I lived my N64 but that controlled was terrible. Nostalgia makes people remember everything as being better than it actually was. Those controllers, Dragonball, the 80's... yoy name it, nostalgia will give yoy a hard on for it, despite the fact that ya kinda already know it sucked.
Have to defend a few of these. The N64 controller was innovative and comfortable, if admittedly gimmicky. It and the Dreamcast controller also share the limitation of only having a single stick, but as an evolutionary step, I think they were both pretty good. The Wii remote was also great when developers played to its strengths, such as with the Metroid Prime games, but lazy developers just used waggle as a substitute for button presses. That's a software problem, not a failing of the controller. Finally while there are tons of negative things you could say about the Atari Jaguar, I think its controller gets a lot of undeserved hate. Yes, it's ugly, but it's way more comfortable than it looks and has a decent D-pad, though the short cord and loose plug are valid complaints.
I actually really liked the n64 controller, i get separating the dpad from the jstick is dumb, and the jstick was broken, but the size and button placement was comfortable for me
To be fair almost all of the games for the 64 either used the analog stick or the d pad but never both so it was actually a pretty innovative and comfortable design considering.
I honestly didn’t think the Nintendo 64 controller was that bad...except for maybe the fact that the control stick’s kinda loose which led to the infamous Sneak N’ Snore mini game from Mario Party 2 being almost impossible to win...
My only complaint was the control stick wearing down over time. If they used the style of control stick from the GameCube on the N64 it would not be an issue.
The Wii Remote worked just fine. And the only thing wrong with the N64's controller was the roughness of the analog stick, which was only really a problem if you had to rotate it crazy fast.
I admit, I did not really know how to hold a N64 controller when I was a kid. I always grabbed it with one hand on the middle part. And even though I did not really mind the Wii remote, it was the reason why I now hate motion controls.
As far as I can remember, the thing with de N64 controller was that it was designed under close surveillance from Shigeru Miyamoto, who wanted it to be confortable for him. As 10% of world's population, Shigeru Miyamoto is left-handed... it seems he forgot about the other 90%

I think you should say that "You must pick pads that are clearly bad" not "debatably bad". N64 pads are debatebly bad but I dont support that arguement at all
The N64 wasn’t designed to use all buttons at once. Maybe try researching next time, that’ll help ya. And the Wiimote and Nunchuck are not bad controllers at all. 99% of my experience with the wiimote and nunchuck are pure bliss.
Yeah to be honest most of the N 64 games require you to use the control stick in the middle and the buttons on the right side so you don't necessarily have to use the buttons on the left side of the controller at all. if anything those were more optional buttons. Such an open and closing a minimap which isn't really something that needs to be done in the heat of the moment
The XBox S controller was not designed as an upgrade. The Duke controller was for the US and European players. Microsoft made the smaller controllers specifically for the Japanese market. Stating ... get this .... true story ... Japanese people have smaller hands than the people of the rest of the world. But Microsoft later found out that the Duke was just too big for everybody and the smaller controller became the standard pack in everywhere.
Ok. The N64 Controller has its faults. It wears out quickly, it feels weird, but it was innovative and the trident design gave you various ways to play games. And the Wii Remote? Just… No. It was THE motion controller. And it works completely fine. I know motion controls gets a bad rep but it’s far from a bad controller.
Agree. The N64 Controller is fine as it is. Hardly any games used the D pad anyways from what I remember. The Wii controller is also fine as it is, especially when playing games that don't require motion controls, or the motion controls were decent depending on the game.
Surprised they didn’t use the clip from Billy and Mandy where Grim was holding this ridiculously comical game controller with nearly a hundred different buttons scattered all over it to which he said “I can’t even figure out how to hold this thing”
All of these just look crazy having grown up on the nintendo wii I loved the wii ramote and nunchuck even though I did end up throwing it at a few tvs between 2008 and 2016 before I switched my gaming to my ps4 which I have had for 4 years.

The only problem with the Dreamcast controller was the cord.
Yeah it went the wrong way!
The power glove was also mentioned in a nightmare on elm street movie, Freddy’s dead.
The n64 controller was pretty good to me and dude y'all must have small hands at watch mojo, even when I was 8 I could reach all the buttons comfortably.
17:55 inspiration for the infinity gauntlet.
I wonder if Video Games will go on forever.
40 years later: brain games they are games u play with ur brain
They make around $100 billion a year, they're not going anywhere.
Well see.
They're going to be around for as long as books have been, I think
Wutang is Forever, not video games.
The final battle of the nintendo wii zelda twililight it's one of my beloved memories using the wii remote and nunchuck.
Who else was expecting the virtual boy to be on this list?
That one's a bad _system_ as opposed to a bad _controller._ The actual controller looks pretty vanilla.
The teleporting fat guy shows how awesome the power glove is
The Duke is one of my favorite controllers of all time. I'll die on this hill.
Nintendo really had meetings like
"OK! What's our next controller, people?! No bad ideas, c'mon....let it out!!!"
Ok, when you pick 20, you have to pick ones that are debatably bad. The wii and n64 aren’t the best, but they’re fine to use.
I think you should say that "You must pick pads that are clearly bad" not "debatably bad". N64 pads are debatebly bad but I dont support that arguement at all
WatchMojo: “Using the Wiimote and Nunchuck is a painful experience.”
Me: “.....Yeah no....I love the Wii Remote! Change my mind!”
I'm so mad that they used angry video game nerds content and didn't even give him credit
I just realized it put his name on the corner of the screen every time his content was used
Who came along and said: “ Ok. Let’s have 3 grips on the N64 controller
Ever tried playing Goldeneye or Perfect Dark with the left 2 grips??
Are we going to forget the big steel battalion controller? Huge learning curve and many buttons, levers, and switches.
Uhhh the N64 and Wii controllers are legendary and pioneering. Yeah they sucked for a few games but they don't belong here at all
I know. This list is bullshit.
I thought the power glove was just something from Regular Show I never it was an actual controller
No.. I'm sorry. The N64 controller is one of the greatest controllers ever.
I'll always love the N64 but the controller was terrible. I remember hating it when it first came out
The only place the Activator should belong to is a mid 90s montage segment for America's Funniest Home Videos.
The N64 controller and Wii Mote were fine. I’ve never had any problems with either one. Not sure why they are on here.
Ikr
Oh give the N64 and wii a break, why does Nintendo get so much hate in the last few generations
Beats me
This list is actually trash 😂 I could find a better list by googling “worst controllers of the last 20 years”
All of these just look crazy having grown up on the nintendo wii I loved the wii ramote and nunchuck even though I did end up throwing it at a few tvs between 2008 and 2016 before I switched my gaming to my ps4 which I have had for 4 years.
I am still 13 but I agree the Wii remote is awesome!
“I love the power glove, it’s so bad. And I mean BAD!!!! - Angry Video Game Nerd
The power glove actually worked for me, I know many had a hard time with it. It boiled down the the general quality of it.
