I just finished this mod for a friend and I discovered a really useful shortcut. Instead of trying to use tweezers to remove the black plastic plug (@ 6:18) (which I found impossible) I simply pulled out the plastic barrel that has the large spring around it that inserts into the other side of the part that has the plastic plug in it and pushed the plug out. Fast and easy.
Just did the mod, and fired it...... IT IS AWESOME!!

I just removed the reducer and yes there’s more bang for your buck. Thanks for your video. I couldn’t have done it without you. Yes the little brass part and o ring fell out but they only go in one way. Remember guys, have patience!
Just completed the mod. Super easy but pay attention to everything, take pics as you dissemble for reference. Have a small magnet tray for the screws. You are right about the spice! Love it. Thanks

Got the gun before knowing about joules. Actually got another gun that is also 7.5 but had it customized to 30, HDR68. So I went online to see if this HDS could be modify and here I am. And boy is it a lot easier to mod then the HDR68. Thank you kind sir.
Also to anyone reading this always check to see if there are more powerful versions of the gun you are thinking of buying and if it can be modified. Also if you are looking at test on youtube make sure they are testing the one you have or want. Many test are done with upgraded guns that will be useless to you if you plan on using the standard gun.
Works really well but actually easier to push out the restrictor from the bottom with a flat screwdriver than using tweezers!!

So I put the part of the assembly I needed to unscrew under some hot water, put it in a vise and used 2 single-pronged spikes and was able to turn them to get it off - whew!

I've got mine for home defense so that plug is gone. Glad to see someone has said a better way to remove the plug. My plug was out and I looked and thought, Humm I could have did that???? One of the best air guns I have.

Do you have the 7.5 j version ?
I do plan on doing the mod, I no longer can run the paint ball fields and I believe under 300# is max there. So removal is the plan.
One thing.... if you use a small Phillips screwdriver and push it out from the other end you use fewer 4 letter words in doing the mod.

wish somebody would do a review where they shoot the T4E before the modification and then shoot it again after and show the difference in velocity.

What happens if I remove the tiny restricter from the air tube also along with the other part?
A better way to get that plug out is take off the spring slide off the plastic tube. Use a small screw driver. Stick in the tube and just tap gently that plug pops put...
First time shooting this marker was amazing. Then I swapped to both barrels, and was completely let down.. I wasn't even that let down when I found out santa was a lie. My original thought was "use .22cal paintballs made into buckshots" looks like I can now revisit that experiment.

Ryan Chevrier I just completed the mod to remove the reducer and its like night and day better twice the power. After this social distancing thing is over I’ll take it to the range and verify the FPS states for this marker.

I just picked up the T4E .50. Is there a way to increase velocity for that model? Is not, can you post one? Mine looks like it can increase in round capacity by one round as well if you take out a plug in it.
with this power mod, will pepper balls break in the barrel, or is it safe to shoot them?

I just received mine from Ansgear. They modify it to 16 joules. Mine is junk right out of the box. After activating the C02 capsule, all of the air immediately discharges. It seems to leak out of every little seam in the gun. And it discharges so fast you can’t get one shot off. Any ideas?
Question, have you taken apart the mercury, rise torpedo revolver , and unlocked that as well too??? or unlock the restriction?
One thing that was not mentioned in the video. When doing the reassembly, I had to compress the upper part of the valve cover back onto the lower assembly using channel lock pliers. In the video, it looks like it lies down in place with no effort.

I pushed the restrictor out from the other end, it was much easier than trying to pull it out!
Haha same my tweezers just screwed the whole thing up from the front😂 in the end I shoved a screwdriver in from the back of it
I had a leak, but disassemble and reassemble no leaks huge power. I use it for home defense, very solid and reliable mod.
unless youre living in the UK(which if you are i feel bad) just buy a gun, its gonna be a lot more effective than this and if you depend your life on it dont use it.

I just bought this Umarex Shotgun T4E HDS online and it came by FedEx today! I have not shot it yet because still waiting for my ammo which arrives in two days. Yeah I know that sucks but what can you do. I will use the shotgun as-is for a while then I will try your mod which seems a bit tedious but like you said take your time and its worth it at the end so I will let you know the result! I did the mod and it worked for about 5 shots after that it just released all the co2 out the front barrel's. Not sure what happened. I ended up putting that little black restricter back on and it still dumps the co2. Please help
That's an interesting mixture of cast Zinc or Zink alloy and plastic-John in Texas
The metal subframe is pretty gnarly too. Lots of flashing on the sides that isn't cleaned up at the factory. Also the metal barrel release button on my first HDS68 was totally warped from the factory.
Can you do a tutorial on the umarex ruger 10/22?

Just got my hds 68 today at big 5 if anyone is looking. They have the pistols and paintball as well as rubber ball ammo in .50 and .68 caliber. There's a 20% off coupon you can easily find online. I got the gun and 100 rds of rubber balls for like $174 out the door! Sick so far can't wait to try out the mod. Hope it doesn't overpressurize and mess it up.

