I just ordered a repair kit after my phone got run over and the LCD got utterly destroyed. I am oddly excited to try getting my poor phone fixed up! Your slow, methodical pace here is very helpful and I appreciate that you don’t assume any base-level knowledge. I’ve repaired my Switch controller but nothing as expensive/complicated as an iPhone screen. It can’t be worse than a crushed, completely non-responsive screen 😅

The re and re went perfect, and I just wanted to say thanks. I certainly don’t mind watching “ longer “ videos when it’s informative. Not just the do’s, but the do nots. Too many guys on UA-cam spending half of the video reminding me to “ like “ and “ subscribe “. Unless you’re new to our planet, we all know to like and subscribe. What I do now is immediately stop watching or listening, the second someone in the video feels like I need to be reminded, I hit the back button, hit the “ dislike 👎” and never watch any of their UA-cam videos again, even if the video was going pretty good.

Did you buy them wholesale in bulk or did you have something set up with a cell phone shop to where someone would notify you you would fix their screen but you would go pick the screen up from somewhere and then put it on the cell phone?
When I first started off, I kept a low inventory and used a local parts supplier that was a 10 min drive away. If I ran out of something I would drive over there really quick and come back. I was never an employee at another shop. Started my own business from the get go.

@@RichardMeza yeah I know , but during the screen repair the plastic thing came together with the sensors , mic and speaker when I have unscrew the screws 🤣 , but the mic stayed glued to the plastic so I found it easier to just replace the plastic thing too to not have to try to unglue the mic .

Hey Richard. Thanks so much for what you are doing brother. Very inspiring. As far as the glue that was there originally, I am assuming there is no need to worry about that when putting the phone back together. Also have you ever had an issue where a button no longer works after your repair? I read some place where that happens with the home button on one of the newer iPhones.
All the newer iPhones such as X, XR, XS, XS Max dont have home buttons anymore. If you mean the iPhone 7 and 8 home buttons not working anymore, that person probably damaged the button while transferring it to the new screen.

Richard Meza just to clarify.. let’s say you have 2 XRs both oem .. you break the screen on one.. can you use the other XR as a donor .. swap in the screen with ID sensor together and not deal with swapping out the Face ID sensors (keeping the original sensors to original screens) will the XR that needs repair Face ID function w the donor screen bc now its a different Face ID sensor?.. yes aware of True Tone programming.. but would like to clarify Face ID.
The seal that comes with the screen doesn't doesn't make the phone water resistant. So I dont bother with it. Its not the same adhesive thats originally used with the phone.
No. Face ID is not part of the screen. Face ID is a sensor inside the phone separate from the screen. Face ID in rare occasions can stop functioning by someone breaking their phone hard. By making the sensor stop working because their phone got run over or someone threw their phone outside.

great video Richard. i noticed on your videos that you don't put new adhesive on before you put the front on. do you normally have too or can the old adhesive be reused with no water proofing problems?
@@mo2k2 I just close up the phone and put the bottom screws back. The waterproofing is not that big of a deal. People already know the phone isnt waterproof anymore after any repair. If someone asks, not having a shattered screen or phone doesnt charge anymore. Maybe screen doesnt work anymore. The repair is way more important then having the option of taking underwater pictures. You can buy a waterproof life proof case for that if you really need it.
The iPhone XR doesn't use an OLED screen. It uses an LCD screen. Same thing with the iPhone 11. Those are the cheaper priced models, so they didn't use Oled screens with those models.

@@zainqadir8267 OK. I think I know what you mean. The little metal bendy thing that fit into the top right of that other shield. That is held in place with a different tip of screw driver. If it bent and broke. Just leave it. Don't bother with it and leave it out.

