Fun Fact...not only the world record, but 6 of the top 10 smallmouth ever caught came out of Dale. Grew up fishing out of that marina you guys are in at the beginning of the video. 25+ years fishing that lake. It's a Gem.
I've proben this technique works everywhere, I mean everywhere. I'm fron Spain and I had never heard about speed cranking in cold water until you guys told us last year, and dude... we are killing it!
That wake is like fishing Lake of the Ozarks on any given weekend non stop during the summer. :-) Got my Tactical cranks and I'm ready to try this out!! Thanks guys!!
Great seeing you on Dale Hollow. I was born close to there in Jamestown and the best memories of my youth were on that lake with my dad. Thanks for another great video.
Burn burn burn burn pause...boom! Last night just before 6 pm the bite lit up. I speed cranked my R2S/TB75 and jacked four back to back. Why? Coz the water temp went below 65 and low and behold it truly works! I’m a sold believer in this bait and will probably buy a few more! These are a must have in any anglers tackle bag/box! Thanks for the awesome in depth video! Tight lines and best wishes from SE Missouri!
I took a couple of DD75 to Mexico's Lake Pecacho last February. Although we were killing them on Senkos, I did try the DD75 and caught 6 larger than average LMB using the burn-burn-pause method and a 7:1 reel. They did overpower my Dobyns CB rod, so used a BPS Deep Crankin' Stick.
I’ve been speed cranking this Spring and Summer. It has worked great. Now Fall will be tougher. I have the Tactical cranks... just need a boat to get deeper water. Welcome to Kentucky guys!
The weird thing is, the exception to the rule like a wiggle wart that has a crazy wide wobble. And just for contrast, I have freaking smashed em on a 6xd in the wintertime, and then other times they wont touch it but they'll eat the tactical crankbait. Cranking is my absolute favorite way to catch a bass and I have elavated my game watching you guys, but I still get confused from time to time when it comes to figuring out these little green fish lol! Thank you guys for putting out these videos, you are the number one informative fisherman on UA-cam in my opinion!
this video is so good! I've never been a crankbait guy maybe caught 3 fish in my life on them. I live in the lakes region in NH and i grabbed my crankbait box, my cranking stick, and went down in my kayak to my favorite local pond. Started off throwing a square bill and realized it wasn't getting to the fish and hitting the deeper rocks so I went to a dt6 and caught 3 but I still felt it was not getting deep enough I switched to a wiggle wart and boom started slamming them. The next day I went to a smaller lake a few miles down the road and with a wiggle wart in a different color I had multiple big smallies follow my bait to the boat and caught a 3 lb largemouth, a 3-pound smallmouth, and a 4.37-pound largemouth. crankbaits up here are so underrated and I will DEFINITELY be buying more crankbaits and fishing them more often. Thank you Tactical Bassin for educating me on crankbait fishing and giving me a lot of confidence in these baits just from fishing for 2 days.
Another awesome teaching video. Used crank baits Oct 10th in Western TN because of this video. It worked had an awesome day. If only virtual school could be as cool as watching TacticalBassin ;-)
finally took the advice and switched out rings/trebs with the owner scheme on a few diff crankbaits. the difference is obvious from first turn. the owners make a 2 tap feel like a disk knocker. pretty awesome.
Other than the awesome job you both do teaching, it's awesome to watch how fluid you both are on the deck of boat, casting, reeling and swinging on the fish...one knows what the other is doing without saying anything! You have me pumped for some up coming trips to run this technique! Awesome video guy's!!
Crazy that you guys are revisiting this technique at Dale Hollow. I remember reading about a local “stick” there that would absolutely hammer massive smallies by trolling an old school Bomber crank bait and ripping it it toward several feet with his rod.
I live in the small town of the dale hollow dam. My great great grandpa owned the land it was built on. This is what I fish every single day thank you so much for this video the fall I really have problems
Interesting timing on this video. I don’t know if you remember me but I had a heck of time trying to buy the tactical dd. I just last week finally put my hands on one!! At a local store of all places! I had given up tryin to order one long ago. Now that their available and you show me the importance of the craw color I have to go back! My wife hates you but so does the guys in the local derby!!!!
