The 415 requires a metallic substrate so will not work on wood, brick or plasterboard.

The Elcometer 415 will only work on metallic substrates, however the Elcometer 121/4 Paint Inspection Gauge can measure paint thickness on composite substrates.
There may be additional methods available depending on your specific application.
