Alien bettas are bred between wild & domestic plakat variety. Yes, you can try breed them back with domestic betta. But note, if you are beginner alien betta breeding is hard path. Check this video for more alien betta insights.

From my experience, alien bettas have a lot of genetic issues.

Yes, domestic betta were originally breed from wild betta splendens that listed in this video.

I've seen lots of conflicting info on the size of pallifina, people saying between 6cms or 10cm etc and it's somewhat confusing

Betta pallifina can grow upto 4 inches which is around 10cm. I personally had a pair which around 3 inches. But what part is confusing to you?
