Martha Argerich has been one of world's greatest pianists for several decades. The pride of Argentina.
Can't believe my ears and eyes. She is magnificent!!!
I just saw her performing this in De Doelen last Thursday and she was absolutely on fire that evening and took the final at a breakneck tempo. I have never witnessed an audience screaming like that after a concert!
And what a relief to finally not be the only one who's screaming)) The audience was absolutely as one that evening. Unbelievable and unforgettable.
Martha is truly the best living pianist, with no doubts!
She is not just the best living pianist, she is the best living musician!!!!!
The trumpet has to be flawless and Nakariakov was MASTERFUL on a gorgeous antique that is like a Stradivarius of trumpets. She was very pleased with Sergei as you can see at the end.

qué elevado es que esta gigante de la música del mundo sean tan aplaudida y querida en su país. Y se la reconozca tanto entre su propia gente. Martha es muy querida en el mundo y adorada en Argentina
Es muy selecto el grupo de gente que gusta de este tipo de música aquí en Argentina. La población en general escucha basura. Hoy en el vivo del teatro Colón, había solo 270 personas conectadas máximo. Una vergüenza para un país de 47M de personas.

No acuerdo contigo. Durante las transmisiones del Festival Argerich- al menos por youtube-he podido observar miles de conectados. Otra cosa es que las personas se animen a compartir opinión. De norte a sur y de este a oeste del país, tenemos historia de escuelas de música- de coros-municipales-provinciales y nacionales- Luego, la inversión y difusión le cabe a otras responsabilidades@@Ensobrado

El segundo movimiento es tan bellamente sombrío... Sobre Martha qué se puede decir que no se haya dicho, siempre responde con la maravilla que escapan de sus manos.
This is such a fun work, engaging, dramatic and poetic...very cinematic, without ever sounding heavy. Shostakovich had been moonlighting as a live pianist at silent film theatres during the 1920s and we can certainly hear some of that kind of playing as an inspiration here, especially in the opening and the finale. - The finale also pays homage to Haydn's famous trumpet concerto, the soloist themes are kinda similar.

Think of it, Argerich is either more or nearly twice of their ages, physically and mentally, she is still as sharp as the younger generations. That's why she is incredible !!!

Who else here generally loves Shostakovitsh but HATES this ferkin concerto? It's like a big bowl of jello with a bellowing trumpet drowned somewhere in the depth of it while a player piano floating on the surface endlessly noodles Hanon 2.0...
(Incidentally the violins are particularly thin and screechy in the vapid second movement - but that's just this particular (under)performance...)
