Ash T Ash T may i assume by "other events" you meant the university festival performances? allow me to make a couple of things clear: 1. the sound systems at those universities were only from low to average quality, and the mics obviously couldn't be compared to the special wireless in-ear mics that YG bought for them. 2. university festivals are clearly different from award shows or music shows, so they performed differently (more playful, less serious). 3. if you've watched their performances on award shows (MMA, Gayo Daejun, SMA.....) you would see they sounded just as perfect and even better than on music shows (and of course those perfs were all live).

Tbh i'm thankful to YG that ikon promoted more in japan and china last year cos they already build solid fandom there (in japan, ikon is really really famous. They're even mentioned in mangas and animes. And if that's not awesome to ya'll, idk what is lol) and performing in domes is a fucking big achievement. And apparently j-fans and c-fans are more loyal that k-fans. Maybe if they promoted bubblegum and cutesy music they will top the music charts.
There are other groups that are really popular in China and Japan only. Because it's a very loyal and rich markets. But losing popularity in Korea and worldwide is bad. I can name you few bands who went down like this.

1. the sound systems at those universities were only from low to average quality, and the mics obviously couldn't be compared to the special wireless in-ear mics that YG bought for them.
2. university festivals are clearly different from award shows or music shows, so they performed differently (more playful, less serious).
3. if you've watched their performances on award shows (MMA, Gayo Daejun, SMA.....) you would see they sounded just as perfect and even better than on music shows (and of course those perfs were all live).

There are so many groups who suffered loss of popularity and recognition because of excessive promotions in Japan and none in Korea. 2PM, Kara, FT Island, Crayon Pop and many more suffered from this! Hopefully YG realises this and promotes Ikon heavily in Korea this year!
