Unfortunately, Canyon have very poor quality control in recent years, especially for bikes imported to the USA. Also, in the USA we have less accessories, bike colors and specifications . I own two Canyons at this moment

Agreed, I bought a Endurace CF a couple of years ago, terrible build and paint quality. Both disc rotors were very warped and the handlebars came scratched. All Canyon offered me was a £50 voucher. A single new rotor is £40 Would never purchase another again

The only bike you should buy in this lineup is the MOG since you can dress it up with 42mm RH tires for racing or down for single track with 48mm Oracle Ridge fires for rough off road conditions. It’s the only complete bike in this review that can handle anything you throw at it.

I just bought a Bianchi Zolder Pro I saw in sale and I cannot wait to ride it! It will be my do-it-all kinda of bike. I think we should promote these kind of bikes that can do it all and are a bit more flexible. Some Gravel bikes at the end of the day end up being pure gravel bikes (1x chainring, too slack geometry) and cannot be fast enough on the road for example. Of course it depends on what the consumer wants, but with today prices I think It's more reasonable to start looking a cyclocross bikes or fast gravel bikes with double chainring to cover most surfaces.

    Great video! Thanks for sharing.
I have the previous Grail, with the double handlebar, the CFSL eTap 7 and I am very happy with it, have not regretted it not a single moment. The new Grail has a lot of improvements, but it depends (to my humble opinion) on what perspective someone looks over on a bike comparison.

I'm surprised you've not reviewed the Boardman ADV 9.4 after your positive review of the SLR 9.4 Disc Carbon. Great spec, only costing £2,650 and you can get get an 8% discount if you're a member of the British cycling club. A lot better value than the bikes you've reviewed here in my humble opinion.

The blemish on the MOG was actually one on SHIMANO GRX really. I’m running a SRAM AXS mullet on mine and it’s just fantastic. I’m running 48s and it’s very comfy. Far better than the Open UP and the 3T thankfully. Can’t see any need for anything else but I’d love to try a few on your list, you lucky man.

Hi David, genuinely appreciate your reviews. Due to my own indecisiveness I’m still dithering what to buy. I ran with one of your own recommendations 6 months ago a Fairlight Strael for the road and have to say I love it and now in the fortunate position to be able to treat myself to another bike. I live in the New Forest and want to buy a bike to say do a 50 50 split of road and gravel. My budget is 6k and my heart says the Canyon Grail but I’m struggling to commit just in case I’m missing a chance to buy something that is even more suited and fun….Help! 😂

The Grail is a top choice, I used it as a road bike and it was great. The Cervelo Aspero is another good option that works well as a road bike too might be worth checking out

Was just looking at the Canyon Grizl, but this Grail is somehow speaking to me 😍 Unfortunately, the "base" model for €2,499 doesn't come with the internal storage or the new accessories mount... As far as I can see only the SLX models have it, starting from €3,999 reduced from 4,999... which is a killer price for 2x Di2 but somewhat over my budget 😔

Love your videos, and I am a subscriber that always looks forward to your takes. I am a little shocked and disappointed though that you didn't include the Lauf Siegla. I own a Canyon Grail, so it isn't owner bias, but any discussion of the best gravel bikes without that one is an eyebrow raise my friend, especially considering Matt Page is ripping one around Wales right next to you. ;-)

As a Gravel racer I am surprised that the Grevil wasn't in there somewhere. However, a lot of very useful and very detailed information that would be hard to find from anyone else on UA-cam. Still number one for bike reviews 😊

@LifeCycle1978 HA ha, my weight far "out weighs" any slight difference in the weight of the bikes 😊
We aren't talking about elite road racers 😂
These are Gravel bikes where they even store tools inside the frame of the bikes, add mudguards, put on storage bags. I could go on ...
At 8.5kg its lighter than some of those on test here.

I'm in the market for a gravel bike that's also a capable commuter and long range adventure bike for all weathers, which unfortunately rules out a lot of carbon frames with their lack of mounting points aft and propensity for Pressfit BBs. I've narrowed the choice down to the Fairlight Secan, Dolan GXT Ti, Brother Mehteh and Mason Bokeh.

    • @benjaminmirt5029
      @benjaminmirt5029 Місяць тому

My main is a Fairlight Faran. It does not get much better than Fairlight. Get a Secan. My next bike will be a Strael bc i want to join Road Group Rides. Nice alternatives you could look at are the Ritchey Swiss Cross or Outback. Brother Mehteh, Surly Midnight Special, Genisis Croix de Fer even a Pimped up Kona Rove Frame are all good Steel or Steel/Carbon hybrid options.
Im building up a Surly Disc Trucker and a Salsa Marrakesh for Friends. The Marrakesh would be a super strong contender if it came with Through Axle from the getgo and wouldnt need retrofitting because for its weight limit the frame is rather light for a Steel hauler.
      Ride on Fam.

I have Revolt Advanced Pro 1 that I mostly use for racing (ultra endurance ~300 miles). I am really surprised how much job does DFuse on seatpost. However there are a few issues: 1) no bottom frame protection - easily fixable and fixed by Giant in 2024 models l 2) very weak paint on frame. After 20h of riding with framebag attached with rubber stripes there are spots where painting is completely gone. It's something that does not happen on a way cheaper bikes. 3) Problematic spare parts supply (at least in EU). With Canyon you go to web page and see all spare parts associated with your bike that you can order with one click. In the case of Giant you can't even determine part numbers. If you want spare derailleur hanger first you need to call Giant to determine part number and order it. The shipping time is weeks. You want different stem ? Available in a few months. I expected way better access to parts and quality from Giant.

9.1 watts ..... It's all a marginal gain I know but that is so little to put it into perspective I viewed a channel a few days ago , Lionel Sanders , where they wind tunnel tested shaving arms and legs that was a 13 watt gain , they also tried several different brands of calf covers , this guy rides for Canyon . Basically having hairy legs will chew up that aero gain and some ..... Shave up and buy this bike and save 22.1 watts
