This episode is so exciting. I had such a great time understanding the concept of 'chand' and 'laykari'. Your ways of deliver musical concepts in such a simple and fun way is something I am really enjoying. When you uttered 'merukhand' I was thinking 'wow he's heading towards some really advanced stuff here'. In the last episode when you mentioned that you are going to have an episode on 'laykari' I was guessing you are going to bring Ustad Shahid Parvez on the table, because he is such an amazig laykar. But it would be interesting to see Pandit Ajay Chakroborty too . Looking forward to the next episode.
Chhand: variations created by gaps between the beats, to make it groovy. Cycle of beats remains constant 1234, 1234.... Laykari: Rhythm play,, icrease or decrease the pace of cycle, 1324, 1432, 2314 etc
Thank you so much sir...that's what I am searching for... if possible could you please make more detailed on chand and lyakari..really thank you for this vedio
Hello Sir Namaskar 🙏🙏 Sir, kindly make a video about how a Newcomer Artist get a chance to perform in prestigious Music festivals or Sangeet sammelan's 🙏
Very well explained, Rishabh.. would be nice if you could show some examples of how chhanda and layakari is performed by vocalists and instrumental artists. Some examples of how artists like Ajoy Chakravartiji and some Gwalior/Agra Gharana vocalists, and instrumental artists like Pt. Ravi Shankar use Chhanda and Layakari to add sparkle to their performance, would be very nice.
2:45 "What does this create?"
Various degrees of Syncopation
So basically, Chhand = Syncopation
Laykari = Rubato