Another awesome video guys! We have caught some really big one in the fall doing this technique in our Local Pond spots. I'm thinking it's time to go try this again, it worked awesome last year in October. Our profile Pic Fish was caught this way. Keep em coming guys!
Just picked up a lipless crank and a shallow running square bill and I can't wait to see how they work this weekend! I'll be using your techniques/advice for sure! Should have that video up by Sunday.
Great video. Dale Hollow is my home lake and am fishing there in the morning. Don't have the exact setup ready, but gonna try that with the cranks and setup I have.
Great video, hope to see you guys get out and cover Norris and Melton Hill soon. I live between these two and fish them most often, they are completely different fisheries and for me have been tough. Glad to have you guys in East Tennessee!
Great video again! Have a question about this technique: since you fish so many different waters I wonder if you got any experience how other species like walleye, pike or perch commit to this style of fishing a crankbait in cold water.
Great video. I’m up in New Hampshire and water temps are high 50’s to low 60’s. This technique is my weakness but I think you have explained it absolutely perfect. I’m gonna go out and try it. Thank you. I give it a little over a month before I’m walking on water again!!! Hope you guys get out there and do an ice fishing video this year.
Love your guys' stuff! Best channel on UA-cam. Overall I wish you guys would mention temperatures more in your vids. And also talk more about lakes up north (WI, MN, MI) that doesn't have shad.
TacticalBassin hahaha the ponytail comment seemed to be too much of a tip off. Hey, you can know now that this video caused me to look at the tactical crank and I’m looking at picking up a couple for Memphis area speed cranking purposes!
DHL! Not sure if those 12lb-ers are still swimming around there, but after a huge fish kill years ago the slot rules are helping some big smallmouth to start showing back up. Hope you enjoy the challenge of figuring out a great lake!
So glad to see this! Especially in my area of the country. I’m about 4 hours away from Dale Hollow. Just ordered some Tactical Bassin' DD 75 Crankbaits - DD Minnow and Green Pumpkin Craw. I’m hopeful to put them to work!!
I live an hour from DH, love to fish it late winter until May when the Ohio navy shows up and wrecks it lol, the Spro Rock Crawler was a beast this past spring , didn't even think to use the TB DD 75
I live 5 hrs from Tennessee In South Carolina... you guys should come see if you guys can figure out lake wylie .. our weigh ins have been like 11 pounds winning... it's an old and big lake but no one seems to produce good fish
I’ve been using jerk bait like u suggested for fall and let me tell u I’ve never had bass hit a lure hard until I started using them, whopper ploppers have also been really good for me
Still have my tactical DD from last year didn’t know when to use it so I didn’t also I didn’t want to lose it 😆. Just from being in my box the bottom hooks CARVED into the cranks ribs thought those HOOKS are SHARP.
hello how are you guys doing I hope all is well my question is that I fish from the bank and most of the lakes and ponds that I fish are no more than 10 feet deep some are less than that what baits should I use thanks
I don't really have access to deep water im fishing ponds would yall recommend like a flat side crank since the wobble is tighter im fishing average 4-8ft at most
Matt I live right on dale hollow lake I fish about three days a week if you ever have any baits you want to test on dale hollow I would be interested in testing it for you . I'm in byrdstown tn right outside star point and sunset marinas. If your ever here give me a Hollar if I can help with anything.
Great information, my son and I fish central florida lakes, not very deep with lots of grass, could a square bill be used as well, if so your recommendations?
I’m heading out the door in a few minutes to another well known highland reservoir- table rock. 12 hour drive from Denver for a week on the rock. Let’s see if this works for me there.
Does your speed cranking Technique work well with a grass sandy bottom? Every video with the speed cranking mentions rock. I live in Fl on a lake with tons of vegetation and soft sandy bottom in the deeper areas. Have two of your crankbaits coming this week. Any tips for clear grassy lake. A few holes get to 20 plus ft depth.
Good video. A lot of great advice in it. One thing that would be helpful though is if you guys told us the conditions, water temp, weather, things like that.
Fun Fact...not only the world record, but 6 of the top 10 smallmouth ever caught came out of Dale. Grew up fishing out of that marina you guys are in at the beginning of the video. 25+ years fishing that lake. It's a Gem.
