Toyota has a customer service phone number and website you can contact to voice a complaint. I did this regarding a Camry engine belt tensioner that broke while the dealer was replacing the fan belt. The dealer told me, sorry, you gotta' pay for a new tensioner. I called Toyota to complain that it was the dealer's fault, not mine. Toyota agreed and reimbursed me for the cost of the new tensioner. This is the first time I disagree with Scotty, after 100s of videos. Car warrantees all give so many years and so many miles. If you are offside you're offside. I see nothing wrong. However, Scotty makes the point that the what broke is an inherent problem and Toyota knows it. But still.
I had the same thing happen with a new Camry. I drove a lot at the time and had put 95K on the car in about 2 years. I forget now what the issue was, but something failed/broke that cost me $1200 to repair. And it also had a squeak near the back window since new that they could never fix. So after the $1200 repair on a 2-year old car, I traded for... a Chrysler. I drove that Chrysler for 175K and never had any issues whatsoever. I traded it for another Chrysler and had no issues for 150K miles. I only left Chrysler (for Honda) because they stopped making a model that suited my needs.
When radial tires first came out they were excellent, in the 70's, 80's and 90's we never needed snows, and I live in snow country. After using bias ply snow tires for years these new radials were amazing. In my opinion the advent of stiff, wide, low profile tires has made the newer all season tires useless in snow and ice. Just my opinion based on lots of driving experience.
Put sandbangs in the rear seats and the trunk (I put 2 - 70 lb sandbags behind the front seats, and 2 more in the trunk over the rear axle. Doesn't seem to impact fuel economy that much (lost maybe 2mpg). I found this to be as effective in most cases as having winter tires (and I don't have to pay for an extra set of tires). I like in the mid-west by the way so we get plenty of snow and ice. The only ONE place I sometimes have issues is when ice builds up at the end of my driveway but I don't think snow tires would help that anyway. Plus I'm still running the OEM tires on mine (although they will be replaced with better ones this coming December).
Don't listen to Scotty, buy 4 winters and you won't regret it. Or you can buy two like Scotty said and if you have an accident send the bill to Scotty.

My 2012 Prius got the inverter replaced in 2022 and the brake booster replaced in 2023. Thankfully covered by 2 warranty enhancement programs, would have been like $7k in repairs for those. Toyota declined to pay for the repair of my sisters 2018 Prius that had the leaking heat exchanger. The dealer wanted to replace the head gasket or the entire engine. There was a warranty TSB for the heat exchanger but it stopped at 80k miles, she was 7k over.
Hi Scotty, my 019 camry with only 82k has this exact same problem. The car is almost undriveable with this steering problem. The real slap in the face is that if this was an 018 model it would have an extended warranty. But not me. I contacted toyota canada and they were very sympathetic but of little help. Toyota told me to get it fixed at the stealership, same price about $1000 can, (and that is before our 100% sales tax) in order to continue the ticket. So hopefully you can help me as well. Fingers crossed. Stealership also said they also have this problem from time to time with the tacomas. Anyway there goes our much needed vacation trip this march break. Thanks for this video at least now I don't feel so alone. PEI, canada
Cant blame the dealer, the warranty is the warranty, and he's not covered anymore. Known issues are never fixed for free outside of warranty, by any dealer that i know of, regardless of manufacture.
3 years or 36k miles, whichever comes first, that's the way the warranties work Scottie, i have a 2011 Fusion that the electric power steering doesn't work, but there is a recall, but... my car was made 6 days before the recall, same part, same plant, but no recall for my car, i've been waiting to hear back from NHTSA for about 8 months now
TLDR: If you drive a car a lot, you can blow past the warranty mileage limit before reaching the warranty calendar limit. If you do that, the dealer / maker may not replace affected parts under the warranty.
@@noodleshop7468 actually there’s no greed to it. You went over the factory warranty when you sign the contract for the vehicle now you have to live with it. Everything else I have to pay for out of my pocket my Toyota Camry I just bought has no warranty at all. I get a 90 day warranty from the dealership that is about it, like I said if he needed extra warranty for the job that he does should’ve bought extra warranty
I've got two Toyotas, a 2007 Highlander and this car. Bought the Camry hybrid in 2022 with 34,000 miles on it. Absolutely love it, a blast to drive and I'm averaging 49 MPG. My Highlander has been as reliable as a hammer and has just over 380,000 miles on it. I bought it in 2007 with 11,000 miles on it. She vibrates like a Maytag compared to the hybrid but that's it. Love Toyotas build quality and am staying with the brand for now.
