I am encouraged that a freshly graduated Physiotherapist relative mentioned Popliteus when I described a recently aquired pain in this vicinity. Sadly, your patient in this video has convinced me that I will not be placing myself in anybody's hands anytime soon, whilst I continue to ever so slowly improve under my own instinctive pampering. I have rehabbed a couple of knees already, from fractures to patella dislocation, and in my eighth decade, I dearly wish to groan no more...😄

Man was in so much pain he coughed 😛 I currently have a popliteus injury after kicking someone in an open water swim. The next day I day I cried from pain during a run and couldn't straighten my leg. Went to see a physio and she did almost exactly what you're doing, with some ultrasound treatment. I think there's a tear so she strapped me up and I'm impatiently waiting to start running again in 2 weeks after more messages. Good Physios are such gifts to sportsmen and women. Thank you for this!!

This is what I did ten years ago. Believe it or not I was carrying a tray with a latte just after being served at a cafe. The latte was falling over. I twisted to avoid the hot coffee. No pain. The following morning I was in agony couldn’t stand on leg. Took me months to walk. MRI showed strain of popliteus and slight cartilage tear. Still aches now. Will have physio. Can straighten leg but cannot put calf muscle on quads.

Hi Darcy .... thanks for this video as I think it has spot on hit my problem. Did a 20m quarry jump into water and hyperflexed my knees about 3 weeks ago. Both hurt but as the right has had pevious misstreatment it was not able to recover like the left. Though sore I could swim out and after a few minutes feeling sorry for myself I could gingerly drive home (thank god I have an automatic). Next day could not walk on the right knee - did the elivate Ibuprofen and ice pack treatment and slowlty got, hobbling, walking and about 10 days ago even started running. Did lots of planter flexion excercises , calf raises, rubber bands etc and this week was able to go back to the gym and run 5 km every day fairly hard. It was tender but ok - so I thought I was ready for beach volleyball ( I know stupid). Anyway on one of the net jumps landed in a locked out position on the sand ... and felt a twig. This then happened again on a small jump and the 3rd time the knee just felt weak and gave way, so I wised up and called it quits. Walked home fine but worried as I am hobbling again and have to go coach swiming in NY in two weeks where I will be required to be physically active. I went to the NHS and had it x-rayed after the initial jump. The knees is a bit of a mess - as I chipped off a piece of bone in front of the tibia and sliced it open falling down a mountain at 12 growing up in Namibia. And did a medial strain which I had to rehab 3-4 years ago surfing as well as came off a motorbike on an earlier surf trip. At the time I donated skin to the tarmac and was traveling in places where hospitals were 50/50 as to whether you come out better. So after asking the local boys who had had similar accidents I got guaze banadges silverdurm cream and good old tiger balm and self medicated ... not just rum and beer promise, also did excercises, rubber bands, extentions to get things back. The X-ray also showed I previosly cracked the knee cap ... which I cant really remember. Anyhow when I did the quarry jump I felt like 3-4 swollen lines on the right back of the knee ... running diagonally doward from the outside of the knee in. These has swollen up and disapeared after a few days of ice. After the volleyball they have bounced back up and I have them back iced as we speak. I will definitly go see an osteopath in the next few days ... thought your mates moaning and writhing has me rather nervous I have to admit. treatment looks ouch. Any excercises I can do ?

damaged . Can't even find anyone in the states that does this kind of massage . I have mostly lateral knee pain but doc says it's popliteus muscle
confirmed through a tendon sheath injection that i had done that took pain away for like a day. Doc won't even do surgery . Not sure what to do .

When my snapping happens it hurts and is really loud. Then after 5 seconds the pain goes away. Doesn’t happen if I run but will happen when jumping or quickly changing direction. I have posterior knee pain (6 months now) that starts at the knee and radiates out to mid calf and mid thigh. It limits my range of movement even while rested, and once I have stood or walked (limped) for any amount of time it becomes excruciating to try and bend it at all. I had assumed it was sciatica (Dr on a telephone consultation had no questions). I have a horrible feeling it might be this. I don't want it to be this. Dorf is a big strong guy and I don't think he was faking the pain. I don't want that. The physio clinic would kick me out for using all the swearwords.

I need your advice please: j had a meniscectomy on my right knee last july (7 months ago), unfortunately i haven't been able to exercise since (i used to be quite active: running & doing a couple of boxing classes every week), the advice i was given by the surgeon & the physio were very basic (no impact training, just cycling & swimming), I'm finding this extremely difficult to accept as I truly want to get back to some basic running & light boxing classes.
Could you please tell me if this is possible, as you have the experience dealing with such issues on a daily basis??? And if so , what kind of exercises I should be doing to improve my chances of getting back to running again.
Please help me out, as this situation is really depressing me quite badly.