Commenting everyday until you help me fish my family’s little private lake in East Tennessee! (Day Three)
I've proben this technique works everywhere, I mean everywhere.
The number 1 thing on my bucket list is to come fish with you guys lol
Never tried this type of technique. I am excited to try it.
Burn burn burn burn pause...boom! Last night just before 6 pm the bite lit up. I speed cranked my R2S/TB75 and jacked four back to back. Why? You guys finally hit my lake thank you guys so much I appreciate you guys!!!! ❤️
I’ve been speed cranking this Spring and Summer. It has worked great. Now Fall will be tougher. I have the Tactical cranks... just need a boat to get deeper water. Welcome to Kentucky guys!
Thanks guys, like I needed some more tackle to buy! Lol
Love your enthusiasm and spirit. Even being waked. Great sportsmanship.

This is hilarious because this is exactly how I caught a bass yesterday.
Me too
I got a bite by doing this by mistake. Never thought it was because of using this technique. Teach us wise ones!
Tim and matt well done,as always,
finally took the advice and switched out rings/trebs with the owner scheme on a few diff crankbaits. the difference is obvious from first turn. the owners make a 2 tap feel like a disk knocker. pretty awesome.

You’re videos are the best. I learn so much each time thank you!
Great Lake! And Star Point marina is
A cool marina !!!
Fantastic Lake, Love Fishing there. Great smallmouth in that lake.
Crazy that you guys are revisiting this technique at Dale Hollow. I remember reading about a local “stick” there that would absolutely hammer massive smallies by trolling an old school Bomber crank bait and ripping it it toward several feet with his rod.
Used your technique today and it worked! Caught a beautiful Bass! Thank you! Muuuuuch respect! 👊👊👊
You guys are simply amazing. I have never learned so much about fishing in my
Life !! Keep up the great work guys. You have a sub for life.
I live in the small town of the dale hollow dam. My great great grandpa owned the land it was built on. This is what I fish every single day thank you so much for this video the fall I really have problems
Commenting everyday until you help me fish my family’s little private lake in East Tennessee! (Day One)
Hey Matty and Tim, What’s the depth range you like to do this and what’s your thoughts around wood, bushes etc ?
Chick is my home lake, but love Dale Hollow as a get away place. Made several trips there. Legendary lake for sure.
I'm really pumped to try this method. Thanks!

Sooooo....I’m literally fishing dale hollow this weekend! This is going to be fun
Awesome! I wanted see this exactly cause I wasn't sure I was doing it right! I'll definitely be trying this out soon!!
I am pretty excited to get back out there and try it.
Awesome video have your crankbaits can’t wait to use them the right way did not know to speed crank thanks
Love Tactical Bassin fishing im my home State of Kentucky 🔥🔥💪
They might be in Tennessee though.......
Please do some east coast winter swimbait fishing now that you guys are based in TN!
Great video. Dale Hollow is my home lake and am fishing there in the morning. Don't have the exact setup ready, but gonna try that with the cranks and setup I have.
Matt & Tim that was a great video, so much useful information 👍👍👍👍. Keep up the great work. The Englishman ( Nigel )
you guys should fish the big bass tournament at lake cumberland this weekend
Great video, hope to see you guys get out and cover Norris and Melton Hill soon. I live between these two and fish them most often, they are completely different fisheries and for me have been tough. Glad to have you guys in East Tennessee!
Don't forget to check out Center Hill Lake between the chickamauga and Dale hollow also full of big smallmouth
Awesome video you guys are so educational!
Great video again! Have a question about this technique: since you fish so many different waters I wonder if you got any experience how other species like walleye, pike or perch commit to this style of fishing a crankbait in cold water.

I love that Matt left a review for the tactical crank on tackle warehouse hahaha
LOL I didn't leave that. Someone with a strange sense of humor did 🤷♂️
TacticalBassin hahaha the ponytail comment seemed to be too much of a tip off. Hey, you can know now that this video caused me to look at the tactical crank and I’m looking at picking up a couple for Memphis area speed cranking purposes!

Taking a fishing trip to dale hollow this weekend, glad to see the fish biting! Also, one of the guys going with us is named Matt Allen.
Is there a way to hit you guys up down there for a bait purchase? Can’t say I’ve seen your brand in local stores.
