I will hand in my engineering degree at the next opportunity. Clearly not built for this anymore. I'll stick to making edits, sickk video Francis
lets get it
I think its super cool when you feature friends or other people who have been on the channel previously. You should be proud that you can set foot on nearly any Continent and have friends waiting. 👍
Would like to visit Sea Otter sometime. I've only been to Laguna Seca for the MotoGP as a motorcycle helmet vendor.
Nice to know I'm not the only person struggling to lift their bikes with one hand 😂
And i'm not mine is too light for this
it's just awkard to lift since the weight isn't distributed equally like a dumbell
Thank you Francis for using killos.
I have the RedShift suspension seat post on my gravel bike 👍 can certify it's qualities in dampening the ride for comfort
Everyone makes fun of me for shaking when I weight my bikes in videos. Happy to know I’m not the only one 😊
Ok caveman
All these fancy carbon gravel rigs are heavier than I thought. Makes me realise that my custom steel gravel bike is not that heavy after all at 9.3kg incl pedals, bottle cages and Garmin mount.
Carbon is not necessarily a light material, and the components are a lot heavier than they used to be.
Same thought here. My stainless genesis equilibrium from 2014 with 2 x chainset, full mudguards & pedals size large is about 9.5 kilos.
Loving the Matt Jones cameo! As a mountain biker to roadie convert I’ve followed him for years! Own a lot of his clothing range!
Oddly enough was at the uk cycle show yesterday chatting to his twin brother!
Nice one Francis. People feeling that their bikes were lighter then they thought. 👍🇮🇪
Then they thought what? Such suspense!
6:37 one of the most beautiful bikes I've seen in quite a while.
This was awesome!! Loved seeing all the riders 🎉
I’ve got no idea what my bike weighs and dgaf, but this is still the best stuff from sea otter I’ve seen so far. Thanks!
The upper body strength is this video is shocking, and I can relate 😂😂
I like seeing all the nice bikes with some spacers above the stem! I always get a little self conscious about my "chimneys" as someone once called them, but like to keep my options open.
No Rules. Ride however the fuck you want. And if anyone gives you hate. You don't need them in your life. Peace.
@@Jimmidoesstuff well said Jimmy, who gives a xxxx what anyone else thinks
We all do. That’s the problem. :)
But we can take some power back.
They prob raise the bar for everyday riding and training and then lower it for races
Position can change on a yearly basis what was comfortable 6months ago could be painful now. As I found out. As long as you’re not going to your eye out who’s cares.
Great video and i’m glad that my cannondale Topstone 0 isn’t as heavy after all😊. 10.5 kg for the xl framesize with 32 spoke heavy duty wheels and on top of that an 94kg rider….lol😊
Bonjour Charles !!! C'était très amusant de vous voir sur la vidéo de Francis. J'espère que vous avez passé un bon moment à Sea Otter.
The look on victim #1' s face when he realised his s-works was taking him for a ride 😂 #iamtraumatized
#thespecailizedcult
#justliketheapplecult
In his defense though, he did have a full saddle bag on it lol
Yeah. I reckon the ‘out of the box’ weight would be close to his 6.5-7kg estimate, without the saddle bag, head unit and mount, bottle cages and pedals, but with thinner tyres.
I have a Redshift stem on my gravel bike. Best addition ever!
A good bit of "weigh in Wednesday" at Sea Otter! Great to see Ian from Vielo at the expo ! ✋️
Lol, I'm living at the first floor. I'm pretty much aware if I'm one-handedly lifting my Canyon Ultimate CF SL 7 or my Giant Roam XR1 up the stairs, there is roughly 4-5 kg's between them 🙂
My steel gravel size L (carbon fork) weights 10.7kg on 40mm Cinturatos, 2 Fidlock bottle holders, Wahoo Bolt2, double-sided Shimano SPD/platform pedals, Knog rear light... I thought it was heavy, now I think it's fine. :D
Full alloy built like a tank low level gravel bike from Fondriest (Italian manufacturer). Alloy fork, sram apex groupset fulcrum racing 4 wheels, continental 40mm tubeless tires. 11 kg with pedals/bottles/cages/mounts. Not bad at all.
My gravel aluminium low end bike with dynamo hub, bottles, toola and bags is very heavy, 16kg! 😅. Love my bikes
Francis in NorCal. You should come to the Bay area for a ride. Blows SoCal away.
That was really entertaining, thanks for posting 👍
"Lets see what it says in freedom units" i love it haha
Your sure spend a lot of time in California. You must like it here!
Thanks Francis and the Sea Otter attendees , she wasn 't looking at bikes !
Very cool!
I’m keeping my eye out for Dustin Klein 👀
oooh DK!
@@Cade_Media @dustin give the viewers what they want!!!
Yay!!! Charles Ouimet!!! 🇨🇦🚴
2:31 Busted!! 😂😂😂
I hope you asked Matt Jones about Darkfest - insane!!
I was about to buy the new Diverge STR and empty the coffers........lost my nerve and decided to save over 7K by putting a Redshift seatpost and stem on my bike and they are magnificent!
I got the most accurate guess on the weight of bike #2 😇😇😇😇
Nice to finally meet you Francis 🤙
So happy to see you show up on this vid!!!🇨🇦🚴
Most people thought their bikes are lighter.
Meaning : modern bikes are DECEPTIVELY HEAVY.
