug of coffee! Can't live without it!
Impressive! I wanted a strat for a while so I'll get one of these kits for shure.
sounds really good for a cheap kit gtr!
Love your roof!
ONE OF YOUR BEST SOLOS AT AROUND THE 9 MIN MARK
I built a Harley Benton jaguar shape guitar and it sounds as good as anything I own
Sounds OK so far...
This is a really useful video and that is an amazing demonstration at the end! Is there a particular reason you dont just screw the trem claw screws in all the way to start with but keep tuning and adjusting? Is that to do with making the trem float?
yes, depending on the size of strings you are using, the strength and number of springs, and the depth that the claw screws are inserted, will affect the balance of the bridge to make it float perpendicular to the body. You want it perpendicular so that when you bend the trem the bridge will raise the strings keeping them from buzzing too much as the strings loosen and drop in pitch..for a bend upwards, the strings will get stiffer and not vibrate in such a wide pattern.
They really should come up with a true hard tail strat style guitar, meaning no vibrato aka tremolo system. It would save a beginner from a lot of troubles.
Yes good idea
It wouldn't be hard to just block the tremelo on them, like any other strat. That would keep it in tune.
i can go on a rant here, but I will try to spare someone who posted a comment 5 months ago from my crazy rants but, Harley Benton does have Hard tail S type guitars.

Fender also has some S type guitars with hard tails as well, most company's that produce S type guitars make one with a hard tail. I do agree they would be likely the best bridge for beginners. Just for tuning sakes, they can be made pretty cheaply so its right up the ally of the budget of a beginner. Of course it is also usually right up the ally of the kind of budget I would have as well lol.
Hi! Great video! do you think that putting on a prewired Fender pickguard will be compatible o this? I want to give it a customization regarding its looks and sounds, but I'm not sure of what pieces will be compatible! do you think harley benton parts for st type will be good? :)
that string alignment is shifted neck no matter what you do to bridge. That pocket need attention or just loosen and thump neck straight
Ill have a good look when I rebuild it. Thanks for the tip :)
@@BrentHutchinson the bridge can be a bit off and intonation or saddle slide corrects but string alignment is the neck not straight...rock on!!!
Will need MORE than that, will need some shimming no doubt as well!
you are absolutely correct :)
The neck should have been centralized first before the screws were tightend maybe this is why the srting alignment is out ,,,,,,just a thought
Many thanks for filming and sharing M8ty. .... Is this the guitar that you have put a blow torch finish on ???? M&MX / Mark T X
It is mate you will see that in the next video
it seems that the screw holes for the trem were drilled in the wrong position..drill them out to 8mm, put in some plugs, align, and using the bridge taped to the right position on the body, drill new pilot holes using the holes in the bridge as a guide. First use a wood drill bit that just barely fits into the holes to get a center mark, then drill holes that are the width of the screw less the threads (meaning just the shaft), then drill out a little bit at the top of the hole so that the cylindrical part of the screws (between the threads and the head) will fit snug. If this is unclear i can make a short video showing that process. It is important to be able to drill the holes perpendicular. To do this use a block with a very flat bottom, drill guide holes which are the size of the bit that you are drilling into the body with, then place the bit into the guide hole, put the tip of the bit into the mark for the screw holes, make sure that the block is flush or flat on the body of the guitar, and drill a perpendicular hole to the depth needed..
Thanks for that Matey :)
is it possible to make this strat but change bridge pickup to humbucker?
Unfortunately, it hasn't got the route for it
May have missed something, but, what are you supposed to do with that headstock ?.
It's a blank you can cut your own design. I show this in the next video coming soon.
great sound! What is the rig set up?
Playing through an old pod into my daw
At 0:39 the way you say slurp sounds very Stephen Merchantey
8:42 - That sound you're playing is so familiar! Tab? Is it 'The Tuner'? I could be mistaken.
No Im just noodling :)
Oh I know, I was just being a loony! ;-)
Brent - I noticed that you did not screw the spring claw plate all the way to the body. Any reason for that? I downloaded HBs instruction manual and it didn’t indicate to do anything other than fully screw it in. PS I’m rather new at all this!
Hi yea the more you screw it in the harder it is the use the trem. As I still want to use it I only screwed it in enough to being the trem back to the body. Hope this helps.
Brent Hutchinson makes sense. I noticed that the Glarry Strat I got had the screws about 1/4-1/2” out. Maybe achieve the result by taking off a spring? An screw not screwed in all the way screws with my brain! 😂
Brent Hutchinson nice work with the torch. I saw someone else use that technique for a burst. Didn’t realize it sealed the wood. Cool.
@@mhester99 Its just a case of adjusting it till you like the feel really.. Its all a personal thing :)
Brent Hutchinson looking forward to having fun learning guitar tech on the Glarry which i got after viewing your review and others Got mine for $52 delivered on eBay!. Had trouble getting it to tune initially, so I Decided to dig into it. One of the spring claw screws was crooked so I replaced both pushed a few toothpicks down the hole where the crooked screw was. Oiled the dry fret board. Going to put in a bone or tusq nut and roller string trees and go from there. Perfect outlet for my desire to tinker!
What song were you playing at around 11 minutes?
My own
@@BrentHutchinson it was absolutely fantastic.
How thick is the body?? Cool vid
Dont have the guitar any more but if I remember correctly it is very much like a squire body.
Man some people just love hating on Harley Benton. I love the guys, they are for the players not the primadonna's. Mostly the people that get mad are the ones who over paid for a name like Fender, Gibson, PRS...It's just salt really.
I dont hate them at all quite the opposite
@@BrentHutchinson oh I was referring to some comments not you buddy.
@@diegofiorillo6412 sorry buddy.. :)
Thomann treated me like crap. So I stopped buying their stuff. Their gutairs are 50/50 some arrive good and some arrive in pieces. Mine arrived in pieces and they wanted me to pay to return them lol.
Would be a shame if you had to return the whole kit and got one back with a crappy neck.
good news is they are sending a new kit...and I keep this one. :)
So are you going to experiment with this one? Some gold foil pups maybe? I've always wanted to try those in a strat.
@@jeffreyeagen4896 I've done something...next video will reveal all
...OK, so it's a crap guitar kit, regardless of price.
Seems exactly the opposite. Did you even watch the video?
