I love the idea of humanity's bureaucratic 'nonsense' not only having a good reason to exist, but being a big part of what humanity brings to a galactic community. There is something truly great about something as boring an banal as _safety regulations_ being mankind's 'hat'.
I've been blue collar all my life. That bit about safety regulations being written in blood is real. Unfortunately it seems that certain current human political regions with high populations place less value on such regulations. Maybe they don't hold blood so dear.
@@markfergerson2145 It is a sad truth that the further removed you are from the blood price to write those regulations, the less value you tend to put in them. The folks in power, pretty much globally in government and businesses? They're too far removed to even see it, so they've little hope to understand it.
Yea, that sounds like a number of aviation accidents that I have heard of. . . Some times shit just happenes. I realize the bolt issue, but even with that, it's a perfect alignment of errors or random chance.
Part of the accident sounds like Chernobyl. We're doing a safety test and there is little to do if it fails. The broken bolt sounds like the DC 9 engine mount.
The dc-9 problem was improper maintenance practices overstressing components. The results pretty much identical though an under-strength bolt failing resulting in disaster.

Let human lawyers loose on the galaxy and everyone's safety engineering will come up to terran norms.

Yeah, most if not all safety regulations are written in blood.
true
Most.
Some are written in ash or bone because that was all that was left.
