- Part 6 - Quick March Past and the Royal Cavalry Gala
Trooping the Colour 2011 - 360 years - Queen's Birthday Parade - BBC
With the Queen once more seated at the Saluting Base, the command "Troop!" is given by the Field Officer, and the parade stands at attention and changes arms.
Under the command of the Senior Drum Major, the Massed Bands march and countermarch at Horse Guards Parade in slow and quick time.
The slow march music is traditionally the Waltz from Les Huguenots. During the quick march, a lone drummer from the Corps of Drums breaks away from the Massed Bands, marching to two paces to the right of No. 1 Guard to take his post.
The Trooping of the Colour phase is initiated by the lone drummer's eight-bar "Drummer's Call", signalling the Captain of No. 1 Guard to cede his command to the Subaltern of No.1 Guard. It slopes arms, while the rest is told to change arms and stands at ease on the direction of the Field Officer.
"Letting her majesty know that the march past in quick time is completed" ... Her Majesty has done it more times than anybody else living...believe me, she KNOWS just when it's been cmpleted, and just how well (or badly) it's been done
He got shot in the legs in helmand province and hes back on parade..Thats the spirit soldier..
FRANNY tell Him we all wish Him well
Srtidnja
MM cool with that mountaind band... I was in one myself in Sweden. But that russian March was to slow to be honest. It is much faster... normally. But cool it is. :-)
It's a slow march, with the emphasis on slow.
Ich habe habe ich auch schon gesagt ja
No one can touch the British for tradition
I hope you're right
@@Anglisc1682 þat wæs góð cyning
Yes wish they all die with it.
As an American I've got to say that is damned impressive!!
We are glad you enjoy it - you have anything similar back in the states?
Nope, nothing this cool!
@@MrStoney61 You should come to London this summer and enjoy it. Happens every June. Would you come over to visit and see our ceremonial?
I really would love too John, but at 71 and on a real fixed income I'm afraid that would be a remote chance. I've always loved the UK.
@@MrStoney61 Trooping the Colour is broadcast live around the world, if you are prepared to get up early you could enjoy it live in early June.
My Grandad was Coldstream Guards during the second World War... He was on duty when Buckingham Place was bombed..
I wonder why unlike most military parade this has more meaning because this men actually served and seen combat where as most military army parade such as the north korean army and chinese army they probably spend more time training to march up and down the square rather than real training.
Thanh Le and our soldiers are VOLUNTEERS
Thanh Le and they are all VOLUNTEERS
They are active duty units the weapons are real and loaded and they really do guard the Queen and palace. They are not just a show for the tourists
@@Hotspur37 That is a fact. Their weapons are the current front line battle rifle, not ceremonial antiques, and the bayonets are sharp. You will never see household Regiments holding bayonets at rest, as American ceremonial units (3rd Army Division and MarBks DC) often do.
The readiness to fight for HM is part and parcel of existence, even as you look at the first official day of the Coldstream Guard. They were volunteers who armed to protect their monarch from revolt, and as soon as it was over, they laid down their arms, showing their absolute good will. He ordered them to take them up again, dubbing them the Cold-Streame Guards, forever to be his protectors. So have all the Household Regiments been, ever since. May it never change.
It has long been shown that those soldiers with the best ceremonial tend to perform better in battle. That drill discipline was very important for a traditional line of battle regiment, maybe still is.
They don’t do this just to entertain. They are the Thin Red Line that has held enemies at bay for centuries.
John Willetts and not being rude the sun shines out of their arses
All very true. But the Thin Red Line always was and is the Highland Regiments.
The Highlanders. Men in kilts from a country famed for its thistles. Balls of steel.
Bucket list: *Go to London, to watch CHANGING of The Guard @ Buckingham Palace*
May God Bless all whom serve 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Long live the British army it makes me feel so proud to be British
Imagine 360 years. Longer than some countries have existed. We should be proud.
I swear that when Hielan Laddie is playing, I saw the Queen smile!
The discipline and co-ordination is utterly amazing
0:01 - Moray Firth, 1:33 - Hielan Laddie, 2:32 - The British Grenadiers

Fantastic! Well Done You! I have searched over last two days endeavouring to find the title to 7:49 march. I always thought it British seeing it's played so much during GB's annual traditional military event in front of HM The Queen's 'Trooping The Colour' - Many thanks.
Great sight. Britannia forever. The Queen must be very proud.
i want only to say i am from belgium en i like this very much !!!!! and i am 12 years old !!!
Lennert Schreel you are a very clever person with excellent taste
I know this was a while ago and I’m looking forward to this years Trooping of the Colour but my heart swells with pride every time I watch it.
They sent 1 million horses to WW1 and only 62,000 came back?
Damn.
That's only 6% :( That is outright depressing.
You think that's bad, 120000 went from Australia during WW1 and only one came back.
@@danielgrunter3636 I prefer Liechtenstein numbers where 80 people went to war and 81 came back because they made a friend along the way.
A bunch that were still alive after the war simply weren't needed so they were sold to the french to eat
Extremely impressive. I’d love to see this in person. Saskatchewan, Canada 🇨🇦.
Look up the Canadian Airforce units that went over last year to participate in guarding the Queen
Yes, but you get to see Bigfoot!
That commentator...............oof! Where did they find him ? Such a dull man! Couldn't he have studied the Richard Dimbleby commentaries ? A bit of breeding, perhaps ?
The drum horses are so majestic.
WOW. From TN to all those trooping. FANTASTIC.!! Loved every perfectly performed precision formation. May God Bless and protect you,.
The cavalry looks really impressive!
When i was saluting to the Household Divison my horse got a little crazy so once he heard monymusk he got still oh edward so funny
its pleasure to watch the trooping of the colours, love to be there.
