Brian Alsruhe standard for the "rx" or advanced men. considering the number of reps involved in this, the average Crossfitter probably wouldn't be using 135# but I really like the layout of this. gonna try this tonight for sure! thank you.
Pizza for warming up and ice cream for cooling down. Actual training is rescuing children from burning houses. After this 12-week program, during which no kids were harmed, you take a dive in your local ocean and wash off the soot that way. Take a day of extra tanning and then the next program starts.
Hey man, have you considered starting up a Patreon? I know you don't make much money off of these videos, but they are without a doubt the most informative and motivational fitness videos I've found on the internet, and I really don't want you to burn out and quit. I'm a broke uni student but I would happily throw a couple bucks a month your way as my way of saying thanks for the awesome content that I have spent a ridiculous amount of time watching. Keep being awesome.
your mini rant in the beginning was spot on. doing wrestling and bjj nothing felt better than when youre going head on with someone in a clinch etc. and he gives up before you do
Great ideas, if you tried em all you can also go for this: what stan efferding suggested squat ( you have to start with at the highest 50 % of your 1rm) 20 reps rest 90s ( max 2 min) repeat 3-5 times works especially well with a powerlifting squat, because you hold your breath and you will have a lot more trouble breathing... don't rerack unless you can'T physically squat that weight anymore ( failed rep), or you are done with your set. Just stand there with the bar on your back, and grind if you failed a rep, lower the weight for the next set upside: ton of volume, your squat form will improve. you will get more efficient in the squat your legs have a ton of hypertrophie you will get veins on your legs(well i got some now... even though I'm still fat 14% or sth) you will get conditioned downside: you will have to go pretty heavy when your squat gets more efficient you can barely squat outside of your "conditioning", cuz your body needs rest it's hard. very hard. sometimes you will have to stand there for 30seconds between reps, weight on your back.
I did some conditioning today, for just about the first time ever! Its amazing how much you can crucify yourself with a 50lb weight vest and a flight of stairs 🥵.
So many people at my gym (it's a Strongman/powerlifting/rock-climbing hybrid) are social. They have a buddy or two. They're talking and shooting the sh&t in between sets. Sharing Instagrams. I see SO many happy people at the gym - and I'm all for it. But when I go to the gym, I train until I collapse on the floor, soaking it in my back sweat. It takes me a good minute or two to sit up, and another minute to stand up right - and I'm wheezing all the way, my lungs are SCORCHING. There isn't enough water in the WORLD to rehydrate me. And I'm the only one, that day, who's like that. Different people I guess. Which is why this video is friggin' awesome because a) It's Brian b) It trains you how to train for that real life burning house scenario.
Thank you so much! I watched the video where you explained your linear progression and I have started doing the same. Your giant set method and philosophy about going for the PR's every workout is so awesome. In that video you talked about the 10 minute conditioning. Now I have great ideas and guidance on how to accomplish them. Don't mean to get to greedy but I hope to see you demonstrate these five examples in a video because seeing it is really helpful for me. Thank you again for your awesome content and motivation you bring.
I know this is old but what a phenomenal sell on conditioning and training. I know you get a lot of comments but you should be proud of yourself for this information and inspiration.
lol, i'm with you on the ridiculous slang/shortcuts for some things, like w8. Seriously, it's an extra 1 second to type weight ! Awesome content as usual big man !
A plank for 10 minutes you feel for sure. These remind me of your mindset challenges videos. And doing a 10 minute plank because Brian said so. Awesome video man!
Thanks for the reminder on how conditioning should really feel and the templates Brian! Just finished up some odd/even burpees/inverted rows, was hating life a few minutes in but glad I pushed through, thanks again.
Great video, solid ideas to add some conditioning and keep it interesting. You are one of a few people with knowledge, a willingness too share, and a solid ability to share clearly. Keep it up!
I pizza'd myself out. Roommates were party goers so it was leftover pizza in fridge every Sat/Sun. Can't eat it anymore. I actually really enjoy my pasta sauce +Rice/chicken. Aside from that I keep my rests my entire workout to 1m45s. Whether it's racking, upping the weight or switching from one exercise to the next. I have 1m45s till I need to start another set. Keeps my heart rate above 120bpm so conditioning for me is done my first two workouts every day(I do 2 sets of some sort of leg exercise, one heavy and one ancillary every day)
Great stuff. I'm constantly trying to explain the benefits of hard conditioning sessions over long boring cardio sessions. I just usually end up telling them "Conditioning is for the predator, cardio is for the prey."
