They're actually rare the sgs203 in the UK, mostly replaced by LED, and the example used in my county (Nottinghamshire in the east Midlands Region of the UK), had a poly carbonate bowl, on 10m tubular steel poles, and mostly side entry although there were some post top examples, flatglass examples were rare
@mitchellhulston6706 Yes, they're disappearing more and more here in Sweden as well. It's only a matter of time before everything has switched to LED. But the SGS203 is a favorite and will always be a favorite fixture.

This came up in my Reccomended, never been to sweden but i'd love to visit, seems like you guys love your job, the cleanliness of your city from this angle alone and the care you took in fixing what you had then cleaned up after, its better off than in London.
You are more than welcome to visit Sweden and enjoy this beautiful country. We always strive to do our best when it comes to work. When you're going to work anyway, why not do it one hundred percent? That's how I think, anyway. Every city has its own way of working. Thank you for your words.
Hi, This came up as a recommendation, what a great idea for a new channel - just my type of interest as well (trucks & road maintenance). have subscribed and will be following along with interest.
Någon enstaka kan man spara för nördighetens skull men att sälja det får vi absolut inte göra. Det är kommunens egendom så det är bara till att slänga det i container så får de hantera det 🤷♂️
What do you do if you attend a light and the fixture is faulty? Like for say the ballast has gone bad and it doesn’t work. Do you change the fitting to an LED?
We often have spare parts in the car. We repair the luminaire. We do not install an LED luminaire when the others are old. When we switch to LED, we replace the entire street at once. Just to make it uniform.
It varies from city to city. Here, we don't install single LED lights among the regular discharge lamps. We repair or use spare fixtures. If there are too many repairs needed, the area is prioritized and switched to LED more quickly. There are many different LED fixtures, so we want a uniform and consistent light pattern
@@Skyworkss Fair enough. How do you override the on/off control? I notice there are no photocells. Do they get all switched from a main photocell and contactor setup, or with telemetry?
@mrglide7078 It is controlled from a GB central system, which receives a signal from another unit. Unfortunately, I cannot go into details without approval from the company. I understand your point about not having it lit during the day, but unfortunately, we have to do it this way because we operate from pole to pole. Additionally, some light sources turn off after being on for a while, which makes them difficult to detect unless the system has been lit for a longer period.🫶
Yes, I agree. Unfortunately, it is often about savings all the time. LEDs are energy-efficient and require less maintenance, of course. I agree that they can affect sleep due to the blue light in LEDs, but there hasn't been enough research to show that they are cancer-causing.
@@Skyworkss A study led by the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) and involving the University of Exeter found that participants living in large cities with heavy exposure to blue lights at night had double the risk of prostate cancer and 1.5 times higher risk of breast cancer
I agree about LED street lights being blinding. It seems that they don't have enough diffusion. Sometimes the LEDs themselves are within line of sight as you approach them. Together with the new LED street lights that seem to be on full power around the clock it almost requires polarized sunglasses to be bearable at night, but then you can't see into the shadows. I also agree about the sleep issues. They should be warm white not cold white at least in cities. Daylight balance too late in the day will mess upp the circadian rhythm.
What country are you in? Well, there are many who cheat when it comes to cleaning the glass. Personally, I believe one should take pride in their work and do an honest job for their country.
@@Skyworkss I don't want to lol, Sweden already got so many migrants. I'm good in my country but problem is I have no technical knowledge or certification in this job
Man har bytt till led och håller på fortfarande. Sen måste tyvärr pengarna räcka till också. Man kan inte övergå till led när man har typ 60 tusen ljuspunkter i stan.
This is the Philips SGS203 fixture. Common in Sweden and other countries like Netherlands, Poland and United Kingdom.
I like the design of it.

This is awesome I love working on street lights cool to learn about the system somewhere else
Indeed, it's a fun job and also very important in society. Thank you for watching my videos.

När ni byter ut armaturer kan du samla på de gamla då?
Kan och kan men det gör vi inte utan slänger det i container . Vad ska jag med det till ?

So there’s no random LEDs put up. It’s only when the entire road gets upgraded?