Porky on the scales, zippy and rapid on the road!
If you say so...
Great video as always Francis.
Great idea. More please
these are always fun.
Very Cool! Great Vid!!
Ahhhhh, Lucy's accent still breaking my mind xD
Good fun🙂
Bikes are heavy now. This is progress.
I totally agree. Getting so heavy that soon they'll turn them into e-bikes
Daddy Vielo had me there for a second, with the 2kg 🤣
Woohoo Charles represent Montreal 🤙🏻
Funny how my Titanium Lynskey Pro GR w/ 44 tires is lighter than that S-Works Crux. For half the price. In all fairness he did have a saddle bag on tho. 😆
My Ibis Hakka weighed 8.2kg for like a third of the price 😅
Lucy’s well and truly gone native😀
Bleep bleep... hella fun bleep. Foxy woman for certain.
I see you’ve been modelling Adidas too Francis for End Clothing. Boom!
Every time I see suspension designs on gravel bikes I snicker… (I‘ve seen that stuff in the 90s)
Excellent!!
Hi Lucy !
You can take the lassie out of Surrey but you can’t take Surrey out the lassie 😂😂Lucy has went all yank 🇺🇸on us 🤣🚴🏻♂️🚴🏻♂️🏴🏴🏴
Ok I love you Francis but not having the pounds conversion is killing me lol
miss the jingle from your cross-country USA ride; bring it back for old times sake.
my man said "freedom Units"!!!! Im dead/
I'd love to see a price associated with these bike weigh-ins!
@Ryan Terence it does have something to do with what im going to spend my money on.
@@ryanterence471 Sea Otter is a trade show! 😅
Lots of people from the uk for the event taking place in California 🙈😂
Sea Otter is over 30 years old. Its a global event at this point.
HEY! thx for video!! What cam do you use for vlogs?)
Need to get some lbs on there 😮
Elliot representing
That girl at the end..bikes❤
My 2006 26" Ht mtb isn't doing too bad a 10.5kgs. Altho is slow with the small wheels.
Lucy getting a bit of an American twang ☺️
After like a year or two?🤣
Thanjs for using metric units. Not just for us, the Americans really need to learn that.
Think mine can compete now
Thanks for the Vid lovely bikes, but what is it about so many arrogant people in cycling
My 1996 Bontrager Race Lite with Marzocchi Z2 fork weighs less than a lot of these gravel bikes 😂
Tnx for showing this, shows that with all the carbon innovation bikes are still heavy
wonder how much the weight differs between frame sizes
Alternative title for video: Exposing Cyclist’s Upper Body Strength.
I have a woman friend who, to me, is a very strong cyclist. She rides a Motobecane which she acquired by trading it for a sofa!
Funny to see that everybody is estimating lower weights 😂😂
Surprised to see Lizzy there
Ahhh 🇺🇲 trying to figure kg. Fun video 👍
Great vid - no idea who Charles is - sorry mate.
vc let's get it! If you know you know.
man how do they ride those Veilos without pedals?
That is exactly why I bring my scale at events whenever I sense BS
Was there with a budget sub 8kg MTB but didn't catch u
Hey Francis - It looks like YT deleted Danni’s link (and messed up Subscribe 😅). Great video but pedals and cages next time please.
UCI regulations allow 6,8KG. Pretty bad that no one is this close. But gravel bikes and MTB are heavier in general.
Well, this puts bike weights mentioned on the internet in a different spot… so add like 10% to whatever is said 😅
Internet bike weights are always without mounts, cages, bags and pedals, so it’s makes sense
@@rob-c. Thats true. But also: all those things (pedals, cages etc) are put on by the owners themselves. Somehow they have forgotten that, and still think the bike’s weight less as factory weight. Which is funny. Weight is still a big thing in cycling, less = better.
Love the ti BlackHeart from potty mouth ;)
So do I.
You saved .03. Still better than nothing!
Funny how the guy with the Specialized thought his bike would be 1.5kg lighter than it actually was. Shows how strong the marketing is from the bike companies. You ain't getting sub 8kg with disc brakes unless you are spending insane amount of money.
charles bike was heavy. my god
Great video I couldn't help but noticed the guy with the mosaic and his 'freedom' units... well, you can't expect much to be honest.
"My bike's really light" errrrr no it's not.
Accidentally showing that nice steel is lighter than heavy duty carbon.
Francis - please test the redshift stuff for us....
Coming right up!
The redshift stem is very good
@@MrKevHunter I used it recently on the king alfreds way. Really good.
vcletsgetit cameo
Charles is from Canada right?
Is 8.7kg aero bike considered heavy?
WHY ARE ROAD BIKES SO HEAVY NOW???
"Yeah, I'm a good 7.5 inches."
"4 inches."
"That's not bad. It's cold outside."
Maybe I need to start a yt channel to teach how to build a light bike.
All the faces of disappointment are hilarious. People get so defensive over bike weight.
well, overall, gravel bikes are quite heavy, and MTB quite light ! where's the problem :)
Weighing without pedals = no, sorry doesn't count. Ain't a functional bike without pedals.
Balance bike.
I get the weighing without pedals it kinda levels the playing field because we all have our preferred pedal type and brand.
the first guy trying to blame 2 full kg with tire sealant was such a hilarious thing to watch
People obsessed with weight is such a lame gang
Hellooo
looks like link to Dannis channel is broken?