Love this. Used to run 5-6 miles per day. Cardio is tedious, so it's just as easy as occupying the mind. Conditioning is agonizing to the mind and body, but ultimately more sensible in regards to time and productivity.
Wise words Brian...HIIT traing for your whole body...your type of training is what crossfit attempts to do right but fails...because crossfit focuses only on GPP...heavy conjugate training with one session a week traing like this and add in some Yoga or pilates and your gold.
wow, you truly are knowledgeable, and you are really good at explaining this kind of stuff, never was into conditioning, but after this video, i'm definitely gonna give this a try
Looking forward to watching this, only discovered your vids this month, they've been really helpful. Need to up my conditioning, I've lost 5 stone/70lbs since last July, need to get rid of around another stone I reckon. Hopefully this will help.
Great video! Nice explanation of developing the habit of pushing through and not quitting. All that and a lot of great conditioning templates! Thank you!!
If you use a black ink for the white board it would be perfect my friend, i can't really see colors haha and i wrote everything on the whiteboard with your strength program but bcs it was black it was quit easy for me
so in regards to conditioning there's a UA-cam series called strength wars where they set up courses and pit strength athletes against each other in a race to complete them. don't know if you've ever seen it but I think it would be cool to see you set up a similar course and run it.
All I’ll do is either go for a run sprint as far as I can... rest... sprint... seems to work a treat Another good one get on a bike do 1 minute slow paced lower difficulty then the next minute higher difficulty at a faster pace I hate this one but it’s good
Doug Daley i just got a new job that is testing me. lumber yard with a retail section. last 15 minutes of every day, you load 2 trash cans on a cart. the trash cans are half full of waste concrete dust and block. probably 200 lb each. there are 8 cans. prowler push or sled drag the cart a quarter mile (from the concrete aisle to the compactor). dump the cans into the compactor (the lip of the door is shoulder high on me). get the empty cans back. now you have 3 more trips to make. repeat five nights a week, and hope you didn't have to palletize a truckload of portland cement earlier in the day. I'm tired, man!
I did the EMOM with deadlifts and planks this morning... My legs were on fire to the point where I was yelling and biting down on my barbell in front of me during the planks.
I dont understand when you recommend I do this. Day off? Currently my schedule looks like this: Tuesday: Squats and RDL. Wednesday: Bench and OHP accessory. Thursay off. Friday: Front squat, Good mornings. Sat: OHP and bench accesory. Sunday: Deadlift and squat. Monday off. Thanks for the advice bro
Thanks for a great video! Been incorporating an assault bike (not fun) to improve conditioning lately and that alone has helped a lot, I can only imagine how much these suggestions are going to burn
I'm so hyped. I was planning on adding in a conditioning day anyways so perfect timing. I'll probably add two now (not straight away lol I'll ease into it I'm not that stupid)
Great stuff Brian, thanks for having such a great channel. If its possible Id love to hear more about your lifting and how it connects to your martial arts training,. Maybe what in your training complements your Martial arts practices the most, and what you recommend, for other martial artists looking to improve their performance through the gym. Thanks, Keep up the great content. Love it.
Great stuff Brian! Been following your channel for a month or so now and really learnt a whole lot from your videos. Could you If If possible, could you perhaps address the difference between metabolic conditioning and just plain old conditioning in your next posts of this series too? Thanks a ton!
I'm a little confused with the Tabata workout. Tabata is 20 seconds work, 10 seconds rest. Your template has 20 seconds of one exercise followed by 10 seconds of another, totaling 30 seconds. Are we supposed to take 10 seconds of rest after the second exercise?
My heart was racing for the 15 minutes I watched the video just thinking about how much the conditioning would suck. So I think I just got 1 and a 1/2 sessions in.
Everybody wanna be a bodybuilder but nobody wanna do three tiers of antagonist giant sets and 10 minutes of conditioning.
