    I have had mine for about three years and love it. If you in a semi-professional band and can't yet afford a Nord Stage, these are superb keyboards.

      Yeah I’ll be getting one soon.
      Nord is insanely overrated anyway.

      @@ProficiencyMusic I love it. I bought it off reverb but it’s in perfect condition. I love the sounds and it’s a huge upgrade from my last keyboard.

    I love my VR-730. The organs and electric pianos are great. I’ve never been happy with the acoustic piano sounds. I wish I could get acoustic pianos on my VR-730 to sound like the acoustic pianos in your demo.

      hmm that's surprising. I would have thought the vr-730 would have even better pianos.

      Make sure you are using it in stereo, I find most Roland pianos do not seem to 'amp up' well in mono & sound a bit 'electrophonic', whereas Yamahas , Korg & Casio seem to be more forgiving in mono !!

      @Peter Horn, The Piano sample in my VR-09B is straight out of the RD800 & I believe the VR730 uses the RD2000 sample so the quality is not in doubt, but they only really 'perform' to their potential in stereo but are decidedly average when only in mono. ( I found out the hard way a while back with a BK7m module that had an outstanding piano when demonstrated in the shop through a quality stereo speaker system, but was crap when I tried it out on a gig in mono & I found exactly the same issue with my new VR-09B!!

      @@graghamstaylor2341 730 has the same Grand sample as your VR09 :) 730 has additional sounds FROM RD2000 like Y2C concerto, but nothing essential. Where did you get the information from that it is a RD800 sample? Hm, maybe, but if so it is a very much stripped down 'sample': VR Grand = 3 distinct velocity layers (no SN modeling to smooth transitions), sustain is just sustain (CC 64), e.g. no adding of symp. resonance, chassis hall etc. The highest, very harsh sounding velocity sample suddenly kicks in making it quite difficult to play in the mezzoforte range without occasional 'sound spikes'. On my PA (column stack), VR Grand has a bit more '3D atmosphere' when in stereo, but pure quality in sound is also ok when in mono - it sounds even more 'straight forward'. So all depends on the type of PA or keyboard amp (classical 'keyboard amps' are not suited for piano anyway) and the surrounding.

    Sucks that Roland does not include supernatural acoustic and drums sound engine, only supernatural synth is to be found on vr09b..

    Does it have ethnic sounds like Sitar, Banjo, Koto.....and Spooky Lead, etc? Because I play Reggae genres with my live band. I plan to buy this product.

    This one or juno ds?

    • @evankeal
      @evankeal 3 роки тому +2

      I happen to have both as my only ones in use for a couple of years. The DS has more types of every sound, better sounds when you compare the same patches. The DS layers sounds infinitely better, if you try to layer the VR both sounds become unpleasant and low fi. The DS has sequencing, arpeggiators and other workstation features. The VR has none. But the interface controls of the VR is special. You get a more pleasant, less menu driven experience on the VR. I would (and will) keep the VR and upgrade the DS. Probably the biggest difference: The organ of the VR is infinitely better in every way. If I didnt have the VR I would use my Alpha juno over the DS. The DS organs might be the worst of any workstation or synth ever made. Both came out around the same time. As far as I can tell the DS61 and VR have the exact same keybed. I tried a semi weighted piano key DS and could barely play it, its stiff. I paid about the same for each new from guitar Center.

      @@evankeal I think this is more of a stage keyboard hence better sounds. The DS has a sampling feature which I think makes it more superior since you can layer sounds and ceate your own sounds. This has the potential to replace any sounds that might not be up to par :)