I dont do housing swaps in my store. If the back glass breaks, I have a laser machine that removes the back glass and I can reglue a new back glass on.
Hey rich ... have you ever encountered the XR being stuck on apple after replacing the screen ? But also working once you unplug the front camera flex ?
@@HolisticNigga No. But I have had people come in that its stuck on Apple logo. The Earspeaker flex ends up being the problem. You can replace it but Face ID doesn't work. Customers would rather have a working phone then a phone that doesn't work.
I've also had someone in my group that said the connection was bent a little. Like on the actual flex cable, they flexed the metal connection peice on the flex cable to give it a better connection to connect into the motherboard and they said that worked.
Richard M! Great Video Brother! Glad I found your channel... I've been repairing smartphones for over 10 years now, since the first iPhone came out. I learned from channels like yours. I've watched many, many vids and channels over the years. As you say, many are cut up into just showing each step and they neglect some very PERTINENT information in doing so. You have taken the time (hence the longer video = A+) to explain the do's and as you state correctly, more importantly the "Don'ts". The worst enemy when repairing phones, is not taking your time. Love your instructions for others and encouragement that they also can repair their own phone. Although we wouldn’t have a side hustle if everyone did. The glass cost that much/little. If you see the S8 video I show you how. I'm not replacing the display screen. The original Amoled screen is used. Just replacing cracked glass.

You have to swap the ear speaker cable too. If you dont, your face ID won't work. The original ear speaker cable is linked/serialized to the phone.

If you don't program the old screen serial number to the new screen you will lose true tone on the iPhone so you will need a true tone programmer

The iPhone XR is not an Oled phone. It's an LCD phone.
The plastic thing that holds the sensors and front cameras needs some glue or tape when transfering to a new screen ?
The new screen should already come with a new plastic piece to fit those sensors in.

1 screw missing is not a big deal. To get true tone, you have to transfer it with a electronic device that's meant for transferring true tone.

If you are doing a screen replacement. There is no need to take the sim tray out. The screen swings out away from the phone when you open it up.

is the ear pierce and camera paired to the phone like home buttons ?
The ear speaker is not but I believe Face ID is. I think that's what you mean?

Nice video buddy, but why didnt you put a new adhesive seal on the phone?

what about the seal after you open the phone, will it need to be replaced. or will it be fine?
You can replace it if you want but it doesn't make it wateeproof anymore since those aftermarket tape is just tape. The original is a foamy adhesive.

You cant duplicate the factory waterproofing gunky thick adhesive. You can buy that tape gasket on Ebay but it doesnt do anything.

Are your 10r LCD or OLED replacements? I am having a hard time finding OLEDS for the 10r on Amazon.
The iPhone XR doesn't use an OLED screen. It uses an LCD screen. Same thing with the iPhone 11. Those are the cheaper priced models, so they didn't use Oled screens with those models.

@@zainqadir8267 OK. I think I know what you mean. The little metal bendy thing that fit into the top right of that other shield. That is held in place with a different tip of screw driver. If it bent and broke. Just leave it. Don't bother with it and leave it out.

Why didn't you show the programming of the screen?
Can you do a housing swap with the XR
I dont do housing swaps in my store. If the back glass breaks, I have a laser machine that removes the back glass and I can reglue a new back glass on.

Hey rich ... have you ever encountered the XR being stuck on apple after replacing the screen ? But also working once you unplug the front camera flex ?
@@HolisticNigga No. But I have had people come in that its stuck on Apple logo. The Earspeaker flex ends up being the problem. You can replace it but Face ID doesn't work. Customers would rather have a working phone then a phone that doesn't work.
I've also had someone in my group that said the connection was bent a little. Like on the actual flex cable, they flexed the metal connection peice on the flex cable to give it a better connection to connect into the motherboard and they said that worked.

Richard M! Great Video Brother! Glad I found your channel... I've been repairing smartphones for over 10 years now, since the first iPhone came out. I learned from channels like yours. I've watched many, many vids and channels over the years. As you say, many are cut up into just showing each step and they neglect some very PERTINENT information in doing so. You have taken the time (hence the longer video = A+) to explain the do's and as you state correctly, more importantly the "Don'ts". The worst enemy when repairing phones, is not taking your time. Love your instructions for others and encouragement that they also can repair their own phone. Although we wouldn’t have a side hustle if everyone did. LOL ;o) Anyway, Congrats on your successful storefront and repair business. Keep the videos coming! I’ll be watching your other videos as I’m looking to change jobs (and possibly take a pay cut) and relocate. why do some guides just shatter the back fully without any disassembly and others like yours almost fully disassemble

The glass cost that much/little. If you see the S8 video I show you how. I'm not replacing the display screen. The original Amoled screen is used. Just replacing cracked glass.
