I have to say there are many videos on UA-cam of people stealing pure breed pets from homes. I saw surveillance videos of people who broke into homes and yards just to take a pure breed dog. The only way the owners know what happens is watching the surveillance footage. Without it, they would have no clue why their pet is gone. So it can happen. And Shih Tzu's are one of the breeds stolen often, not Chihuahuas. So that's probably why the one dog was taken.
I would agree with you if the defendant was shaken up and apologetic. Also if I was in the defendant's situation, the first think I would do is think the dog is hiding under the bed or in a corner somewhere. I would not automatically think the dog was taken. The dog is a smaller dog in an unknown environment where its owner just left it, it would be scared and unknown what is going on and hiding. My first thought would be to see where it the house it is, not that it was taken. Even after not finding the dog I would assume open window and the dog ran away and I would be searching the neighborhood for it.
@davidswick8571 I totally agree with you. I just wanted to point out that it does happen, but in this case, I really believe the defendant stole the dog or knows who did. The lack of remorse speaks so loud.
@bluebonbon22 I have a Chihuahua, and all I ever hear from people is how it's a very annoying breed and how no one ever wants them. Even my vet asked me was I sure I wanted to get one because people rehome them often and wanted to make sure I knew what I was getting into. And when I searched videos about them I found more awful videos than good. With that, I just assumed that's how many people feel about them. Having a Chihuahua isn't easy compared to my Goldendoodle, and I can now see why they are given up. I just can't do it.

Chihuahuas are not easy dogs to grab, that's why nobody stole that dog. The picture shown was a long haired Chihuahua
@@davidswick8571The defendants not apologetic because she thinks the plaintiff had someone come in and take the dog. If stuff like this has happened to her before with this family, who’s to say it wouldn’t happen again
