    Really appreciate your videos. When I got my 07 GXP in 2012 there was a lot of enthusiasm and tons of DYI info from owners and vendors including videos and tutorials. Now over the years these cars have changed hands or are slowly going away and vendors with parts are fewer along with forums becoming ghost towns and also these type of step by step mod videos are harder to find. So keep them up. There're great.

      You're so welcome!
      I agree with you. I may have only one of my Kappa's for a little over 4 to 5 years now, but I have definitely seen and felt the presence of the enthusiasm for this community fade away. Even the Skyroadster forum isn't quite as active as it used to be. All I typically see are for sale or parts wanted posts. The Solstice forum is still quite active, though.
      The fact that I couldn't find any videos for replacements or even a good quality video for that matter for some procedures was the main drive for starting this channel. Seems like others enjoy it!
      Don't worry, there'll be more to come. That's for sure! I've even started trying some new things to make the channel better as well! So stay tuned!
      Once again, thank you so much!

    Im glad you've been doing these videos recently especially since these cars are rare like the videos. Your videos are thorough amd you dont assume everyone is car repair savy. Do you plan on doing tranny fluid change or ither fluid changes in the future?

    • @Kaswells_Kappa
      @Kaswells_Kappa  3 дні тому

      Of course, it's been my pleasure to do so, and not everyone can afford the time or the luxury of being a full-time mechanic. Heck, even I'm not one. This is just a hobby! So I try to do what others can't and try to fill in that gap for them.
      I do plan on doing them in the future, but I've been waiting to do it since a procedure such as the tranny fluid has to be done a very specific way. And, until recently, I didn't have the right resources. So because of this, I've been waiting until I can do it right. If I misstep, it could or can be catastrophic for others. But, yes, I do plan on visiting those procedure s!

    Not too hard of a job! Thanks for the video.

    Working towards getting a Saturn Sky atm.
    Saw one with only 3,214 km (1,998 miles)
    Hopefully it'll still be available when I can afford it. 😆😉

      That's great! HOW much are they asking for it? I hope it's not too much. Low mileage usually means a high cost. Is it a redline or a base? Either or, I'm sure you will love it!

    • @Axis_Of_Evil
      @Axis_Of_Evil 8 днів тому

      @Kaswells_Kappa the seller is asking $33,900 CA. It's a redline, carbon, with every available oem option.
      Dealership car.
      The Price is a little high as far as I'm concerned, but I love those cars and admittedly would fork that over in a heartbeat. I might be a sucker, but a willing one.😁

    • @Kaswells_Kappa
      @Kaswells_Kappa  8 днів тому +1

      Jeez! Yeah, that definitely is one heck of a price. Usually, you don't see prices like that unless it is a one of a kind sky. I hope they are willing to wheel and deal!

    • @Axis_Of_Evil
      @Axis_Of_Evil 8 днів тому

      @Kaswells_Kappa yes, me too...lol
      It's the carbon flash edition, if that makes much of a difference?
      Been up for sale for a while now, so I'm not sure that guy is negotiable.
      I still need several thousand more to afford it, maybe that price will keep others at bay.

    • @Kaswells_Kappa
      @Kaswells_Kappa  8 днів тому +1

      For a Carbon Fiber Se, you do typical see a higher price, yes. But not that much. I could definitely see a Hydro Blue Sky selling for that much no problem. Even wil a bit of mileage. But Carbons usually sell for a little under $20,000 USD. But yes, with a price like that, it will definitely keep others away.

    As he's putting everything back, he doesn't miss the opportunity to quickly say, "I hate those." Ha. Reminds me of that TikTok or whatever of the little cat who's jumping up at something. He's doing this a few times whereby after the second or third time of landing on his feet, he quickly takes a swipe at the other cat that was sitting there next to him watching him jumping up and down. And once he finishes a quick swipe, goes back to jumping at the thing he was trying to get. Hehe.
    Anyway, I hope you do a 6-month or 1-year review of those things. I'd love to know how they hold up and whether you run into any issues with them. Might have to get me some.

      Absolutely, I'll be monitoring everything and watching how they run overtime

    For those covers, remove the connectors from the solenoids and the entire wire harness slides through the front.