Hahaha truth.
but Brian is a strong man... not quite "a body builder" i would love to see a "body builder" do the shit brian does,,,
PenguinzFtMFW it's a joke...
everybody wanna be Brian Alsruhe, but nobody wanna deadlift a 5 thousand pound Jeep.
-Ronnie Alsruhe
XD
As a person who's guilty of changing "weight" to "w8", I regret nothing.
Gr8 video thooo ;)
Hahaha
Fkn troll 😂 I love it
I'm naming my new power rack Brian
i'm naming my new Brian power "Rack"
danieljahn2027 I am racking my new power brian.
Vatansever I am new my naming Brian rack power. Am I doing this right?
No man You messed it all up.
Hahaha
20 Thrusters with "something light" -> 135 lbs. K then, Brian.
I laughed out loud at that. Brian out here writing workouts that would make Crossfitters cry
Isn't that standard for men in Crossfit?
I have no idea, but I would reckon the average of your viewership to not be Crossfit athletes. Also, I'm weak :^)
Brian Alsruhe standard for the "rx" or advanced men. considering the number of reps involved in this, the average Crossfitter probably wouldn't be using 135#
but I really like the layout of this. gonna try this tonight for sure! thank you.
The "Fran" WOD is 21-15-9 thrusters and pullups. The Rx for men is 95lbs, women is 65lbs.
normal tabata:
20 sec. work - 10 sec. rest
brians tabata:
20 sec. work - 10 sec. even more damn work
ikr i was like where the hell is the rest part
Lol
wow I think that brian is the only one that actually MOTIVATED me to do these exercices. It looks funny, manly and painful to do
Hahah thanks man!
I laughed out loud at your 'Walking on the treadmill is travelling' comment.
Hahah glad you liked it man!
The positivity and Dad jokes alone made this video worth watching. The great info is a bonus
Hahah man, i must be old if those are considered dad jokes!
anyone who doesn't like dad jokes is probably a lizard person

Hahah thanks man!
Ivgorod like a good neighbor neversate is there!
Best fitness channel period. Whoever thumbs down this vid is buggin
your mini rant in the beginning was spot on. doing wrestling and bjj nothing felt better than when youre going head on with someone in a clinch etc. and he gives up before you do
'No need of motivational songs or vid just watch Brian u will get motivated automatically' respect from India brother god bless u
Thanks so much man!
Great video Brian can't w8 for the next one!
Liam Almighty 😂
Oh man....
Liam Almighty you mean gr8 video
Liam Almighty thats qt m8
Liam Almighty gr8 m8 I r8 8/8
Brian you are a fucking inspiration
Thanks man!
Hahaha, "Phoned Dr Tabata and he said it was cool!"
Superb :)
Hahah thanks Matt!
Great ideas, if you tried em all you can also go for this:
what stan efferding suggested
squat ( you have to start with at the highest 50 % of your 1rm) 20 reps
rest 90s ( max 2 min)
repeat 3-5 times
works especially well with a powerlifting squat, because you hold your breath and you will have a lot more trouble breathing...
don't rerack unless you can'T physically squat that weight anymore ( failed rep), or you are done with your set. Just stand there with the bar on your back, and grind
if you failed a rep, lower the weight for the next set
upside:
ton of volume, your squat form will improve.
you will get more efficient in the squat
your legs have a ton of hypertrophie
you will get veins on your legs(well i got some now... even though I'm still fat 14% or sth)
you will get conditioned
downside:
you will have to go pretty heavy when your squat gets more efficient
you can barely squat outside of your "conditioning", cuz your body needs rest
it's hard. very hard. sometimes you will have to stand there for 30seconds between reps, weight on your back.
I'm going to push through against all odds...
and finish this pizza.
Hah good job man!
i have a legitimate mancrush on this dude. just love your videos!
Hahah thanks man!
I did some conditioning today, for just about the first time ever! Its amazing how much you can crucify yourself with a 50lb weight vest and a flight of stairs 🥵.

Different people I guess. Which is why this video is friggin' awesome because a) It's Brian b) It trains you how to train for that real life burning house scenario.
I am like you David. I’m happy to socialize after the work is done but from the time that I show up until my workout is over, I am all business
LOL. I checked with Dr. Tabata and he said it was cool. That one made me laugh, well done Brian!
the way you talk about conditioning is gold 😂 I'm really trying to implement this into my training thanks Brian
Thanks so much!

