Watched this to help with SF6 since I'm new and still learning and I actually noticed an improvement in my gameplay already. Even though it's about SF4 a lot of it can carry over into 6

I'm in the same situation of picking up sf 6 and wanting to learn whiff punishment. I'm confused on how to get to that offline Cammy level where I can predict and look for certain whiffs from my opponents. Is that gap only bridged by playing more and accumulating more knowledge about characters and their moves?
Dude, you made this game so real and you delivered it in such a confident and solid way that it changed my philosophy of the game. I am a "forever intermediate player" that was alway anal about staying safe and doing what was by frame data, the greatest moves. the reward isn't very good relative to the effort needed to whiff punish. You're probably gonna get hit by the long ranged s.HK more often than whiff punishing it

Actually, Juice, the Daigo manga explains that when he was a kid, he used to play SFII Turbo at full speed until he became a superhuman who was able to see games moving in slow motion. I think you need to do more research.

I know I'm about a billion years late to the party, but I wanted to let you know that today I consciously recalled something I learned about whiff punishing from this video, applied it, and won a round with it! I've been playing fighting games for years and do alright at ranked in SF6 so I've probably been subconsciously whiff punishing for a while. When I first got into fighting games I used the name Juicebox not knowing of JBA and then I heard of him and it just so happened we liked the same character (abel) too, but never really kept playing sf4. Then I went to UFGT 8 (I think it was 8) and I met him. We got to playing some MVC3 at the time, and this guy had nothing but helpful information to give me...he made playing against a pro gamer such an enjoyable experience. He gave me tips and we played for about an hour+ straight before the tournament. I just started playing ssf4 again about 2 weeks ago to get ready for ultra. When i started playing online (im still bad) I was wondering why people with with 1095847bp were DESTROYING me when they weren't doing anything special. I know now Its because the mentality that I have of only playing one way. I have to adapt and learn/study the game if I want to be on there level or higher. I'm glad my brother showed me this video because its almost like JBA is still helping me 'til this day. Thank you JBA!

I just watched this video... Well im still watching for the first of probably many times, halfway, but i applied the little ive understood in a casual match (idk how to work the dummy yet completely) somehow got matched w a silver and didnt win a single match, but had them a hit away several times, either way i doubted anything could help, i was watching these videos comparing them to a pill, and i just found this so im still not just learning i dont even know yet but ive already seen the improvement just having been taught this much. Ive loved fighting games all my life but when sf4 and mkdc hit online and of course there were online matches of the classics, i stopped playing because i just could not see a way to improve and could not stop anything skilled players were doing and did not know why, and this silver league player was either perfecting or just skilled themselves or noticed i waz learning and allowed me to practice the concepts, but i had a much better experience w sf6. Thankyou for this video if youre wondering if its worth a watch, the old dogs need new monsters

Not really. Whiff punishing her s.HK with a sweep for example is a pretty high reward because it gives you momentum to continue your offence.

Well im still watching for the first of probably many times, halfway, but i applied the little ive understood in a casual match (idk how to work the dummy yet completely) somehow got matched w a silver and didnt win a single match, but had them a hit away several times, either way i doubted anything could help, i was watching these videos comparing them to a pill, and i just found this so im still not just learning i dont even know yet but ive already seen the improvement just having been taught this much. Ive loved fighting games all my life but when sf4 and mkdc hit online and of course there were online matches of the classics, i stopped playing because i just could not see a way to improve and could not stop anything skilled players were doing and did not know why, and this silver league player was either perfecting or just skilled themselves or noticed i waz learning and allowed me to practice the concepts, but i had a much better experience w sf6.
