I’ve commented once and I’ll comment again. This ost specifically is immensely peaceful. When I was worked up as a child I’d get Jak to the Cannon Tower, overlook the water and just sit and listen to the ost. It would calm my anxiety on the spot and just wash away any stress I had. Now a 27 year old man, I’m coming back again. After a weightlifting accident I ended up with costochondritis (inflammation of the chest wall). I’ve had two EKG’s, multiple blood work and chest X rays. All came back normal. The thing is, is costochondritis feels like a cardiac issue, it mimics a heart attack, all the way to shortness of breath, left arm pain to chest pressure. Which I’m turn raises anxiety. I’ve had the worst anxiety/heart palpitations this year and manic episodes because of it. This is helping me calm down. I’ve seen All Time Low, Mayday Parade, Games We Play, Ghost and Amon Amarth live this year and made some new amazing friends. I have a fiancé im celebrating 10 years with this December, I got to play the Resident Evil 4 remake and I’m back slowly weightlifting after 9 months of resting, medicating and making memories. Life has its grim up and downs. It has its scary roadblocks. So do rollercoasters. I will forever come back to this to breathe and calm down. I hope everyone has had a good 2023! Much love!
If only they made a Sony theme park.. and a Jak and Daxter resort, with Sandover Village being hotel rooms, and Sentinel beach... man. I'd skip Disney any day
Jesus Christ, where have the times gone....? i remember going to my dads house when i was around 6 years old, playing this on his ps2. and here i am, thirteen years later. Having to worry about things like getting a house, a job.... I miss being a kid.
I always try to leave some kind of tie to my childhood so I can briefly escape the "joys" of adulthood. Things sure felt a lot more easier when someone else was paying for the necessities (food, maintenance bills, rent, the occasional repairs, etc etc), but yeah, this game was definitely a big part of my younger years. Going by my calculations I think I first played this game around the same time you did (I would've been about 11 or 10 years old, I can't remember the exact year I first played it), I rented it from a local movie rental store that also did games, under the recommendation of the lady who was running the till at the time. I remember not feeling sure if the game would be for me or not, but I gradually found myself getting really into it. And then I started growing up with every game Naughty Dog released, it's weird how I was always just about the right age to play every game that Naughty Dog released, right up to The Last of Us. But that's me getting sidetracked.
I’m 22 now but when I turned 18 and got my first proper job I was really unhappy, I was so depressed in the job and always just wished I could go home. I would listen to this song and get fucking emotional as shit just wishing I was a free little kid again playing this game in my front room whilst my mum was cleaning the house around me on the phone. Just goes to show we aren’t getting any younger and before we know it our lives will pass and the next lot will take our places. Suppose we should just enjoy every period of time whilst we’re in the moment
when i was a kid, i thought sentinel beach was scary. now that i'm older i end up not wanting to ever leave the area. it's so beautiful and serene despite getting shot at with a cannon. it makes me feel like i'm walking around in a painting.
I liked sentinel beach as a kid but was TERRIFIED of Misty Island, so I'd make my siblings play it for me. Somehow that was worse than any other area despite being pretty easy compared to the rest of the game.
For those of you who want to look up the guy who made this music; his name is Josh Mancell and he also made the music for Crash 1,2,3 and CTR, the first 3 Jak games, and the instrumental part of the theme to Clifford The Big Red Dog.
Though my love for the series comes from Jak 3, which is my favourite game, or in fact product of media in existence, this game holds a very special nostalgia and second place in my heart. The music is just special. Really stays with you for years.
Christmas 2001, I was 13 years old. My dad got my brothers and I a PS2, and the first games we got for it was Tekken Tag Tournament, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex, and this. Playing this on surround sound was a whole different experience.
man sentinel beach's music gave such a warm feeling. i would just stand on top of the high platform that had a scoutfly near the second windmill and just enjoy for hours with a nice view of the beach. least favorite lurkers are the crabs and most favorite are the sandworms which i used to call land-eels then later renamed as scaler, another classic platformer i used to jam the heck out of back on the ps2.
Fast forward to today, now they have collector’s editions for all 4 Jak and Daxter games for the PS4. Which, unfortunately, are very limited and are now all sold out. Luckily, anyone willing to pay outrageous prices for these games are more than welcome to. If you’re a collector, like me, and can afford it then you won’t mind one bit! To be honest, these are one of the most well made collector’s editions I’ve ever seen in my opinion.
I remember as a kid I tried to use the green eco to turn the lurker dogs into regular dogs, always had a soft spot for them, so I could never kill them
Here after TLoU2 story got leaked, here to relive my childhood and the glory days of naughty dog, its sad knowing the publishers i respect so much despite me not liking the first TloU gameplay wise are turning into such a shit fest. The soundtrack in this game just reminds me of simpler times, i remember just sitting back and watching in awe how the game would have a dynamic day and night cycle, the way the environments would seem alive and how you can see places you've been to previously, i remember I'd go to the final boss area as a kid and I'd look over to the whole horizon and see everywhere ive been to before and man i just wish i could feel those moments again. jak 2 was kinda like that, if i wasn't raging as a kid because of the difficulty spikes in levels i was in haven palace looking at the grey city or mountains or in haven forest jetboarding and was an equal impact on me as a kid, i was born when the first game came out so really i was still very young when experiencing these games, jak 2 was a living nightmare for me as a kid lmao i wouldn't at least beat it until i was a little older maybe in the first grade Jak 3 oh man i love jak 3 but it has some equal moments of frustration albeit toned down and definitely beatable for my age, and it wasn't as atmospheric like the first two games, i remember maybe hanging out in the forest for awhile since that was really the only safe quiet place in that battlefield of a game. I guess it was a transitional phase for naughty dog, i love uncharted but i can't say how i really feel about TloU, it's story was really strong, but it paved the way to a lot of modern gaming tropes i see a lot in Triple A titles, and with how absolutely dogshit TLoU2 sounds i fear that it can damage the gaming industry for years to come i just can't exactly explain why
If they ever made a remake of this game with improved PS5 graphics. It would just be straight-up scenery porn, with the beach and the sunset over the horizon.