Brian Alsruhe wit NeverS8
I just want to say that, everything I've needed to set up my training, tweak it, and improve it, I have found in your videos. Thanks a lot, Brian!
if someone laughs at you while u do bear crawls....dont let it bother you.....at the same time dont blame them either LOL
Hahah good point
That subtle SOAD at the start of the video sets the mood perfectly for the Minion a few seconds later.
I know this is old but what a phenomenal sell on conditioning and training. I know you get a lot of comments but you should be proud of yourself for this information and inspiration.
I really appreciate this my friend!
lol, i'm with you on the ridiculous slang/shortcuts for some things, like w8. Seriously, it's an extra 1 second to type weight ! Awesome content as usual big man !
I LOVE you posts, you give good info and you are one of the funniest people I've listened to - keep it up!
NEVER S8!!
Aye.
A plank for 10 minutes you feel for sure. These remind me of your mindset challenges videos. And doing a 10 minute plank because Brian said so.
Awesome video man!
Hahah thanks Chelsey!
Four year old video, still amazing advice. Thanks Brian!!
Your little side comments make the videos better. Random laugh are great
I think your next t-shirt should be a 'Dare to be Great'..
Hahah that's not bad man!
this is quickly becoming my favourite channel man. we need outfits like this in my city up on north east England..
Thanks so much man but maybe get some people together and start your own! That's what i did!
Thanks for the reminder on how conditioning should really feel and the templates Brian! Just finished up some odd/even burpees/inverted rows, was hating life a few minutes in but glad I pushed through, thanks again.
Yet another great video Brian, I've got a light day at the gym tomorrow so I'll through one of these templates in at the start, roll on 5 am.
Thanks man!
Great video, solid ideas to add some conditioning and keep it interesting. You are one of a few people with knowledge, a willingness too share, and a solid ability to share clearly. Keep it up!
I need to put a good conditioning plan together for the firehouse.
I have some mindset challenge videos that will work perfectly man
I pizza'd myself out. Roommates were party goers so it was leftover pizza in fridge every Sat/Sun. Can't eat it anymore. I actually really enjoy my pasta sauce +Rice/chicken. Damn, 400m run with a medicine ball?! That's so badass, I've gotta try that sometime.
They are definitely brutal!
The humor makes this more realistic but not scary lmao
Really feels good when you already do what Brian recommends :D
I get hyped everytime you put out a video. You are super motivational
Thanks so much man!
yo brian i had 10 minutes, btw pizza is fun
Hahah good job man!
and you're a jeeper!! didn't know that but certainly adds to the coolness
Thanks man!
Wise words Brian...HIIT traing for your whole body...your type of training is what crossfit attempts to do right but fails...because crossfit focuses only on GPP...heavy conjugate training with one session a week traing like this and add in some Yoga or pilates and your gold.
Thanks so much man, i really appreciate that!
"you're probably going to vomit your brains out" - priceless!! love it!
This is definitely one of your best videos to day! Well thought out and put together
Thanks so much Paul!
Sick bro! Gonna slam some of these.
Oh and thanks, your free program helped me hit 305lb pr on my squat. Started it in February
You can get that 5th conditioning done in 10 minutes. I’m orca fat so running 400m without a med ball takes me like 2 minutes
wow, you truly are knowledgeable, and you are really good at explaining this kind of stuff, never was into conditioning, but after this video, i'm definitely gonna give this a try
Thanks so much!
Thank you for being so strong Brian
Hahah thanks man!
Looking forward to watching this, only discovered your vids this month, they've been really helpful.
Need to up my conditioning, I've lost 5 stone/70lbs since last July, need to get rid of around another stone I reckon. Hopefully this will help.
I hope it does brother!
Brian is who the wolf of wall street wanted to sell shares, damn convinced me to start sprinting with my broken foot
Great video! Nice explanation of developing the habit of pushing through and not quitting. All that and a lot of great conditioning templates! Thank you!!
If you use a black ink for the white board it would be perfect my friend, i can't really see colors haha and i wrote everything on the whiteboard with your strength program but bcs it was black it was quit easy for me
Noted, thanks man
If only I lived in Maryland!