The *"BACK IN THE DAY"* Toyota Dealerships I remember, weren't like the *"CHEAP CHEAP"* Toyota Dealerships of today. Overall it makes Toyota itself look bad. It's sad, really.😲😲😲
You are so right our gasoline and diesel are tax to death! The diesel is generally speaking anywhere between 30 and $.50 a litre more expensive than gasoline regular. As always I enjoy your videos. And hello from Toronto 🇨🇦
I had a 2008 Prius that failed a small electronic part ($350 plus rental) at about 36+++ miles and just over three years. The local dealer (where I didn't buy it) either failed to see if Toyota would pay for it or just screwed me.
I’ve owned 17 Toyotas over the years and I have discovered that they are becoming more and more cheaply made. I’m looking at other manufacturers to see if that are making better vehicles. Though I suspect everything is going to the junk-yard dogs.
Thank you Scotty. Buying steel wheels from junk yards to mount snow tires is an excellent idea. Been doing this for forty years. Every time the wheels are delivered the manufactures papers are still attached. The yard buys the wheels directly from the factory, when the manufacturer overproduces and sells them in lots. Brand new wheels for junk yard price.
2018 Honda HRV - Continuously variable transmission dead at less than 89,000. Honda paid 75%. Folks, if you have a CVT and the belt breaks, you replace the ENTIRE transmission. You should keep at least $5,000 set aside just in case your manufacturer won't pay anything. Honda paid because someone at the dealership worked hard for us. Do you think your dealership cares that much for you? Old fashioned transmissions are the way to go. Mazda - old fashioned transmissions. Subaru - all CVT. Toyota RAV 4 - some CVT. Honda - HRV, CRV and Civic all CVT. Ask very specific questions.
C'mon Scotty, I just bought a new 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid and so far I have put about 3000 miles on it. It's quiet, surprisingly economical (averages about 38 mpg), has fast acceleration, and has amazing electronics. If you were grousing about new Ford Trucks, Kia and Hyundai, I would agree with you. This guy's Toyota Camry is a beast but the franchise dealerships can be thieves. The problem is not the Toyota Camry, it's the crooked franchise dealership. Report them to Toyota
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I have 2018 Toyota Camry four-cylinder engine .2.5 Liter with 105,000 MI. Just starting overheating. I want to replace the thermostat and housing unit and the water pump. Other than the toyota dealer parts department. Do you have any recommendation where I can order those parts?
My 2012 Camry belt tensioner failed after a 2 years, but I fixed it myself since it was over warranty and no help from dealership.otherwise, car drove like new for another 3 years before having to be retired from accident. The parts for these cars are not as good as Civic that’s also built in Ontario
I HEARD a great tip for recognizing whether a used car has been in a flood or submerged in water. Pull out the seat belt all the way out till you reach the very end and check for mold, dirt, discoloration from water. I thought that this is very doable and easy, and a quick indication for hidden water damage.
The odometer reading exceeded the warranty mileage of Toyota. It doesn’t matter if the car is new. Toyota base it on years or mileage whichever comes first.

Toyota declined to pay for the repair of my sisters 2018 Prius that had the leaking heat exchanger. The dealer wanted to replace the head gasket or the entire engine. There was a warranty TSB for the heat exchanger but it stopped at 80k miles, she was 7k over.
Is this an SE Hybrid with a black roof wrap?
PEI, canada
I live in New York Toyota gave me 150K miles or 7 years mines went out around 50K
@@andersonrodriguez8258 50k miles, roughly the same as the 82k kilometers on mine. 82 x 6 divide by 10. Thanks for the reply.
There is a customer support program for the intermediate shaft.
Cant blame the dealer, the warranty is the warranty, and he's not covered anymore. Known issues are never fixed for free outside of warranty, by any dealer that i know of, regardless of manufacture.
that woman at the gas station tho.. man I love when you blend in these funny little pictures. greetings from germany
They can reverse the charge, they just won't.
@icosthop9998 it's corporate greed they can they just don't want to they'll just throw out the excuses when they do
@@noodleshop7468 actually there’s no greed to it. You went over the factory warranty when you sign the contract for the vehicle now you have to live with it. If you needed extra care for your vehicle, you have to pay for it. Nothing is free in this world that’s just like my sonata it’s three years old and I have 87000 miles on it. My factory warranty is up. I have a limited powertrain warranty that only covers motor and transmission. Everything else I have to pay for out of my pocket my Toyota Camry I just bought has no warranty at all. I get a 90 day warranty from the dealership that is about it, like I said if he needed extra warranty for the job that he does should’ve bought extra warranty
Scotty just described why I only use cash in cafe's and restaurants
Thanks for dropping this after i bought a Rav, its a 2020 too, good thing i bought an extended warranty i guess.