Sentinel beach...one of the most beautiful areas in the entire game...I can almost hear the lurker cannon...
If only they made a Sony theme park.. and a Jak and Daxter resort, with Sandover Village being hotel rooms, and Sentinel beach... man. I'd skip Disney any day
Screw Disney Castle, I want to visit Cortex Castle.
Novalis or Kerwan from Ratchet and Clank.
BigPortal oh my god metropolis would be legit
This. Also, a Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network World as well. I always preferred those franchises over Disney.
And have a drink at the Naughty Ottsel before the night is trough.

A much simpler time it was back then. This music always takes me back.

You ought to change that profile picture of yours. I hate Kazuto Kirigaya from SAO.

Dakota Anderson lol
YAAAAAAAAHH HAHAHAHA HOHOHO
oh the memories, who else still has this game on Playstation 2 and still plays it every now and then? I do
Came back to this years later and its still the greatest soundtrack of all time.. Jak and Daxter for the win♥♥♥
Ah, the nostalgia is hurting my feels. I love this beach!
when i was a kid, i thought sentinel beach was scary. now that i'm older i end up not wanting to ever leave the area.
it's so beautiful and serene despite getting shot at with a cannon. it makes me feel like i'm walking around in a painting.
Well you can always stop the cannon
To be fair any beach is a scary place to relax when you've got someone firing a cannon at you constantly.
I liked sentinel beach as a kid but was TERRIFIED of Misty Island, so I'd make my siblings play it for me. Somehow that was worse than any other area despite being pretty easy compared to the rest of the game.
@@pyromaniacalmagpie3198 spider cave though
I listen to this on the beach from time to time. It's just perfect
Probably the most beautiful track in the game
19 years ago my dad bought me this game as a Christmas present when I was 7. I am 26 years old now and the memories are still awesome!
My dad bought this for me 19 years ago as well when I was 6 and now I’m 25. The first video game I’ve ever played and I still enjoy it.
This game has a criminally underrated soundtrack
"Ahh! I ain't ya ma! Ya see any feathers here!?!"

Jak 1 just feels like a tribute of the Crash franchise ;)
Like this is what Wrath Of Cortex, Twinsanity and Its About Time should had been.
Holy shit, I never knew this before! Thank you!
Best games graphics and ost
1995 - 2009 😢
I love old graphics and ost more than now
So nostalgic, I love this game.

best platformer
When you walked out of the village and onto the beach and the music changes. All the feels.
Man this is so relaxing, i remember playing this level over and over jus 2 hear the music, lol!
I remember how I got a power cell from that bird.
I used a cannon, and killed the bird.
You can do that? Aren't you supposed to catch it?
My mind was blown when I saw it.
The Dev Team thinks of everything
Welp. I know what I'm doing tonight.

I remeber hearing this theme from Ratchet and Clank 2 when Rachet plays videogames like: Jak 1 & 2, Sly cooper, and of course Rachet and Clank.
I miss that easter egg; I think they removed it in the HD remaster and replaced it with footage from the R&C 1 & 2
Nostalgia to the max!
This song cures anxiety.
I think this theme and the Haven forest Jet board theme from Jak 2 are the two best tracks within the entire Jak and Daxter franchise.
Ahooohgaa
Ahooohgaa
Dive for those precursors jak
The song of memories. I’ll miss my childhood...
MAN! Nostalgia hits hard! SO MANY FEELS :D
another perfect soundtrack :')
Mi saga favorita de todos los tiempos :')💖
I love Jak & Daxter, I got a tattoo of a precursor orb on my forearm
Whoever disliked is jealous that they got hit by those bag bombs

Good boy lol ...
"Hey! That pelican just snagged our Power Cell! Let's go kick some big bird BUTT!!!"
Forbidden Jungle first, then Sentinel Beach. Saves time.
sentinel beach aka where i spent all of my time in the game xD
I don't think a soundtrack can get any more "Ps2" then this.

I did the humane thing and just retrieved the power cell before he did.
Ya, I just shot the bird with the cannon, not many people seem to know this.

I love Jak and Daxter, Sly and Ratchet. Anyone have any recommendations for other good 3D platformers?
(Spyro, Crash, Mario are on the list)
Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, you can get it on the ps2 or the HD version for ps4/ps5, Xbox, Switch and PC
Super Mario 64, Bomberman Hero, Ape Escape, Kirby 64, Klonoa 2, Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy, Vexx and Crash Twinsanity.
