Owned plenty of cars, incl Fairmont coupes & Falcons over the years, and best car by far is my daily driver BA MK2 GT-P, 17yo now and still looks and performs way better than most of the boring bland identical shitboxes that are on the road, and usually in my way . This Velocity GT-P with the white stripes & BOSS 290 on the bonnet is a keeper forever, such a great car to drive.. 205000km, & still kills it with looks & performance.
    Thank you FPV.

Leigh Andrew. Thanks for the insight on the production of this magnificent Boss 335 engine. I have seen the 1/4 mile times the Ford Mustang GT 500 runs and this engine is quicker.

G'day all...Love this video...Been thinking...I wonder if a large -ish group of resourceful Aussies got hold of some of the FGX 's before they stop manufacturing completely, maybe 300 or so , and link with FPV or Prodrive..and manufacture genuinely great cars for both local and overseas enthusiasts..Cars not for the masses but built to specific customer requirements ...The skills would be retained for blokes like these and for those lucky enough to be able to afford to do it...they'd have an instant classic Australian built car...Not really realistic I know but we can always dream.....Cheers

FPV closed it's doors in 2014 or so I think, which is really unfortunate and depressing, we can thank the politicians for that. If I had the money and interest at the time, i'd love to set up a factory performance modification manufacturing place, but only able to dream at the moment... hopefully ford (and holden for that matter) get resurrected again one day, really depressing that this is happening

Hi guys, can't be many reasons for this, but no one seems to be able to get to the bottom of it, my 2009 fg gtp changes into performance mode with less than 1/4 engine load, the car has only done 66,000 km and I'm told this should not be happening unless this stick is pushed over to contact with the hall effect sensors,

    MrSelector1
Australia has in the past. The REPCO V8. As far as I'm aware, the old 308 and 253 Holden V8's were an all-Australian affair too: (I'm a ford boy at heart, but this is about Aussie manufacturing pride here!)
My guess is cost-competitiveness. We would have to export world-wide to be competitive in the rest of the world. As far as I'm aware, base model BMW M3 costs about AU$10k more (in Germany) than a base model GT-P does in Australia.
It's unfortunate, because I've got mates in Germany that can't believe the power that companies like KPM are getting out of the Miami, and for the over-all cost of the car and tuning...

It would have been good if the Base cars were built this way over the years as it's" these" cars that turned off people due to decades of poor manufacturing sending families broke fixing the bloody things. I bought an FG after 6 years of being away from the brand due to a shocking experience with an AU2 XR that was a pig the 2nd week I bought it. The FG is by far the best Ford I have owned they finally got it right to late.

It's a shame that it has to come to Ford closing it's factory doors come 2016.
I really do feel for the employees that have helped produce such amazing engines, my hat goes off to you people!
I will get myself a brand new GT before it all ends & store it away as a piece of Australian history. Last of the Aussie V8s'...

the i6 turbs is even more of an aussie than the rest, its 30 years worth or hard work by the ford boys developing the ever trust worthy 250block.
holden did do some good things in the past, but unfortunatly they have gotten lazy and its easier to let the yanks take over for them.
but as always there has to be one better in this case FORD have fought hard as underdogs but should be proud as they continue to do australia proud by building their engines here.

tom thinks these FPV motors are American crate motors, that weren't built from the ground up, in Australia & weren't fully developed by Aussie engineers....
Wikipedia lef him astray. But he is the kind of bloke that said there was no WRX for sale on caresales, yesterday, when infact there was heaps. yom's often wrong. Especially when pure bred Aussie muscle cars are concerned.

  • @ckempste
    @ckempste 11 років тому

Sell the FPV models overseas. Refine the internal plastics to match your competitors. Improve fuel efficiency. Introduce new options for your customers to personalise their vehicles. Replace your marketing team to bolster the brand and future style.

Hand made by Australian tradesmen. made here under professional working conditions with a1 materials and components. A long history of reliable trustworthy motoring.
most new cars sold in australia these days are stupid little gay hatchbacks. in other words "5 year throwaway cars" because that how long they last.

As good the engine is, its not enough to bring this back from the brink of total collapse. The engineering is world class, but the branding, marketing and sales channels need a kick in the ass. In typical government style, they pump in money to help a failing industry, but fail to address the basics.

so true, FPV in particular is superior technically, but marketing is run by bean counters, i mean how can anyone let the top racing driver lowdnes go back to the red? all they were asking for was cpl million at 888, sack 5 morons in marketing and theres the money to keep lowndes. and they were champion winners i mean seriously. bathurst winners, wtf. need some advice talk to your loyal customers what they want