130k miles in 2 years is crazy!
Warranty plainly state 5 yrs OR 60,000 miles. Just because you drive the wheels off it doesn't change the warranty.
The same thing happened to my 2020 Toyota Camry hybrid... after 162,000 miles... 4 years...
yes but in the US they have a TSB on replacing it regardless of miles.. i hope you got it fixed cause toyota canada declined my request
Mazda gives an unlimited kms warranty in Canada on all their cars.
The *"BACK IN THE DAY"* Toyota Dealerships I remember, weren't like the *"CHEAP CHEAP"* Toyota Dealerships of today. Overall it makes Toyota itself look bad. It's sad, really.😲😲😲
Come on Scotty, putting that kind of miles per year increases the cost of so many wear items.... matters not if its 2 yrs or 10.
I can't complain about Toyota. They replaced a $600 computer on my 2011 Avalon charging only labor!!!
Scotty,
Your messaging is perfect.
I never go to Starbucks. That deal with the massive overcharge clinches it.
Scotty I have a 2021 highlander XLE, I did change the wheel bearings at 7000miles
Talked to a taxi driver the other day owns a fleet of camerys he said you can’t go wrong most pushing half mil Ks no problems.
Hey Scotty, What do you think about the new Toyota Crown? I would love to see you review the car if you get your hands on one.
Simply exceeded the mileage allowance... Next probkem.
I can't agree with you on this one. Warranty is warranty. If it's two years or x amount of miles than you knew that when you bought it
In NYC, most cabbies/ride share drivers drive a Camry or Highlander.
It takes two months for the bank to reverse the charges. A check is faster if it doesn't bounce.
Love Scotty’s knowledge
Like suggesting you put snow tires only up front?... THAT kind of "knowledge?"
I had a 2018 Camry Le, and the air compressor went out! I have no clue how that could have even happened?! It was going to be 1800 to replace it!
I’ve owned 17 Toyotas over the years and I have discovered that they are becoming more and more cheaply made. I’m looking at other manufacturers to see if that are making better vehicles. Though I suspect everything is going to the junk-yard dogs.
denied my claim for a cv shaft under warranty too. cost me 600 bucks. they said it was aftermarket with 30k on it. it was not. i still buy toyota
Scotty, what do you think of the Toyota Venza?
Thanks...
That mileage in such sort time, lifestyle choices eh?
Thank you Scotty. Buying steel wheels from junk yards to mount snow tires is an excellent idea. Been doing this for forty years. Every time the wheels are delivered the manufactures papers are still attached. The yard buys the wheels directly from the factory, when the manufacturer overproduces and sells them in lots. Brand new wheels for junk yard price.
In Quebec you need all 4 winter tires by law can't even use all season
Thanks Scotty.
I have a 2017 camry le and am thinking of buying a 2018 se. Are both engines the 2AR FE ? Heard that engine is best/bulletproof.
1:16 Bro has 6 air fresheners installed 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
No Toyota should not refund his money, every car warranty works that way!!
I am having a hesitant engine in a RAV4 2022, 10000 miles 😮. Two visits to dealers. Toyota keep saying that I have nothing to worry about.
Scotty, what happened to the Chevrolet dealership picture when you say junkyard? 😂
The warranty says X years, X miles. Why is the a difficult concept?
He was not under warranty, period.
Can I ask where he fixed it for $950? I also live in Ontario and have a Sienna suspecting it doing the same
That is why I use cash for small items... & don't feel bad, I often forget to check the order & I get yelled at too...
I HEARD a great tip for recognizing whether a used car has been in a flood or submerged in water. Pull out the seat belt all the way out till you reach the very end and check for mold, dirt, discoloration from water. I thought that this is very doable and easy, and a quick indication for hidden water damage.
4 winter tires for me in Nova Scotia.
The odometer reading exceeded the warranty mileage of Toyota. It doesn’t matter if the car is new. Toyota base it on years or mileage whichever comes first.
137k miles on a 2020 Camry and it's the beginning of 2023. Poor Uber and Lyft drivers destroying their cars.
If you choose the manual transmission, will have less maintenance in the long run. And will be reliable.
Yes but it won't be this Camry.
Anybody notice the woman filming Scotty from the SUV at 6:57?😂