      Honestly, I thought about doing so. But I wasn't completely sure if it was a critical calibrated deal like the crankshaft position sensor. I SHOULD have looked it up, but with how little time I've had recently, I cut a corner. When I make the Saturn Sky version I'll definitely include it and include the Service Manual page for them.
      Thank you!

      @Kaswells_Kappa Also, those sound dampener covers are only on the turbos, not on the NA engines. Oh... and I hate those "Christmas tree" things too. 😒

    • @Kaswells_Kappa
      @Kaswells_Kappa  8 днів тому +1

      Now THAT I didn't know. Explains why it's nowhere to be found on GM's catalogs. Spent a lot of time trying to figure that out. After taking this one off the Solstice, I'm more tempted to remove it from my Sky as well. DDMWorks Coil Covers are looking really nice right now..
      I cant STAND them! I know they're actually called clips, but I can't help but see a Christmas tree. So that's what they are now.

    Why would someone need to upgrade these coil packs? I have a P0300 code and im not going to start replacing parts just to replace parts but if the dealership tells me i need new coil packs ill definitely consider these

      A higher voltage pack has several benefits over a traditional coil pack.
      For one, a higher voltage coil pack helps produce a better spark for the spark plug by sending a higher voltage to it. This, in turn, helps to create better combustion. Especially of the fuel trim is a little more lean than usual.
      Another benefit is that as a coil pack wears out, it's won't put out as good of a spark as it used to. With a higher voltage coil pack, as time goes on and it wears out, it'll be able to put out a good spark for a longer period of time than the OEM due to its original higher voltage.
      As far as the P0300 code, this is for a general misfire that is felt in the engine but not at any specific cylinder. This can either be caused by an actual misfire OR can even be caused by high vibration outside of the engine, but that is a low chance. Getting high voltage coil pack MIGHT help, especially if the fuel trim is lean, but there can be other factors that cause misfires.
      - Incorrect fuel type (Base Kappas use 87 Octane, Redline & GXP's use 91 or above)
      - Rich or Lean fuel Trims (Caused by other factors mentioned below. However, both would show a CEL Code)
      - Clogged air filter (not enough air getting into the system / makes fuel trim rich)
      - Bad coil packs (can't push a spark to the spark plugs for combustion)
      - Bad spark plugs (can't produce a strong spark due to wear and tear / corrosion)
      - Fuel / Evap Leak (not enough fuel getting into the system due to leak / causes leam fuel trim / usually can smell gas outside or in the vehicle)
      There could be many more instances, but these are some of the simpler causes that one or more combined could definitely cause a misfire given the right circumstances. Be careful driving if you are experiencing misfires. It can damage the engine.
      Check for small things first, such as the air filter amd spark plugs to make sure they aren't worn or needing replacements.
      Hope this helps!

      @Kaswells_Kappa awesome thanks for sharing your thoughts and suggestions. I'll keep you posted on their findings. It's been parked for a while so I'm sure it's a fuel related issue

    • @Kaswells_Kappa
      @Kaswells_Kappa  5 днів тому +2

      Absolutely. That would definitely do it. Usually, when a vehicle sits for a longer while, the fuel in it guns up the system like the fuel injectors. Hopefully they figure it out for you.
      Good luck!

      Well, today was pretty crazy. I went to the dealership to check on my redline and was told all but one code was cleared and will need driven more to get the last code to reset before it can pass PA State inspection (initially had a P0300 code). I asked if I could put some miles on it and took back roads for about 30 miles and it ran great! I hit the interstate and got it up to 80 mph and got a flashing check engine light. I immediately pulled over and it went away. I took it back to the garage and informed them of what happened. I'm convinced it's one of the coil packs but without looking at the code I'd only be speculating. I guess I'll find out tomorrow, could be a coil pack or packs.

      These were purchased with this very thought in mind. The price was the main domino for this decision. Not only is it a tad cheaper, they look stylish compared to the OEM's dulled look. So it helps to dress up the engine a bit. Now, whether it actually impacts anything, I honestly believe it may only be on par with OEM standards. BUT, if the details say otherwise, then I will be impressed and share what I've found.

    Be careful of Chinese components, lots of counterfeit spark plugs etc. I had to call NGK just to get a verification of mine.

      Trust me, I am well aware. I typically only buy straight from vendors or verified sources.
