  • We have 8 adorable goats! 4 of whom are escape artists! We designed these goat neck things - lets call them necklaces - to ensure our electric fence works - and they STAY INSIDE the fences!
    Were we successful?
It took a couple of lessons - goat lessons (once we put the goat neck things on) they still came through the fence - but when they did, they got a really good kick from the electric fence - we put them straight back in the paddock AND.... they didn't come back through the fence again!
    It has been great!
The goats were becoming a real pain - as soon as I arrived at the farm - they would escape straight through the fences and annoy me while I was trying to get work around the farm done.
Now they stay put! we have - touch wood - managed to stop the goats from escaping their paddock! So, we thought we would share our success!
This is the best way to fence in goats and stop goats from going through fences. It also stops goats from jumping fences.
I had extra copper left over from a renovation, it's light and conducts electricity - it has been a great material for stopping escape goats!
I hope you enjoy our vlog - any questions, leave below, much love, Jade, xo

Put some high tensile barbed wire on the bottom. Make it hot 6 joules does the trick. The barb gets through the hair and makes a good shock.

Really cruel. I did the similar thing, and I thought I was cruel, now these guys have done it!

This seems a pretty cruel solution and one that could result in injury to the goat or other goats around it. It would be better to fix your fence up rather than this

Early research told me you need a minimum of 6000 v and 8 joules for goats, so bought 9000v 10 joule unit and all wire and connections capable of carrying the voltage, also important that earths are set up as recommended.
That with proper training, ie permanent post and wire mesh fence, that they can't get through, wired with 3 strands electric and train them in there for at least a week.
After that haven't had a single breach on 3 and even 2 poly strands also never turn you fence off and check function at least daily.

Goats don’t believe in God, I never seen them in Churches.

What about regular goat fencing? This won’t work for us.

Wouldn't it be easier to have a low and a mid range hot line infront of sheep wire netting? My sheep would get through that fence too. How did it go in the end?

Please dont make this in a hot country like Australia. The pipe will get so hot in the sun that it will burn the goat. This home made invention is cruel. There is a reason that all old traditional yokes are made from wood.

I have a question did this work? Do you have a drive through electric gate and have you tried it with them? The gate is thru valley vet if you have not heard of it.

Hi William, it worked really well with most of our goats. One of our wild nz goats just saw it as a new challenge. She would find ways to get it off or come through the fence anyways 😏 🤷. Its like trying to keep Houdini in a paddock. Lol.