Update: Took the regulator out and reassembled the gun just as described. HOLY #@*!%! This thing is beyond gnarly now! It could blow the balls off a water buffalo. Definitely don't want to be on the business end of this unnecicarily powerful boomstick.

I did everything according to the video. Gun only fire's 1 time. leaves CO2 half full. have to put a new CO2, before it will fire again. Anyone experiance this?

Just got my 20-plus joules valve modification from Germany and I'm excited to try it out since I'm upgrading from the 16J version
I’m just waiting to carry out the same, the lack of “detailed” instructions makes me wonder as well as the fact it mentions removing the “glued” part?

@@Dugiesrevenge the maker of the 20+j valve said if you havent already, remove the limiter which is the black piece inside the chamber that you unscrew with the two little holes in it, remove the gold screw(tiny gold valve that fell out with me anyhow because i didnt see it til i was done), and use heat to weaken the glue holding the old valve pin threads tight, replace with the new one, and you should be golden. No I don't know how much the results differ between the 16j version in the 7j version, but they shouldn't because the only difference with the 16j over the 7j is the valve is already been upgraded and usually the air flow restrictor in the chamber has already been removed for you but that could have been just in my case, when you have the 16j version to begin with (and i do). But it's a noticeable amount more powerful so I can't be getting the same statistics as I started with considering the guy whose Channel we are commenting on ended up with that much power and that's how much I started with. And I said I don't have a chronograph or whatever they're using to measure speed and velocity but, the difference is very noticeable! I just shot a glass marble through a heavy plastic garbage can and left a rather sizable hole, and the marble size made so it vs chamber wasn't airtight or even close to it.
Before modifications : the only gun that you can shoot and then run and catch the bullet mid air or just become the target ! 🤣😂🤣

Drill a bigger hole in the black thing from the top and one on the side of it, than put it back in with the 🕳 on the side pointig down, if you want to make it right for single and double fire with better power but not on Overkill mode 🤘🏻😎❤️&✌🏻

How many Joules did it have before (should be written in the manual) the mod? How many did it have after the mod? In which country did you buy it? What's the allowed max Joules for such guns in your country?
i live in germany and here this gun is restricted to 7.5 joule but in it´s neighbor austria the same gun comes with 16 joule so i´d say (but i´m in no way a gun expert) you get even more than that because in this video he kinda doesn´t recommend shooting "full power" through only one barrel. and of course by modifying it one would be breaking german law
At 5.32, the gold pipe is that bending at the c02 end as this is the only part of this mod that worries me! Or is there some movement/rubber seal at that end?
Good question. Although, I think if you do it "exactly" like he did, you should be o.k. It looks like when he does it, he is pulling it away from the brass tube, not up very much so it only flexes the brass pipe a little and it seems to be able to take it. It would probably be more obvious how it is attached to the CO2 button and then tank from a top down view, but his is obstructed from our perspective.

Yes, but this would probably drop the velocity.

Don’t forget to mention this only works if you purchased the the version that’s slower. I just purchased the faster version and it not necessary.

I knoe that there is because the Umarex t4e hds 50 their paintball pistol has a similar power mod like this that ive watched done so if both of those do then obviously the PPQ will also. I

Got a new HDS 16 joule off Amazon new and took it apart. It didn't have the piece removed in this video. Weak two barrel.

Those have adjustable velocity. Just turn the Allen key at the back. Look up how to adjust the velocity of a spyder

I took mine apart and came to find a ltiny reducer/muffler piece that seems to fit into the brass tube linking the CO2 cartridge to the valve. I just can't find out on which end of the tube it is meant to go? Valve side or cartridge side? Could you help me out here?
The plunger goes into the transfer tube on the valve side.
TheInflicted I just had same thing happen to me, looked online for a parts list but found nothing, I just removed the 1 screw that holds the co2 barrel in place and removed , it all comes out in one piece, the little brass “plunger” only fits one way, slide it in and screw it back in and continue assembly, tested upon assembly and works as described, actually; the difference is insane, just ouch!

The final step was more difficult then said in the video. It bent my tweezers and I chipped the hell out of the little piece of plastic and the aluminum threads for the cap and it won’t go back on flush. But, found an easier way in the process. So, I now know what to do with the replacement gun, that I now have to buy.

Don’t use the tweezers it’ll mare it up. Just push it through from the opposite side with like a nail or something

My double barrel whammy has developed cracks on both sides of the outer housing where you load the nylon balls. I fixed the problem with Q-Bind but didn't know this gun was that fragile. Is this common?
Yes. Mine broke in half while playing, just behind the pivot point. I mailed it to Umarex and they replaced it.
@@TheInflicted That's good to know that Umarex have your back in situations like this. I emailed the South African Agents on 20 November 2021 and had to send a follow-up email as a reminder on 17 January. I'm going to see if I can deal with Umarex directly - as I'm fed up with clueless agents.