Been wanting to do some more endurance and conditioning! Thanks for this Brian, I keep gleaning awesome info from you!
Sitting here in my Rise shirt wanting to lose some "wait" and this vid pops up on my feed. I feel like someone is trying to tell me something :D
Hahaha
great content. on a side note, your whiteboard printing kicks ass
so in regards to conditioning there's a UA-cam series called strength wars where they set up courses and pit strength athletes against each other in a race to complete them. don't know if you've ever seen it but I think it would be cool to see you set up a similar course and run it.
360p crew checking in... beating youtube before HD becomes available.
Hahah you are fast!
All I’ll do is either go for a run sprint as far as I can... rest... sprint... seems to work a treat
Another good one get on a bike do 1 minute slow paced lower difficulty then the next minute higher difficulty at a faster pace I hate this one but it’s good
Thrusters at 135 are not light!! haha you are a monster Brian, conditioning is awesome. Thanks!
Isn't that standard for Crossfitters?
This is awesome! I've been looking for some new conditioning ideas lately. Been running out of ideas.
I hope they help!
So much truth in a few minutes. You deffo not fit to be a politician.
notification squad.... haven't watched it... i know it's gonna be good... been waiting for some videos dedicated to conditioning....
I hope you like it man!
You immediately got a like from the "traveling on the treadmill" comment. Good stuff as always.
Great video. Very good time-saving techniques.
Thanks man!
You are my hero bro!! Finally, my questions get answered!! :)
Put the grilled chicken on the pizza! Compromise is key.
Hahah touche!
Motivated and laughing at the same time. I love these vidoes!
I really like this take on conditioning, definitely going to try mixing some of this stuff in to my workouts... Hate the treadmill..
This looks insane...adding this to my work outs. Here's to puking pre-work out!
Just found your channel, man. Before you got to the board it was actually really motivating haha.
And the content was very useful and instructive.
I did the EMOM with deadlifts and planks this morning... My legs were on fire to the point where I was yelling and biting down on my barbell in front of me during the planks.
You, Sir, do so many amazing videos. As an old fat powerlifter .....I damn near cried just reading those templates! ha ha Great work, Brian. Thanks
Brian recently subscribed love the channel youre the man gonna use this today at the end of the workout thank you for the tips
Thanks for trying them out Rex!
Awesome stuff, exactly what I needed thank you Brian !
The Air Assault bike is one of the hardest things ever. You do 12 Minutes tabata style and you will be in the underworld
I'm so hyped. I was planning on adding in a conditioning day anyways so perfect timing. I'll probably add two now (not straight away lol I'll ease into it I'm not that stupid)
You're honestly a guru
Great stuff Brian, thanks for having such a great channel. If its possible Id love to hear more about your lifting and how it connects to your martial arts training,. Maybe what in your training complements your Martial arts practices the most, and what you recommend, for other martial artists looking to improve their performance through the gym. Thanks, Keep up the great content. Love it.
Motivated me enough to do a Barbell complex directly after viewing the video. :D
Hahah oh man, complex are rough!
Rough but fun (to me) ;)
So good!!! Gonna incorporate literally all of this. Tell Dr. Tabata I said wassup.
Great stuff Brian! Been following your channel for a month or so now and really learnt a whole lot from your videos. Could you If If possible, could you perhaps address the difference between metabolic conditioning and just plain old conditioning in your next posts of this series too? Thanks a ton!
Can't wait to try these, thanks!!
I'm a little confused with the Tabata workout. Tabata is 20 seconds work, 10 seconds rest. Your template has 20 seconds of one exercise followed by 10 seconds of another, totaling 30 seconds. Are we supposed to take 10 seconds of rest after the second exercise?
UR awesome Brian, funny too
My heart was racing for the 15 minutes I watched the video just thinking about how much the conditioning would suck. So I think I just got 1 and a 1/2 sessions in.
Great video, nice jeep too.
Thanks Jack!
Just did template 1 with squats yesterday, that was awesome :O
Shared to my face space lifting group. Maybe it'll wrangle some more subs for yeh. Keep it up sir.
Great content as always Brian
Thanks Ralph!
this dude can go to the beach and take his shirt off endlessly. I'm so jealous
Hahah nah man, I am way too pale for that kind of thing.
