I'm really late to the party, but I still want to throw in.
My favorite cake is cheesecake. Especially cheesecake that's tall and fluffy. Here are the reasons.
1) To me it's the most delicious out of all the types of cake I've tried. I love both the taste and the texture.
2) It's so versatile that the possibilities are endless. Toppings, layers, different textures, different flavors like chocolate or caramel or lemon, different types of crust, mixing in chunks of things like cookies or nuts or your favorite fruit. You can do pretty much anything you want with one, but it's also delicious and interesting even if you leave it plain.
3) I really enjoy baking, and to me, even though it's time-consuming, cheesecake is the most fun to make.
That's pretty much it. 🙂

Nothing beats a nice moist chocolate cake that actually tastes like chocolate. Few bakers can accomplish that first goal, and even fewer can also nail the second. They usually rely too much on the frosting to do the heavy lifting.
Pineapple upside-down cake definitely! It's both unique and delicious!
Chocolate cake with vanilla icing and little bits of a chocolate bar sprinkled on top. :-) It tastes SOOOOOOO good! No baked good in the entire universe is better than it in my opinion. When you eat it, there's an explosion of flavor that touches your tastebuds and sends a shock to your brain that's a feeling sort of like WOW!!! It's so good!!!!! And the best kind is homemade, because I can't eat gluten or dairy. I can eat the chocolate, because the kind I eat is dairy free and gluten free.
Marble cake is my favourite! I also love any flavour of ice cream cake 👌
For my birthday I always ask for cheesecake, plain Philadelphia cheesecake.
At this moment I could go for a piece of arretjescake.
It's basically some butter, sugar and cacao with pieces of biscuits throughout the cake.
Once everything is mixed, you just put in in the cake-tin and leave it in the fridge for several hours.

Boston cream pie. Or ice cream cake with the little crunchy crispy bits in the middle, where the ice cream is just barely starting to melt. Also this almond cream cake that Whole Foods has (had? I haven't looked in a few years) that is AMAZING. So good we made it our wedding cake.

A year or so ago, my wife and I were in Poland for one night only. In the airport, they sold this nut pie / caramel cake thing, and it was one of the best five cakes I have ever eaten in my life. So, yeah, that makes the list. And I don't even remember what it's called.