Y’all have to come night fish Dale Hollow next summer. Late May or June is insane on this lake!!
ha! im digging the new 'low budget' section in rod combos. snarky af but awesome.
I really wish you guys could do something on lake Murray SC, now that's a challange.
Dale Hollow is a magical place!
Tactical crank does really well at a crawling speed too. Caught several 3-4s this past winter going really slow.
I have to get me one. they are really expensive though.
Love the tips, thanks guys.
Good tips. It's hard to fish ths main channel on our lake because of the wake boats, come on fall weather. FLC
I live 5 hrs from Tennessee In South Carolina... you guys should come see if you guys can figure out lake wylie .. our weigh ins have been like 11 pounds winning... it's an old and big lake but no one seems to produce good fish
When fishing this style in the California Delta do you fish parallel to the shore or more towards the deeper center of the slough?
Would LOVE to see a video from Tims Ford Lake.
How long is your leader to braided line and what knot do you use for line to line mono to braid I love your videos keep up the good work
You guys are awesome at you do. I wish I could get paid to do what I love doing. Keep at it.
I seen you guys on the water out there lol when you guys went towards Mitchell creek I was beside you in tr21
I don't know how you guys don't snag each other more often. I'm flinching just watching you sit there.
Spro rock crawlers are one of my favorite smallmouth cranks i've yet to get my hands on one of your cranks.
You should come fish center hill good smallmouth lake
Explanation on point thank you guys for sharing
Also could you do a follow up video for what you're looking for and ultimately what makes you decide to try the speed cranking that day
Is there any underwater video of the tactical crank? Can’t find a thing
Hey Fellas - what type of knot do you guys use with the braid to mono?
I’ve been using jerk bait like u suggested for fall and let me tell u I’ve never had bass hit a lure hard until I started using them, whopper ploppers have also been really good for me
Still have my tactical DD from last year didn’t know when to use it so I didn’t also I didn’t want to lose it 😆. Just from being in my box the bottom hooks CARVED into the cranks ribs thought those HOOKS are SHARP.
I wouldn't want to lose it if it cost $16!!!! Hook sound SUPER sharp!
Awsome video. Thank you for the info
hello how are you guys doing I hope all is well my question is that I fish from the bank and most of the lakes and ponds that I fish are no more than 10 feet deep some are less than that what baits should I use thanks
Fantastic video! New subscriber here!
Great video guys. Do u all have a fall video of when the lakes are turning over??? East Tennessee lakes turn a blackish color..
I don't really have access to deep water im fishing ponds would yall recommend like a flat side crank since the wobble is tighter im fishing average 4-8ft at most
6th sense has a good one
6th Sense Crush Flat 75 is really nice
Use a lipless crank , very tight action and is really good in shallow water
Can't wait to try this out!
Beautiful lake!
I love this channel!
dang, you guys were 20 minutes from me!! I fish that lake every time I go.
I’m heading out the door in a few minutes to another well known highland reservoir- table rock. 12 hour drive from Denver for a week on the rock. Let’s see if this works for me there.
I hope you slay them and catch a PB!!!
Sean I heard the bite was on for tanneycomo too
They say the rock is producing right now. I’m an hour west of there
Are you guys making bottom contact all these catches?
Did you guys put in at Horse Creek?
I'd love to go fishing with you guys at Dale Hollow. Love that lake!
not sure if you guys are aware or not but your crank is a walleye machine up here in wisconsin, not speed cranking specific but just in general.
What kind of lake would Tenkiller in Oklahoma be considered?
Great video thank you
Do you always want the crankbait making bottom contact or does this work over suspended fish as well?
Does your speed cranking Technique work well with a grass sandy bottom? Every video with the speed cranking mentions rock. I live in Fl on a lake with tons of vegetation and soft sandy bottom in the deeper areas. Have two of your crankbaits coming this week. Any tips for clear grassy lake. Good video. A lot of great advice in it. One thing that would be helpful though is if you guys told us the conditions, water temp, weather, things like that.
Awesome videos, thanks for the info brotha
Interested in the Bass X 7'2" MH, just wondering if it would handle anything bigger like a 6XD?
Does speed cranking work in the summer also?
Thanks. Im going to stick to it this fall. Great ending hahaha