7:50 Slow march of the Life-Guard Preobrazhensky Regiment :)
Preobrazhensky Regiment is one of the oldest regiments of the Imperial Russian Army formed by Peter the Great in the late 17th century from his poteshnye voiska (потешные войска, 'droll forces') during his military games in the village of Preobrazhenskoye. :) i am glad i hear the British bands appreciate that music.
Glory to the Tzar and to the royal descendants of Queen Victoria! :)
i love the British Grenadiers wanna join up after i've left college
I wish we could JUST LISTEN to the music and watch without all the gab???
Grant Fisher go on chavvy!
Grant Fisher what a fine figure you’ll cut coz they are the mutts nuts innit! You have to say that innit because it makes some stuffed shirts get on their high horse even though it’s just a figure of speech! Good luck
@JPRizal2000
I see. Will there be an exception of who gets to troop the color next year? It will Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee and it will most likely be more of an international event
I bet they felt bloody fantastic giving this some swagger!
Good work guys.
Pipes and drums of scots and Irish guards queen Elizabeth March 🇬🇧💂
1:35 "highland laddie " quick march of the scots guards
2:34 "the british grenadiers" quick March of the grenadier guards
2:52 "rise of the lark" quick march of the welsh guards
3:07 "millinano" quick march of the coldstream guards
(Not here) "st patricks day" quick March of the Irish guards
FOR GOD AND THE EMPIRE!
Andre Joshua Mahinay Bahian the thing is that people don’t realise HER MAJESTY still has one
At 7:46 is the 'Russian Imperial Preobrazhensky Regiment (Slow) March'. I bracketed 'slow' in title as this is likely to be a British version from original Russian which is a bit faster. We see the 'Russian Imperial Preobrazhensky Regiment March' version evocatively rendered during Russia's 2019 74th Anniversary WW2 Victory Parade re 7.39 time bar in link: ua-cam.com/video/t54cfPg4ao4/v-deo.html&lc=UgxqYymCAqC9YemrfUx4AaABAg.9GQKlhCLtm_9GmnhZ5-Y5O&feature=em-comments Worth a visit to compare the different band's versions. _Thanks to Brit Brit of this UA-cam Channel for supplying in one of his comments the title of this march music._
@JPRizal2000
:D UK will definitely be in the spotlight. Will there be another Commonwealth tour?
Vive l'empereur!!!!!.....oh wait wrong parade
We DARE you! Guards - Present Arms!
Long live our British armed services. Big salute to our serving men and women. So professional. So smart
Well Pedro..if that makes you feel better...keep dreaming :-D
Do shut up, talking over the Mounted Band!
Unfortunately the Royal Horse Artillery couldn't present that year. They are impressively too with their horses and guns.
Ferdinand Liem The horses had a virus, I believe, and were having Tender Loving Care in their stalls. 🐎
Laying in bed but listening to this music My Feet start moving
The medley at the beginning is given the name Moray Firth (0.0 to 1.32). I recognise The March of the Cameron Men and the Nut Brown Maiden. Is there a separate tune between or is it a variation of the Cameron Men?
I think it's just the name they give for Cameron Men. Cracking rendition
Are the same songs played every year?
THE VERY BEST, BAR NONE.
if marching tempo of british army is 116 than why music played by the band is 120
Depends on which regiment is marching, standard pace is 116 beats per minute with a 30-inch step, with variations for individual regiments, British light infantry and rifle regiments, for example, march at 140 beats per minute, Highland regiments march at 112 bpm (except when wearing kilts, when it is 80). You then have slow march and the double. Also depends upon the tempo of the music.
I am not an American.
How those people keep that level of concentration going on for that length of time is something to behold these days - no one looking at smartphones etc!
The Guards. Long Live Her Majesty the Queen.
That Ferris wheel is hideous in the background.
British Grenadiers
What no "Yakee Doodle Dandy"? Just kidding, These are really great soldiers.
them sharp man only thing is dat u is to sulute d queen
I'd give anything to have seen my dad ride in this
that trumpeter has to have the best job!
@MyKingdom13 safe
What bagpipes song being play at 6:25 ? Anyone..
+Shah hery Queen Elizabeth's March.
Sounds like "Bonnie Dundee" but when it comes to pipe bands my musical ear is lacking!
Elegant ceremony 💕
2019 Trooping the Colour will take place tomorrow Saturday June 8th at 10.30am British Summer Time.
@khanhle10 I fully agree with you. That's also why it's more acceptable that they are not the best drill troops. I've seen more precise drills from cheerleaders. But then again, these are first and foremost, front-line fighting soldiers. Drill is just something they do to honor tradition and the Queen.
610 dogs/ HUSH YOUR MOUTH/ SILENCE.
I want a military parade for the USA.
apparently Trumps on it, but no one will ever match the Brits when it comes to pomp and ceremony.
Mattis, Sec of Defense, is jerking around Trump and dodging it. Bureaucrats and our own American apologists take turns why we shouldn't do it ($92,000,000 supposedly or next week they'll tell you such parades are un-American). Bullshit.
cogidubnus1953 oThe problem with that kind of remark, apart from its general unpleasantness, is that the office of POTUSA includes being Head of State. It’s one thing insulting the ignorant and repulsive Trump as a person or even as Head of Government but in ceremonial or symbolic matters you are insulting the US people through the Head of State.
Got to learn to march first lol
Got to learn to march first
HRM (Queen): "Note for the Prime Minister - MORE COWBELL !"
Horses: "This is fun: just don't expect us to fight in Afghanistan, OK?"
Man that grenadier guard band always has those beastly bass trombonists in full effect.
The world of man
Wachrtdanja

@MinisterAilingTongue I guess he/she is just another keyboard warrior I assume just trying to big it up with idle threats..Haven't we heard that rubbish somewhere before..
